The Docks

This base was chosen for its many varried assets. The most basic requirement of a Sea Scout base is to have a place to dock you ship. This base fit the bill nicely.

We have direct access to the Stockton deep water shipping channel. The river front property under our control extends to well over 100 yards. That shoreline is covered in concrete ripwrap with a sea wall behind that. We needed a way to have easy access to the water from the higher shore.

We have a fixed pedestrian bridge that spans about 200 feet over the water. From there we have installed a long swing ramp that drops to a floating steel dock. The ships are tied up to that floating dock. The beauty of this arrangement is that we don't have to keep adjusting the mooring lines as the tides come in and out. The dock and the ships rise and fall together. The ramp raises and lowers from a pivot point where it's connected to the pedestrian bridge.

There will be more info soon.
