Here's something I wrote a couple of years ago.....
A man walking in the distance
a white spot in the night
approaches a horizon
parched with thirst.
As he reaches the horizon
an oasis appears
but it is unclear to him
whether it is safe to drink.
He tastes it---it is
clear, pure, satisfying
but suddenly he backs away
from what appears before him.
He recognizes the image but
he can't put his finger on what
is different about it.
So he turns and runs away
from the image of himself.
