Transcript from july 14, 1999 Actor Chris Casamassa Scorpion on Mortal Kombat Conquest. Actor Chris Casamassa plays the evil warrior, Scorpion on the hit tv series Mortal Kombat Conquest. He is a world class martial artist and has done many movies and tv shows as both a leading actor and a stuntman including doubling for George Clooney in the film Batman and Robin. He joins us this evening here at mortalkombat.com to chat with the fans. I'm looking forward to donning the scorpion suit once again. Keep telling everyone on the site that you want another movie and hopefully we'll get one. #mortalkombat: Combat32 says: Did you have to wear a blue mask in the first movie because the end of the first fight when you took your mask off? Chris Casamassa: What they did was took a mold of my head and put the mask over the mold. Then they used computers to make the change to a mask I was wearing of a skull. #mortalkombat: Caffeineboy says: How often do you train? Chris Casamassa: When I'm not filming I try to train at least 4 or 5 times a week. I also have a studio that I teach martial arts at, so I always work out by teaching other people. #mortalkombat: J_CageFan says: How many movies have you been in? Chris Casamassa: I think 7. #mortalkombat: hi says: Where is your studio at? Chris Casamassa: My studio is in Covena, CA. Chris Casamassa: I'm the best with my own character, Scorpion, but I also like to play as Raiden. #mortalkombat: Caffeineboy says: Have you ever injured yourself during training? Chris Casamassa: I injured myself with a kama once when I was younger and almost amputated my thumb. #mortalkombat: {k}nightmare says: Didn't Ed Boon do Scorpion's Voice in the Mortal Kombat Movie? Chris Casamassa: Yes. #mortalkombat: Killer says: When you are Scorpion, can you see well? (because your eyes are all white) Chris Casamassa: They were white contact lenses. They had three different lenses depending on my distance from the camera. The closeup lenses I couldn't see anything, the other ones it was like looking through a paper tube. #mortalkombat: Combat32 says: What martial arts do you practice? Chris Casamassa: I study Red Dragon Karate which was created by my father, which I have studied since I was four. I also studied a japanse style called Shorin-ryu with a friend of my dad's by the name of Steve Fisher, who has a school in Los Angeles. #mortalkombat: Fatabbot14 says: I heard that you were going to be an extra in the first movie but your skills were so good they picked you for the role of Scorpion. Chris Casamassa: I had gone down to audition as an extra I thought, I didn't know what part I was trying out for. They kept calling me back and I thought "Wow, this is awfully hard for just an extra part". Chris Casamassa: Yes, my father is still my teacher. #mortalkombat: Caffeineboy says: Out of the people you haven't done fight scenes with, who would you most want to work with? Chris Casamassa: I'm 33 and I'm 5'11" #mortalkombat: Caffeineboy says: What are your hobbies other than martial arts? Chris Casamassa: Mountain bike riding, skim boarding, wake boarding, fun extreme stuff. #mortalkombat: Combat32 says: Have you had problems with the lenses you wear while acting as Scorpion? Chris Casamassa: Yes I did. #mortalkombat: NosajMKcom says: I heard that you happen to be one of the few people to don the famous Batman outfit in the 4th film. What exactly did you do on the film Batman and Robin? Chris Casamassa: I did all the fighting scenes for Batman. #mortalkombat: Venom says: How come you didn't die in the last season of MKC? Chris Casamassa: I didn't die because my character is immortal #mortalkombat: ABACABB says: Did you enjoy playing the role of Scorpion again in MK Conquest? Chris Casamassa: Definately, I loved playing in MKC. I actually had to audition to get into MKC too. They didn't just give me the part. #mortalkombat: Combat32 says: Did you like the plot of the MK movie? Chris Casamassa: I liked everything except the part where Scorpion blows up. #mortalkombat: dragonii82 says: When you were doing the movie Mortal Kombat, did you ever have any stunt accidents? Chris Casamassa: None that I was aware of except for the normal bruises and minor scrapes. Most big productions are very safety oriented, a lot of time is spent making sure everything is safe. #mortalkombat: Fatabbot14 says: How hard is it to do the choreography for the snake serpent when it comes in and out of your hand? Chris Casamassa: It was harder in the movie because we weren't sure how we were going to do it since we weren't sure what the creature was going to look like. I had to act like something was really coming out of my hand, but we didn't know what yet. #mortalkombat: Killer says: Are you in the second MK movie (Annhilation) because I didn't see it? Chris Casamassa: No, I wasn't in MKA because I was already working on Batman and Robin at the time. #mortalkombat: sub-zero4 says: I don't mean to break my own rule, but do you have any info on what will happen to MKC? Chris Casamassa: As far as I know, we are scheduled to do a second season. When? I don't know. We are awaiting word anxiously. #mortalkombat: Gamboa says: How is your friendship with Bruce Locke? Are you guys cool with each other? Chris Casamassa: Bruce and I get along very well. He is a wonderful guy. #mortalkombat: ABACABB says: Was that a skull mask they put on you to do the toasty or was it computerize? Chris Casamassa: It was a mask. #mortalkombat: Combat32 says: Do you ever meet with any of the cast you worked with in restaurants and so forth like Daniel does? Chris Casamassa: I hang out with JJ Perry a lot. I also hang out with Daniel every once in a while. #mortalkombat: Killer says: Is it difficult to breath with the mask? Chris Casamassa: It was hard to breathe at first because they didn't have air holes in the mask, but we put some in later. #mortalkombat: ABACABB says: Did you have to study Scorpion in the video game to act like him? Chris Casamassa: Yes, I did study Scorpion in the game. Before I tried out for the movie I used to play Mortal Kombat all the time. I also wanted to bring some of my style into the character of scorpion.. make him a little more dynamic. #mortalkombat: NosajMKcom says: Being a 14 year martial artist myself I was wondering if you had any advice for young people who may be thinking about studing in the arts for the first time. Chris Casamassa: First, set a goal for yourself. Second, don't stop until you've reached it. Never give up on your goals or dreams.
