NEWS FROM THE COOKE FAMILY 1999

Dave
This year has turned out to be very busy with many trips abroad. I have visited different countries including Kosovo, Macedonia, Azerbaijan, Crimea and Ingushetia. I have a great burden for the suffering children in the world, which drives me on to, try to help them. I am hoping to write a book next year, so watch this space.

Gill
This year has been a year of surprises. In April Dave arranged a weekend away in Budapest (Hungary) for the two of us with two friends and didn’t tell me until a few days before we were about to go. Recently Dave told me that he’d got me a surprise Christmas present and then told me what it was! He has arranged for us all to go to America for Christmas to see Simon, it was supposed to be a surprise for Simon but he managed to find out before the rest of us.

Simon
At the beginning of the year I was at Sixth Form College and working at McDonalds in my spare time. I finished at college in June and carried on working at McD’s. In the summer I went to the Aberystwyth conference for a week before starting work for Samaritan’s Purse in the office in Wrexham. I spent my second week working in Djakove (Kosovo) with Dad and a group of men building playparks for the children.
I was hoping to get a work permit to enable me to go to America for 12months but that did not work out so I decided to go for 3 months and then hopefully return again. I left for the U.S.A. on 25th Oct. and here I am. I am really enjoying my time here and have made loads of new friends. At the moment I am helping out in the warehouse of S.P. here in Boone NC on shoeboxes. I will return home for a while on 21st January

Naomi
I started to work in a big, posh Hotel, called “Carden Park”, in March, and I’m still there now, I really enjoy it. I have got to serve many famous people, including Liverpool football club, which I wasn’t too pleased about, as I’m a loyal Man united fan. In the summer, I went to Romania, for two weeks, with a friend. I then came home, and straight away, I was rushed off to camp. Which is a week away in Bala, near here. I had a good time there as well. Then the dreaded results were due out; I managed to pick up 1 B, 6 C’s and 2 E’s,, which I was pleased about, as I could have worked harder. And then this September I started in Yale college, I LOVE it; I’m doing a BTEC in Nursery Nursing, even though I want to be an Airhostess.

Sarah
This year I passed my piano grade 2, which I was pleased about. I was in the Netball team at school and played GK, we managed to come second in Wrexham.

Laura
I’ve been playing the piano since I was 8 and I did my grade 1 in June and I passed. In the summer holidays I went to Bryn Tirion camp for the first time and I really enjoyed it. I had my 11th Birthday on the 28th November and I had a drum kit, I was really really pleased with it. I’m always playing on it and one day I hope to have lessons.

Please keep in touch.

Love and best wishes from
