Al Capone and Inverness Right picture is the former hideout and "hooch" storage of Chicago's notorious gangster Al Capone in Inverness, Illinois. The building itself is a masonry structure with silos on all four corners. It was in these silos that Capone had his hideaway -- from hidden windows, he and his crew had an unobstructed view of the neighboring countryside and could see any approaching lawman well before they were within striking range. This former illegal brewery is now used as the Inverness Village Hall located at Baldwin Road and Northwest Highway (Route 14).
