Past contests:

What is a Pack? Why is it important/unimportant? What should each pack member do in order to keep them all safe? etc.

Tigergurl's Entry:

A pack is a wolf family. It is a band of wolves that life together, learn together, move together, fight together, and act as one when needed. They are all individuals part of something bigger. This is important because a lone wolf is not a strong as many. To survive, a wolf needs a pack. For a member to be safe, they must trust the pack, and help to keep it running by pulling their weight. A pack is a special, wonderful thing, that every wolf, new or old, deserves to be a part of.

Wolfpup137's Entry:

I think that a pack is about friendship, trust, and respect. It's very important because if there was no respect, then the Alpha would not be the Alpha and friendship is important because if the wolves weren't friends, then they'd be enemies and the pack wouldn't be a pack.Trust is also very important because if the wolves didn't trust each other, then missions would be a disaster and there would be no friendship or respect.A pack should have respect for each other, trust each other, and be good friends.

Silver_Wolf's Entry:

I think the pack is all about bring people that like to rp or who love wolves together and then they get to play a wolf and be part of a pack where they won't be judged about what they look like just who they are. It's important because it gives people confidence because they can make friends on the guild that like them for who they are and have things in common with them. I think for each pack members safty they they should just be careful about giving to much information about themselves. (And a really nice thing she said which picked up my day: 'Oh and don't feel bad about people not liking the guild. They'll go find what they're looking for in anthor one. But you did such a good job on the guild. I tryed to started one and I couldn't even get it to center and stay seperated where I wanted it too lol. ')

Send in the story of how your wolf character found this pack. This includes where/how they were born, where they lived, what they did and what happened to them in the past. I want to know everything about your character. A will be making a poll when enough people have entered and everyone can vote for which story they think is the best.

The Entries

Skyrunner, a wolf has born

Before Skyrunner was born, her mother was pregnant. Her parents where both the beta of the pack. Her mothers name was Cloud and her fathers name was Woodhunter. On one day, Cloud was feeling strange. She knew that her pup was going to be born today. She searched for Woodhunter, and when she found her mate, she said: “Woodhunter, I think that my pup will come today! Do you want to go with me to a quiet place?” Woodhunter answered: “My dearest Cloud, I sure know a place to go! Come with me.” Woodhunter turned and walked deeper into the forest and Cloud was following. They walked to a little cave, not far from a river. “I think that this place is a nice place.” Woodhunter said. Cloud nods: “Yeah, me too.”

Later that day, a new pup was born. Cloud looked to him and said to Woodhunter: “What should we call her?” Woodhunter looked to the little pup in front of him. It was his first pup, so he hasn’t got an idea. “I don’t know. Do you a good name?” Cloud nods: “Maybe I have. Look to the pup, it is putting his paws the whole day in the air, and moves her feet, like she walks into the air. Maybe the name Skyrunner is a nice name for this little pup?” Woodhunter looks to the pup again, and yes, Cloud was right. The little pup was moving her feet to the air, and walked on the air. “Yeah, I think you are right. Skyrunner, its a good name for my little pup. I hope that she will become a gamma some day.” Cloud nods. “I’m sure she does. I have full trust in her! Let’s go to the pack again”

