The Soft Parade Marches On...

"The Soft Parade is here to stay, everything must be this way..."

So, you want to know more about the band we fervently refer to as The Doors. Well, you've come to the right place, my friend. I'll start by telling you about the band. ROBBY KRIEGER was the bands guitarist, who had a flair for bottleneck, and was also a top-notch songwriter. RAY MANZAREK was a classicaly trained pianist, who played the organ for the band, adding to it's unique sound. JOHN DENSMORE was a jazz drummer who gave the music an unbeatable theatrical sensibility. And, JIM MORRISON, the group's singer who had a rich baritone with an inborne compositional ability; "the electric poet", he was called. The four brought very different talents to the band, to say the least. But when the four came together, the pieces of a puzzle had been brought together. The four named thier band after a Aldous Huxley book, entitled, "The Doors of Perception." The book was about the author's experience with psychedelic drugs. Yes, THE DOORS, had been formed, with sin ger JIM MORRISON at the wheel. The band had numerous hits, such as "Hello, I Love You", and "Light My Fire". It seemed, for a while at least, that nothing could stop this mighty majesty. But, one sad day, the band's singer and leader, JIM MORRISON, died of a heart attack in Paris, France. Without him, a vital piece of the puzzle was gone forever. But the music of THE DOORS lived on, survied, flourished. Why? Because they weren't just some fleeting group from the sixties; they were a reflextion of mankind, and they seemed to always show us the beautiful side of mankind, the one with joy and hope, but they also wouldn't let us forget the dark side of mankind, the one with hate, and anger. They were everything, just like us. And thier ability to make such great, complex music, from such simple instruments, intrigued us even more. THE DOORS will never be forgotten...Below I have a link to a page witch has links to 100 DOORS sites, so you can learn even more about the outstanding band. Also, I have a link to a page telling all about how the group have a box set, featuring out-takes, live performances, and the never before realesed "Orange County Suite", plus many other links...enjoy.
