Rules of Engagement
yes we do have rules! Here they are:
No Power gaming. That means dont control anyone elses character. There is one exception, if the person has not posted in a while (say like a week, this is flexible) then you may take temporary control to keep the stories flowing. Dont do anything drastic with the character, like kill or seriously injure them.
You may sign up for any original Joe or Cobra that has not already been signed up for. (Hawk and Cobra Commander will be played by the moderators. See special rule below.) You may have a total of 12 characters, original and created combined as well as Joe and Cobra combined, unless given approval by the moderators. (But it is not likely to happen.) As for the Joes and Cobra that have not been signed up for, anyone can use them as an NPC (Non Player Character), anyone can use them at any time until they are signed up for. If you do have mulitple characters, please try to post for all of them as often as you can.
You are entitled to now four created characters for each side (Joe or Cobra). Do not create more than that. The only reason I changed it from one to four is because of the people coming over from the RPGs. Again, only four unless moderators give permission.
Please dont make your character(s) superhuman. Anyone of them can be beaten.
You are allowed to use language and situations. If we, the moderators, say it then so can you. If we dont like it, we'll let you know. We are all s or can act like them. There will be explicit and detailed scenes. Be it , gore and/or language.
Special Gen. Hawk and Cobra Commander rule: the moderators and owner have full control over these two characters. NOBODY ELSE CAN USE THEM FOR ANY REASON!!! If you need either one, just ask one of us. The list of managers are on the board.
When you are RPing, PLEASE write in storybook form. That, in English terms, is third person past. He said, she said, it said. I'm putting it in the rules is because of a different RPG I am involved in and some people don't follow that format. It's very annoying to everyone else to not follow the same style. If you're having trouble with this, please tell one of the moderators or myself, and we might be able to help.
Always, and I mean always check your post for grammar and punctuation. No, I won't ban you or anything, but it's incredibly annoying. Things like run-on sentences and typos, if in too great a quantity, deflect from the actual content of the post. That and always read everyone else's posts so as not to get things confused.
If I need to I will suspend and/or terminate people who break the rules. It is going to be very hard to break the rules, seeing as how lenient we are.
f the post is a extremely long one it needs to be broken up into several smaller posts. Long means 3 pages in Word. Anylonger than that. Split it.
When posting (and you are not doing it on MSN Messenger or AIM) there will be NO 'one-liners.' Please, elaborate on something. What they're doing, or thinking, I don't care. But I would like people to try to make solo posts as much as possible.
In concern with the combined posts. Please just put an easy 'so-and-so said' and maybe a little bit more than that. Again, what they're doing and/or thinking.
Please try to keep the 'soap opera' person lives of the character stories lower in number than the missions. We just want to get as many missions going and a lot of action.
If you are assigned to a mission, there is no getting out of it for any reason. Finish it then you can join or start another story.
There has been at times here a disrespect for the authority of the game. I have appointed people to the task of somewhat controlling the game-play. We try as much as we can to stand back and just play. But if we do request you do something, please just give an over-all respect to the Asst Managers, and esspecialy the GMs.
If anyone has any questions, problems, or concerns, email one of the moderators or myself.
The main rule is HAVE FUN!!