The days after Skyrunner was born, she learned many new things: how to walk, to have respect for the other wolves and how to hunt. She had learned too what she could eat, an to run away if there are humans. Skyrunner was a great hunter. She could catch rabbits in no time. And she was a subordinate of her pack. She had no playmates of her age, but she was playing with elderly wolves of the pack. The pack where she was, wasn’t very big. It had around 15 wolves. And on one day, there ere only 2 left. It begun one an ordinary day, when everyone was just doing nothing, and a few where sleeping. But on one moment, there was a shot. Human hunters came out of the forest and where shooting on the wolves. Skyrunner didn’t know what to do. Her parents where running, and they said: “Skyrunner, follow us, where going to the caves where you was born! We’ll be safe there!” Skyrunner looked behind her. The pack was full of panic. She saw that the alphas where dead already. And she saw the humans, shooting on every wolf they saw. She couldn’t say and watch the blood of her pack. She runs to her parents, who could escape with another gamma, but the rest was dead. They where running, running from the humans. But they couldn’t escape. She saw in front of her that she humans where shooting on her parents. Both parents where falling down, dead… Skyrunner cried and she runs faster than ever, and then… The caves! She saw the caves! She looked behind her. The humans where gone. The other gamma was behind. The name of the gamma was One-eye, because he has lost his eye in a fight against a bear. They stopped. One-eye said to Skyrunner: “You are now old enough to find your own way. We must eat and rest one night, and when it is morning, I’m going to find another pack, and warn the other packs around us. And that is what you must do too. Tomorrow morning, we will leave this place forever.” Skyrunner nods. She felt alone. She saw how her parents where shut down while they tied to escape. Skyrunner walked to the river to drink. It was cold so the walked into the cave and tried to sleep.

The next morning, she said goodbye to One-eye and walked away. She was hungry, so she hunts for a rabbit. She was lucky, because a few minutes later, she was eating a delicious rabbit. With full powers, she walks to a pack, close of her old pack. This pack was a big pack, to big to join. She wants to join a smaller pack. She walks to the alpha male and says: “Hello, I am Skyrunner. My old pack was killed by humans.” “So you want to join mine now?” The alpha male answers a bit bored. “If so, you have a bad day. I don’t want you to join. We have enough wolves.” “No!” Skyrunner said “I only want to tell you that you must be careful here. The humans are still here!” She alpha male sighs. “Alright, listen. Your pack was a weak pack, we can handle those humans, don’t worry. And go now, I have something betters to do!” She alpha turned and walked away. “Ok, if he don’t want to listen, he will see those human. But my pack wasn’t weak!” Thought Skyrunner, while she also walks away. She looked to the air. The air was turning dark, with big clouds. “I hope that I’ll find another pack to join soon.” Thought she, and started to run. At the evening, she had warned two other packs. She eats a rabbit and falls asleep.

Next morning, Skyrunner runs again to warn packs. There where no nice packs to join, so she keeps running. After 6 days, she comes to an unknown place. She knows that she must be careful for aggressive packs. She warns and runs when they want to attack her. Another 5 days where passed without finding a nice pack. She starts to think again. “What if I never find a nice pack? What do I have to do then? Start my own pack? No, I can’t start my own pack, I haven’t got enough experience. I have to look farther.” And on the next day, she saw a small pack. The pack looked nice. She walks to the Wolves. And this….. This is the great pack where she is now!

.::* The Life of One Wolf.*::.

.::* .:Snow Wolf:. *::.

Born to a first-time, lone pair. Snow Wolf and her eight other brothers and sisters lay, squeaking and wriggeling in a deep dark den, somewhere long forgotten. Long forgotten by humans, maybe, but never to a wolf who was braught up in it all its early days.

Her first memories were of a warm, wet tongue licking her face and behind her ears. She could not see at the time, so she just started wriggeling and squeaking until she felt a soft and wet nose sniff her and a warm, gentle mouth pick her up and gently set her down near a fluffy body of warmth, her mother's chest.

She could smell something good. Something sweet. She could feel her mothers body infront of her and her new-born brothers and sisters on either side, she had this urge to search her mothers body for something. But for what? She crawled forwards into the mass of fluff, and started sniffing around and in the wall of fluff. She could feel her mother's heart beating. She felt the great throbs and vibrations through her tiny body. Then. Finally. She found what she was looking for. The source of the sweet smell. She clamped onto it, and immediatly she tasted, for the first time, the sweet taste of her mother's milk. She could not get enough of it. But when she had filled her tiny little belly, she curled up in her mother's paws, and silently and sweetly, fell into a deep, deep sleep.

*** ***

Months later, she awoke to the sights and smells of the Outside World. Sadly, two of her siblings didn't make it through the first week or two. The runt died the night it was born, and the other was killed by a rattle-snake when the pup was too curious and stuck it's nose in the rattle-snake's face and got bitten right on the nose. Fortunatly for Snow Wolf and her six other surviving siblings, their parents came home just in time to chase it off.

