In this brief sermon from the Bible, I will discuss how to possess those things that God has given us. My prayer is that this teaching will encourage you by building your faith and bring you to a new spiritual level in the Lord. Passage One: "And the Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour." ( Joshua 6:2 ) God made the children of Israel a promise, and the only thing that stood in their way was the city of Jericho. Jericho represents the things that hinder us from going in and possessing those things that God has already given to us. There are certain things that God has given to us, that we must have the faith and patience to receive. God has given us His promise to heal, deliver, and to set us free, but sometimes these things are not easily obtained. Nevertheless, these situations and circumstances, like the city of Jericho, will be removed because God has already assured us of the victory. Passage Two: "And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the Lord hath given you the city." ( Joshua 6:16 ) Passage Three: "And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it." ( Joshua 6:18 ) "Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff."( Joshua 7:11 ) God has given us victory over the "accursed thing", such as sin. Our own "stuff" represents our walk with God, sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others, peace, joy, good health, and happiness. Child of God, to continue to walk in victory, and in the love of God, we must move these accursed things from among our stuff. Passage Four: "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness..." ( II Peter 1:3 ) "He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things."( Rom. 8:32 ) In closing, I would like to leave you with this scripture. Passage Five: "And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are able to overcome it."( Joshua 13:30 )
