Riverview Tavern
With views looking over the Ross River and great food, it’s no surprise that the Riverview Tavern is a popular hotspot for locals and visitors. Established in 2003, the Riverside Tavern is well known for its trivia nights, live bands and reasonably priced food.
Short-term, motel-style accommodation is also available for visitors. Contact the Tavern on 4775 5005 for enquiries and bookings.
Parks
Riverside Gardens has more than 30 immaculately manicured parks, so your kids will have ample room to run around. Two of the parks, one located in Regatta Village and the other in Kingfisher Village, offer tennis courts, which can be booked for a small fee.
You can also find barbeques and small rotundas with picnic seating scattered throughout the length of Riverside Gardens, many of which are just metres from the river. All barbeques are serviced regularly by the local council, and are coin operated.
Walking trails and bikeways
At Riverside Gardens, you won’t even need a gym membership! Riverside has more than 15km of tree-lined pathways, most of which run alongside the river. The paths also join up with circuits on the other side of the river, via the Federation footbridge and Nathan Street Bridge, to form a 10,000 Steps circuit.
Riverside Gardens Community Centre
The Riverside Gardens Community Centre is located in the centre of the neighbourhood, backing onto the Ross River. The beautiful centre can be hired for weddings and other events, and also offers a program of classes and meetings in conjunction with the local council. Drop in for a visit or to pick up a program.
The friendly neighbourhood association staff at the Riverside Gardens Community Centre also regularly distribute welcome packs to our newest residents. Watch out for your welcome pack in your letterbox!
The Riverside Gardens Community Centre is also the home of the JCU Rowing Club. New members are welcome - find out about how you can sign up at the Community Centre or visit a training session, held every Tuesday night from 5.30pm.