Her eyes had opened by now and she had ventured into every nook and cranny of the den she was born in. But, as always. Dens get boring after awhile. So, she and her brothers and sisters started to make their way towards the mouth of the den. She could smell the sweet, fresh air from outside when a breeze would blow it into the den. Being the most adventurous pup in the litter, Snow was the first to peer outside.

It was a sunny, hazy day. With butterflys and flys buzzing and fluttering this way and that. And the breeze gently whispering in the trees. To a human, this would have been beautyful. But to a young wolf pup this was the most scary thing to hit the earth since the Asteroide of the days of the dinosuars. She jerked back in. "What's wrong, Snow?" teased one of her older brothers, Marcai. "Scared?". She threw him a scowl .Grr. She thought, I'll show him. She stood up "No. Why? Are you?" she said. "No! I'm the bravest! I'll go out there by all myself and prove to you how brave I am and what sissies all you guys are." retorted Marcai. With that, he slowly made his way to the mouth of the den. With his head held high and his chest puffed up he peered outside. Looking around wearily, he put his paw outside the den - When, all of a sudden, he shot back in with wide eyes and tail between his legs. The puppies all doubled-over with laughter. "Bravest, huh?" said one of Snow's sisters, "Sissies are we?" said another. Marcai could be seen shaking behind a tree root, "I am brave!! It's just that-" he paused "- just that I thought I heard something." he said, still shaking. "Well, if you're brave then I'm Balto!" said one of his brothers, "But. You're not Balto." said the still shaking and, now confused Marcai who didn't get the point. Snow rolled her eyes. "Well. I bet you that I'm just as brave as Balto." she said. "And how will you prove that, li'l miss smarty pants?!" cried all of her brothers and sisters in unision. Just then a cricket started chirping and all the pups ran to the back of the den. "I'll show you." said Snow Wolf calmly. Not scared of the cricket she turned to the den's mouth. Took a deep breath, and, with head held high she ventured out into the open.

When she had taken her first few steps outside she turned to the others and said, "See! I am as brave as Balto, and maybe even braver!" then out of the grass sprang a pheasent which flew up into the air with a squawk. "Ahh!" screamed Snow as she ran back into the den. "Braver then Balto, huh?" teased her brother again. "You be quiet." said Snow with a wolfish grin on her face.

With that the all puppies settled down and fell asleep.

*** ***

Months later, many months later. From the puppy-hood she had known, emerged a nearly fully-grown Snow Wolf. She was mainly whitish-gray with a brownish muzzel and deep brown eyes. She had left her parents and siblings to venture out on her own, but, sometimes, comeing back to visit her family, for she still loved them dearly. She was a good hunter, and rarely ever had an empty stomache. But, empty stomachs wern't as uncommon as one might think for a wolf. She had spent the night in an old hollow in the trunk of an up-rooted tree. Unkown to Snow Wolf as she sprang up on the trunk of the tree, this day would bring much sadness and would change her life, forever.

Today, she was going to visit her family again. When she had last visited, her mother was heavily pregnant with yet another litter, so she was going to help with the pups when she would visit next. Snow streached, getting ready for the trip home. She stooped over the nearest stream to take a drink of cool, fresh water and when she was done she stood up and breathed deep. "Ah. And now for it." she said aloud but to herself. With two long bounds she was over the fallen tree and on the other side. This trip home would be the most devistating trip she would ever have, and very, very nearly, her last.

*** ***

After many, many long miles and over uncountable logs and tree-stumps. She knew she was in her parents small territory. The smell. The feel. The air. The trees. Everything; All stored in her memory as a pup. She leaped through the dry grass and the brambels and the trees with ease. Then, she realized something. She stopped and listend. But there was nothing to listen to, it was all strangely quiet.

