"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat."
Theodore Roosevelt

Hi and welcome to my webpage! My name is Jennifer and, yes, that's me in the picture above. I am 17 years old and currently reside in the small South Carolina town of Gaffney, which desperately needs a jazz or blues club. I live with my parents and brother, Matt. I consider myself to be a perfectionist when it comes to my artwork, but definately not when it comes to keeping my room clean. I am also shy until I get to know you, except on the computer. Lots of people describe me as being "wise beyond my years." I don't think I am that; I just like to analyze issues more than most people my age do. I am more interested in political and psycological topics, rather than when I am going to get drunk the following weekend or who is breaking up with who. That bores me to death and it is superficial talk. I don't want to be a philosopher, but I would like to go more in depth and study more about life. I suppose that is why I don't relate well with my peers and get along better with adults, because I can relate more to the issues adults discuss. I just graduated from Gaffney High School!! I was the editor of "Pathways to the Pinnacle", our school's literary magazine, a member of the GHS Teenage Republicans, was a member of the SAT 1000+ Club, and a participant in the 2001 Congressional Art Competition. I am going to school at The Art Institute of Charlotte, where I hope to get an interior design degree. I will begin college on October 1 and can't wait although I'm not too happy about the tuition! I just won a scholarship from Tyco International (my dad's workplace) so that will help out so much! I also just started a new job at Peachtree Centre, a nursing home, in my hometown. It is a fun and even easy job. I really enjoy it and most of the residents there are extremely nice. Anyways... I enjoy doing many things. I like to draw, paint, write poetry, although it isn't the greatest, working on this webpage that I will never be happy with, listening to music, talking with friends, working on the literary magazine staff at school, day dreaming about my future and just sitting and thinking outside when the weather is nice. Speaking of dreaming about the future, after I finally get my Associates Degree from the Art Institute, I really want to move anywhere but here. I really want to visit certain places after I get out of school. Some of them are Greece, Italy, Hawaii, New York, any kind of rain forest :), Alaska, Australia, and maybe even China. Now I have to add the Netherlands to my list (Joe). If I had the chance to move to any of these places besides Maine, I would probably choose Greece. Hey! I love the food! :) I don't want to get married. If you have visited this site before, you probably know that I said I wanted a certain kind of man. Well, so much for that. I don't know... suddenly the thought of marriage frightens me. I don't want to get married to someone who expects me to wait on them hand and foot. No way... that isn't the life I want to live! When I'm still thirty I want to be able to take a weekend getaway without having to ask the husband first. I just want to get up and go... no need to worry about what the husband would say. Even if I do get married, I'm not going to follow my husbands steps. I probably will get married though. I never follow through with things I say I will do. One more thing I hope to accomplish in this life time, is to go to a "cappucino bar". It sounds strange I know, but I really want to do this (I've seen too much television). If you don't know what I'm talking about, don't even worry about it. I love the simple things in life like my grandmothers Cherry Cream Cheese Cake, cappuccino, 7 Up, dance music, candles, incense, my bedroom, Creed, Oleander (the band, not drug), BS shots (it's an inside thing), "Sleepless in Seattle", "You've Got Mail", chinese food, Magic Shell, Dyntene Ice Gum, scrunchies, The Crystal Method (my absolute favorite electronic group), DJ Jurgen, ICQ (my number is 86515412 if you ever wanna get in touch with me), the person I have the most common with in the whole world, *Joe Fox*, Pepsi, romance movies, my CD player and CDs, Hawaiian Ginger lotion, Xtreme Skyflying (I'm on the left in the picture above), (now I'll list some music groups, artists, and musicians)... as I mentioned before, The Crystal Method, Creed, Oleander, Yanni, Eiffel 65, Livin' Joy, Ace of Base (YES, them), Vengaboys, Savage Garden, Meredith Brooks (her song "Bitch" is my theme song), Hole, Lit, Fleetwood Mac, Kenny G (Yeah, Kenny G-the saxophone playin' guy... got a problem with it??), Enigma, Enya, Adiemus, The Cardigans, Bicycle, The Wannadies, Harry Connick Jr., Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday, Moby, Def Leppard, The Coors, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, Brian Setzer Orchestra, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Big Bad VooDoo Daddy (and all other swing bands), Amber, Michael Moog, ATB, Godsmack, KCi and JoJo, Jimmy Durante, B-52s, Bif Naked, Kittie, Incubus, and anything really except Rap, country and most oldies. I like ALLLLL kinds of music besides that as you can tell from the bands and artists I mentioned. I DO NOT like any boybands (Backstreet Boys, N*Sync), bubble gum pop singers (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Mandy Moore), and pathetic rock groups (Limp Bizket). They are all phony and to say it bluntly... they make me wanna puke. Ok... so I am about to run out of words and I know as soon as I log off, I will think of something else. Oh well, please come back to my page soon. I hope to get more stuff on here and update this thing as often as possible. Thanks and remember to sign my guestbook!!! :)
