Alchemy.

Please read the section on Components and Currency before reading this table.

Unlike Talisman creation, alchemy is only purchased once, and you can now use all alchemy formulas. To use a formula you must find the Alchemy marshall, Keith Johnson or Dan Comstock at x7383 or J-5-1, or Joshua MacNeil at x3043. They will exchange your components for the desired Currency, or talisman. Most formulas can be found in game through information provideed by NPC, and in game documents such as scrolls. Here are a few forumlas for making currency:

Components can be experimented with, without knowing the actual formula. If you combine lesser components in a way that doesn’t produce an effect pre-determined by the Alchemy Marshall you generate a mundane random effect. If any Greater component was in your formula however a random effect may be generated. The effects range from spectacular to horrific, to mundane, or they simply might not do anything. Whatever the effect though, the components are still considered used.

There are three types of Currency: Quicksilver, Cold Iron, and Spirit Silk. These represent the most widely available and used resources in the dreaming. Any area of the rules that refers to currency will only apply to them. They can be obtained in a variety of ways including alchemy, and through various quest.

Components are a lot more varied, and not nearly as common. They are the ingredients necessary for the alchemy skill tree as well as certain talismans. Some of the lesser components include screws, dropped by golems, Gremlin Hair dropped by gremlins, and Ether dropped by all types of Wraiths Most, if not all, other creatures that wander into the dreaming will drop components when slain. Only someone with the alchemy skill can experiement or use alchemical forumlas.

However, possessing and trading components does NOT require the alchemy skill.

You may refer to the basic alchemy tables and talisman creation tables for more information on the usage of components and currency.