She had this sense of forboding, she felt alone and all of a sudden weary of her surroundings. Peering into the shadows, she felt as if she were being watched. With her sharp wolven ears she thought heard something. Breathing, maybe. But she could not be sure. It sounded laboured. It came from the bushes only a little farther from where she was standing. She wearily and very slowly made her way towards the bushes. Then, to her horror, as she peered over the bushes, she saw that the breathing was comeing from a wolf. But it was not just any wolf. It was her brother, Marcai. The same brother who teased her all her puppy-hood days. Now layed there.

He was breathing very heavly, and seemed to be bleeding form his side. He was half whispering and half murmering and it sounded something like "When will I die? But I can't die. Must.. warn.. her" he said struggeling for breath. Snow gasped and ran to her brother, "What happend to you, Marcai?" she said stooping over his face, "Don't worry, Marcai,it is me, Snow Wolf, your sister" he opened his eyes and blinked at her "Snow Wolf? You are still.. alive?... I was going.. to warn.. you.." he said, ever the more labouring for breath. "Shh, shh. Breath deep. What has happened? Where is mother? Who did this to you?" at this point Marcai seemed angry and started sprawling on the ground shouting "They were taken... They.. they took the little ones... all of them.. mother's new little ones.." Marcai was clearly in pain for he started shouting and screaming out at the shadows around him, as if going histericle, then he started coughing up a little blood and then calmed down. Snow Wolf was now very scared, what had happened whilst she was gone? "Where is mother?" she had this feeling that something very bad had happened "And who took the little ones? Who are 'they'?" she asked.

After a moment Marcai seemed to come back to his senses "Mother was killed by them.. and.. father went hunting... but never.. came back.." he paused for a breath "The little ones.. were taken by them.. by the humans.. there were many... they had long sticks.. that shot fire and smoke.." he paused again with a look of pain on his face "...and small stones. They pointed the sticks.. at me and fired upon me.. they killed our.. brothers.. and sisters.. and took them.. there is no one left.. they are all dead..." Snow Wolf didn't know what had hit her. The news of her mother being killed was just too much. She refused to believe him, but, deep in her, she knew he was telling the truth.

She turned to him and said " I must see for myself." but Marcai grabbed her paw " No! They are still there! They will kill you too! Now run! Run away from here! As far as you can.. they will come to look for my body.. if they find you, they will kill you!!" at that moment Snow Wolf heard a snap of a twig and she turned around, and there, infront of her, was a human with his gun pointed at her face. His face was grim, and he had an evil smile to it. He was dark haired and smelled of smoke. "Go now!" shouted her brother as he jumped to his feet. Snow Wolf ran as fast as she could away. Away from the home she once loved, but now it was a place of evil. Whilst she was running she looked back, and saw her brother jump on the human and grab his hand with the gun in it, the man pulled the trigger and sent a bullet up into the trees. Marcai was confused with the bang and loosend his grip. Then the man, seeing his chance, kicked Marcai off him and took his gun and pointed it straight at her brother...

And pulled the trigger....

Snow Wolf looked away and ran.. and ran, and ran, and never again looked back.

That gunshot will always echo in her memory for as long as she will live.

Her memories after that experiance are all blurred. But she remembers that she just kept running, for weeks it seemed, on end. But when she collapsed from exhastion many, many hours later at the foot of an age-old tree, she layed there and fell into a troubled dream full of hate and love, love for her family, and hate for all of them that killed her family.

A year or so later, she teamed up with another wolf, Blade, an Alpha of then a very small pack, and Snow Wolf became a Beta. Since then the Pack has more than doubled it's size.

But, she has never told anyone about her experiance, not even the Pack's leader, whome she is feircly loyal to.

But, now, every one will know.

And that is her story.

BalErel –SsapJhul: A Tale Of

BalErel was a young pup a long time ago. She was born a brown-eyed, snow with gray and brown fleck coated pup with 4 siblings. Orphaned at an early age because her father was overthrown and forced out, and when the pack had to leave to better hunting grounds her mother was unfit and was left behind, for the pack would have starved had they not gone. She traveled with the new Alpha Female as her surrogate mother, and life was indifferent and not-altogether warm. Her legacy was one of a faltering line and weakening blood, so the rest of the pack was sure she would follow the same fate of her den-mates, dead from crippling diseases, malnutrition, or broken bones.

