Werebeasts

What are werebeasts?

Werebeasts are shapeshifters like werewolves, werefoxes, werehawks, weredragons (yes, I did say dragons, I happen to know one), werepanthers ... you get the idea. As you can see, we're not all wolves. There are plenty of other species out there, but they're overshadowed by the wolves most of the time.

So does that mean weres actually turn into animals?

Yes and no. No, weres don't actually physically turn into animals (called p-shifting), but they do mentally shift (m-shifting), dream shift (d-shifting), and do aural shifts (a-shifting).

OK, what exactly is p-shifting?

P-shifting (or physically shifting), is exactly what it sounds like: you physacly turn into an animal. There are, however, different kinds of mentalities which are associated with p-shifts. They range anywhere from having a completely human mind to having a completely animal mind.

What is m-shifting?

M-shifting (or menatly shifting) is when the were takes on the mentality of their phenotype. This does not necessarily mean that a werewolf, for instance, will loose all (or even any) of thier human mind. There are different degrees to which one can shift, ranging anywhere from just feeling a "one-ness" with their animal, all the way to crawling around on all fours, barking, growling, etc., etc. I think you see where I'm going with this.

What is d-shifting?

D-shifts (or dream shifts) are when you have Dreams that you are an animal, an animal/human combination (i.e. the old wolf-man movies), or a m-shifted human. Most were believe in messages from the soul in Dreams. Why does that "Dreams" have a capitol D? I hear you ask. The answer is because dreams, with a lower case D, are just that...dreams. Your subconcious mind at work, but Dreams, with the capitol D, are messages from you soul, essence, call it what you will.

What are a-shifts?

A-shifts, sometimes called aural shifts, are a topic of great debate. There are actually a few possble definitions:

  1. A-shifts are when, if you could see auras in detail, you would see a were's aura change from that of a human to that of their phenotype.
  2. A-shifts could also be described like this: you have "shells" of aural energies around you, and when you a-shift, you weaken the human aura, but streigthen the animal aura which is always there.
