1980 - 2000
1980: Formation of AVBDWB. Registration of the society, introduction of School Education Programme, All India Voluntary Blood Donation Day Celebration, First camp with 100 donors.
1981: Frank Worrell Day, Football Lovers Day, Certificate Course on Blood Donor Motivation, First Camp with 1000 donors.
1982: Publication of blue print for improvement of State Blood Transfusion Service, diamond Jubilee of first voluntary blood donation, Workshop for blood bank personnel with British Experts as faculty members, Rakhi Bandhan Day, Florence Nightingale Day.
1983: Formation of District organisation, Computerised Donors directory, Collaboration with the International Organisation.
1984: Introduction of blood group watch stickers and badges for school children, School routine with the message of blood donation.
1985: National Seminar and workshop on Blood Donor Motivation, Publication of Draft National Policy, Publication of quarterly bulletin "Gift of Blood".
1986: Certificate of appreciation for all blood donors, Flip Chart for school programmes, Introduction of panel donors, Invited by Government of India to work as advisor in their resource pool on donor motivation.
1987: First State Conference of blood donor motivators, First Camp with 1500 donors, Exhibition at the Academy of Fine Arts.
1988: Organised 451 camps, offered expertise to other States.
1989: Coordinated the publication of National Guide Book on Blood Donor Motivation, Deputed representatives to other states to conduct training programme.
1990: International Conference and Workshop of Blood Donor Motivation, National Workshop on Basic Blood Banking Techniques, International Exhibition on Motivational materials and flower show, Publication of Rakta Rakhi.
1991: Mass Approach Programme by way of Torch Light Procession, Becomes full member to represent India in International Federation of Blood Donor Organisation, Invited by WHO Geneva to prepare a document on Donor Motivation & Recruitment, State Level Network to offer Certificate Course on Blood Donor Motivation & Recruitment.
1992: Recognition of Certificate Course - Social Service Blood Donor Motivation & Recruitment at district and sub-divisional level by national Science & Technology Communication, Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, Involvement of school students in propagating the message of blood donation by forming human-chain in front of the schools in the main thoroughfare, Invited to conduct training programmes at Bombay, Pune and Nasik, Introduction of Workshops on the techniques of running total voluntary organisation.
1993: Invited to participate in the World Congress of Blood Donor Organisations at Spain to share the concept of education and voluntary organisation with representative of industrial and developing countries, Invited to conduct training programmes at Madras, Government of India, National Aids Control Organisation invites AVBDWB to prepare training modules on Blood Donor Motivation and Recruitment for training blood bank personnel.
1994: National Workshop in quest of Safe Blood Transfusion was organised at Calcutta with 60 selected donor motivators and organisers from all over the country to prepare guideline to be followed in next five years. Increase in blood donation camps, motivational seminars, School education programmes, training programme for motivators, training programme for the trainers.
1995: International Colloquium on the theme Education as a Tool for Blood Donor Motivation at Calcutta with 60 participants from home and abroad. Conducted training programme at New Delhi on Donor Motivation on an invitation from Government of Delhi.
1996: Invited to prepare approach paper for Ninth Five Year Plan on HIV prevention and blood safety by National Council of Health & Family Welfare on behalf of Planning Commission, Became the representative of the voluntary organisation in the State Council for Blood Transfusion. Training programmes for undergraduate medical students were introduced. Department of Science and Technology assigned the responsibility to study the status of Blood Banks of Calcutta and Howrah and the voluntary blood donor base. Received the second best award in the international film festival on Blood Donor Motivation and Recruitment held at Sofia, Bulgaria.
1997: Undertook and completed the study on `Donor Profile and Status of Blood Banks in Calcutta and Howrah' a project of D.S.T., Government of India. Participated as the only representative of voluntary organisations in the National Workshop conducted by National AIDS Control Organisation to prepare National Policy to achieve total voluntary blood programme for the country. Invited as guest speaker in the First Asia Pacific Conference on Donor Recruitment at Bangkok. Received the International Best Poster Award at Bangkok.
1998: Invited by Govt. of India to serve in the Expert Committee to prepare National Policy and Programme for voluntary blood donation.
1999: Received the Meghnad Puraskar for science popularisation from Govt. of West Bengal.
2000: Organised National Workshop on Blood Donor Recruitment for the Twenty First Century. Gift of Blood received Best House Journal Award from the Public Relations Voice (Journal of Indian Public Relations Society).
2001: Conducted courses at Bangladesh as WHO Programme. Observed International year of volunteers with state level workship.
2002: Invited to present papers at World Congress at Canada on Blood Donation.
2003: Invited to speak at the Third Social Forum at Brazil on Blood is not a merchandise.
2004: Invited to present West Bengal model of Voluntary Organisation and Blood Donor Recruitment Programme at the 9th International Colloquium on Recruitment of Voluntary non-remunerative Blood Donors at Beijing, China.
2005: Silver Jubilee, Candle Light Procession. National Workshop on Blood Donor Recruitment and the Parliament of Motivators and State Level Inter-school Quiz competition on Blood Donation and Social Work.
2006: Closing Ceremomy of yearlong Silver Jubilee Programme.
2007: Organised the First Asian Meet of IFBDO (FIODS) member countries in Chennai jontly with AVBDTN.
2008: Invited to present at the 11th Colloquium of International Federation of Red Cross and Red Cresent Societies at Cario, Egypt.