Life for the small pack of 4 members, not including her, was not exactly easy. They held a small land boxed in by four, 8-10 member packs. It was a surprise that they managed to survive at all some winters, when the deer went to greener lands and the rabbits holed up in their burrows. She lived harshly for the first 2 years; she was given the worst parts of any meal if there was anything left at all. The pack she lived with where stone hearted and much-scarred veterans of past encounters with neighboring packs, and did not waste food on a pup, even if it meant that they would die out and lose the control over the tiny plot of land they had died to protect.

By her 4th year she had already learned to be on her own most of the time, her surrogate mother had stopped nursing her a week before she would normal have, food was thin and the herds were moving. She scrounged for most of what she got and did not bother to obtain a place in the depleted ranks, for she knew that there was no love between the wolves, only the driving need to maintain the territory, no matter what the loss.

Her future pack mates often speculated when they thought she could not hear was why she was more interested in her own well-being and was not fully into pack life. Her 5th birthday was when the other packs descended upon the tiny land that was her packs land. It was an easy battle; for the elder wolves had gotten tired and were less interested in maintaining markers for the last months of their freedom. After that they were absorbed by the other packs. She just left to wander about, she did not care where she went, and she joined and left many packs, and many courting mates along her journeys. She never cared much for the other wolves and never got above Subordinate until the old worn wolf retired and she got shoved into Gamma. She left shortly after, for the other wolves grumbled and she was quickly dethroned.

She fought humans along the way, but they were stupid and drunk, looking for a trophy. She often made quick work of them, which did not help her in the long run. By sheer luck alone it seems her pelt was not hanging on someone’s wall. But when she lived with her 'family' she learned quickly about traps and the presence of danger.

Her huge form and shocking colors are a result of her strange parentage and her run-ins with a Were-Bear Cleric of Malar who decided that she was going to be the Sacrifice for the High Feast. She was trapped by the Cleric and the Hunt Master, then starved and angered to the Black Rage, which they call it. The cleric fed off her energies to perform some High Rites the sacrifice called for. It supped the purity from her once serene coat turning black with hatred and the strange blue with the draining of magic. Her eyes were the result of the Hunt Master forcing her head into the stream blessed by the cleric in which she might see the dark god Malar and become fit for the ritual. It forever stained her eyes and cursed her to forever see Malar in everything she sees.

After she escaped during the Great Hunt, she left and unknowingly trembled into the powerful pack of Selune, the guardian of the Moon and all her peoples. The wolves there asked no questions and gave her time to heal. She had a mate, a position, and acceptance. It was not to last long, the taint of Malar was not easily overlooked by most of the higher ranking wolves, and she left of her own accord later, with her mate. But that too was not to last, the Hunt Master was not going to let her slip away that easily. He attacked and killed her mate, and severely wounded her. He took his leg and later learned that he was torn apart and made sacrifice himself, for he was no longer fit enough to reign as Malar's Hunt Master.

After that she roams until she came upon the Fearless Hunters' Pack, she joined them and forgot her past troubles as much as she could. She was huge, gruff, and reclusive. But still she participated more and more into each pack she was admitted to, she though she might stay in that pack...but it was not to last. The pack quickly dissipated after the leader vanished for long periods of time and grew sickly and died. From there she went on to find this Pack, where she still feels like an Omega even if she really is a Beta, but no matter...she's been through worse.

The Story of Lany

Lany was born Lanidoraforsica to her parents named NightWindImagination, her father and MorningStarGentian her mother. They were the Betas of a small pack, and all led their lives well. When Lany was a bit older than a pup, the pack suffered, the pack completely slpit when the alphas secretly left. Her parents would now have to find a way to survive on their own while raising Lany at the same time. Her mother died very soon after that, the grief taking her over. Her father, not wanting to raise a pup by himself, and missing MorningStarGentian, nuzzled Lany as she was sleeping one night, and left her to fend for herself in the small makeshift den. When Lany woke alone that next morning, she knew what her father had done instantly. She was very close to her father, but knew his struggle raising her. Lany was able to stay alive before she found a pack, and was able to join by blending in with some of the pups. She was accepted as one of the alpha's own pups. Lany spent a good deal of her life happy there, but was somehow alone. That was, until as an older adolecent, she found a love. His name was Kherron, and he came from a faraway pack. He was quickly accepted and became a subordinate.

Lany loved him from first site. On one instance, Lany was returned that love from the moment her saw her as well. They were inseperable after that time, for it was true love. The pack she wasin didn't like the love that much. As friendly as Lany had been, she had always been somewhat of an outsider, and spending all of her time with Kherron wasn't helping. The pack began to plot against her. They began to feel a hatred towards her. They thought her to be evil, and wanted to get rid of her for good. The kind alpha that had accepted her had died tragicly by then, and one of his sons had taken over the pack, clearly jealous of the love shared between Kherron and Lany. One fateful night, as Kherron and Lany slept, the pack got ready. The plan was simple, to kill. The pack was vicious, and Kherron woke before they struck Lany. He jumped over Lany, protecting her soft sleeping figure. She woke moments later, but did not know what was going on until Kherrons limp body lay over her, and the pack slowly dwindled from her view. Lany shivered, so scared. The fear of what had just happened pulsating through her veins. She slipped out, and knew in an instant her one and only love was gone. She set her jaw around the scruff of his neck, and pulled. She contiued to pull the body up, and away from the pack, up a mountain to a small cave. She placed Kherron's dead body in there, the body that kept her alive. She then wept for the first time, knowing he truely wasn't coming back ever. It was then that it began to rain very hard, but Lany didn't care. The storm went on for what seemed like days, as she continued cried. It stopped suddenly as a large dark cloud approached, rumbling with thunder and lighting like an ever approaching death. A bolt came down, but it was unlike normal ones. It was of a silvery blue color that shone as if in a dreamworld. It went straight to Lany's heart. Lany thought she was to die right then as the storm unnaturally cleared. She was still alive, and had been granted the power to control storms from grief from spirits that had gone from this world long ago. She got up cautiously, walking to Kherron's cold body, nuzzling him one last time before walking away from the cave. She headed away from her old pack grounds, hoping to find someplace she could call home. As she slept in a crooked tree that night, a voice woke her up. Pasco, a large alpha was standing over her.

Startled she stood quickly, and snapped at him, unsure of what to do. Although the first impression was bad, Lany joined his pack, and became a Beta quickly, hiding her powers as well as she could. The pack had run-ins, and was almost killed off by a large invader wolf, with very unnatual powers like Lany. The only way Lany could think of to make him stop trying to take over the pack was to create a powerful storm. Once she had created this, her fear and rage of everything bottled up inside her was unleashed in the storm. This storm raged havoc on everything in it's path. It burned the pack grounds, causing the members to scatter in all directions, running for their lives. She was able to pick up one of the alpha's pups and runs away from the storm, to the only place she knew was safe. The cave in the mountain. Once she reached this spot, she found Kherron's body still there, seemingly preserved in time. She smiled, shedding a silent tear. Curling up next to Kherron, the pup falling asleep by her warm stomach, she slept. The curious pup woke in the night, and left the cave, never to return.

Lany was done with everything when she found the pup gone that next morning. She couldn't take any more destruction. She walked out of the cave, her thundercloud grey body telling her mind the same thing. She then walked away from the mountain forever. Lany padded on for a long time, living on her own. As she stopped to drink at a lake much time later, she saw Drake fishing. She hadn't seen another wolf in almost nine months, and this was a momentous event. She splashed through the lake, and let out a tiny bark. This bark led her to the Wolf Spirit Pack. She was able to not fear her powers, and was able quit being a hated outsider. She was able to breathe, and stretch her limbs without having to worry. Lany misses her one love, her parents, but she misses being a pup the most. Lany was expected to grow up quickly, and fend for herself more of her short life then being protected in a pack. Her life is a tradegy, but her future is a hope.
