BlasTech Industries
One of the galaxy's top arms manufacturers, BlasTech Industries is a market leader in the production of personal energy weapons and light artillery. BlasTech also manufactures an extensive line of starship weaponry, including laser and ion cannons and various types of missiles. During the Galactic Civil War BlasTech refused to sign an exclusive sales agreement with the Empire, instead selling its products to any and all buyers. Many of its weapons reached Rebel forces.
The Drearian Defense Conglomerate (DDC) is a medium-sized weapons manufacturer with a strong presence in the Inner Rim planets and the Expansion Region. The company manufactures a wide range of weapons, including blasters, grenades, and missiles. DDC supplies blasters for Arakyd Industries' and Cybot Galatica's security line droids.
Once a leader in military weapons sales, Golan Arms was a top artillery manufacturer until bickering within the Imperial Army's
bureaucracy resulted in the loss of its contracts. When the opportunity came, Golan allied itself with the New Republic. This led to a steady flow of new weapons contracts. Golan does very little of its own research and development, instead copying and refining designs from BlasTech, Czerka, and Merr-Sonn Munitions.
Loronar is a diversified conglomerate that may soon challenge the supremacy of BlasTech, Czerka, and Merr-Sonn in the arms markets. The company has a commanding presence in weapons and productions for decades--its Turbolaser System I emplacements were the Empire's main heavy artillery pieces--and the introduction of newer designs such as the System IV and them obiles MAS-2xB has cemented the company's dominant position. Loronar also has been a very successful starship manufacturer; its designs include Imperiate Strike-class cruisers and torpedo spheres.
Merr-Sonn Munitions is one of the galaxy's top three weapons manufacturers, lagging only slightly behind BlasTech in total sales. The company produces an extensive line of personal and vehicle blasters as well as an artillery and starship turbolasers. Merr-Sonn also manufactures top-selling missile, grenade, projectile, and melee weapons. Other product lines include enhanced electronic sights, targeting systems, and personal defenses and armor. Subsidiaries include Merr-Sonn Mil/Sci, which produces heavy artillery and siege weapons.
There are a number of medium-size and small companies whose products are presented in this section. Atgar SpaceDefense produces the 1.4 FD P-Tower antivehicle artillery piece, while Kelvarek Consolidated Arms manufactures the MM9 wrist rocket used by Boba Fett. Malaxan Firepower Incorporated's extensive weaponry line includes the FWG-5 Flechette launcher and several other projectile and energy weapon designs.
Oriolanis Defense Systems produces many low-tech weapons, including magnetic accelerator guns and the Striker projectile pistol. Pacnorval Defense Systems, Limited, manufactures a full range of sonic weapons, including the Sd-77 sonic pistol and the Sg-82 sonic rifle. Prax Arms builds various projectile weapons, such as the Stealth-2VX palm shooter and the Protector PRP-502 hold-out shooter dart pistols. The Tenloss Syndicate is a powerful criminal organization that manufactures many contraband goods, including the DX-2 disruptor pistol and the DXR-6 disruptor rifle. Timms UniStar Armaments long ago ceased operations, but it had the distinction of building the first beam tube energy weapons.
Various alien cultures have produced notable technological applications. The Dresselians managed to drive the Empire from their world, using only simple projectile rifles. The Jawas of the planet Tatooine developed Ionization blasters for capturing droids. The alien Ssi-ruuk use ion paddle beamers to stun and disable their victims. The Stokhli people created spray sticks to down large beasts on their world's vast savannas. The Wookies developed their formidable bowcasters to deal with the dangerous predators in Kashyyk's jungles.
Melee Weapons
Czerka
The galaxy's third largest arms manufacturer, Czerka produces blasters, artillery, melee weapons, starship weapons, and starship defense systems. During the Galactic Civil War, Czerka reluctantly agreed to establish an exclusive distribution agreement with the empire, although it has been a strong supporter of the New Republic in recent years.
The Jedi Knights guarded the Old Republic from threats for over a thousand generations, using their incredible lightsabers to battle againstthe forces of evil. Before the Jedi were nearly exterminated by Emperor Palpatine, they developed the designs and skills needed to craft lightsabers. These skills have been mastered by Luke Skywalker, who has established his own Jedi academy on Yavin Four.
SoroSuub Corporation is one of the galaxy's most diverse corporations, with interests in starships, weapons, communications and sensors, and droids. During the Galactic Civil War SoroSuub secretly supplied weapons and goods to the Rebel Alliance; the company remains a key ally of the New Republic.
Aeramaxis Technologies is a small manufacturer that produces the Evasive- 13 individual field disruptor. The Gamorreans and the Tusken Raiders of the planet Tatooine are also notable for their development of melee weapons.
Starship and Planetary Weapons and Defenses
Arakyd Industries
Arakyd Industries is still a large droid, weapons, and starship manufacturer despiteits prior Imperial-loyalist position. Arakyd has a highly successful line of droid-brain-enhanced automated weapons systems and designs many prisoner control devices, including nerve disrupters andinterrogation droids. It also manufactures highly advanced droids for the security market, using technology developed for its lethal probots and seekers.
Borstel produces a wide range of starships weapons and defenses, including turbolasers, ion cannons, deflector shield generators, and missiles manufactured for the civilian and military markets.
Chempat is a top developer of deflector shield and sensors technology. The company is jointly owned by Corellian Engineering Corporation and Kuat Drive Yards.
A fierce competitor in the planetary defense market, CoMar is known for its large-scale shield generators and low-orbit blaster artillery weapons.
Corellian Engingeering Corporation (CEC) is best known for its fast starships, but it also maintains a top-flight staff of weapons design engineers. Its laser cannons have top-notch targeting computers, are easy to repair, and are popular with smugglers since they can be upgraded easily.
Frei-Tek first came to prominence as a starfighter design firm, but after its E-wing fighter was nearly grounded because of its instinctive laser cannons, the company moved into the designing of weapons and targeting computers. Frei-Tek now has a line of high-yield laser cannons as well as cluster boms and EchoBurst concussion missiles with advanced homing computers.
After seizing power, one of the Empire's top priorities was the development of weapons that could be used to terrify worlds into submission. While the Empire's top weapon designers developed horrifying siege weapons, such as the superlaser and the Sun Crusher, Rebel Alliance and New Republic forces destroyer those weapons before they could be used against the free worlds on a mass scale.
While Kuat Drive Yards is recognized as a starship designer, the company also has a planetary weapons department that produces laser and ion cannons used to drive off orbiting enemy fleets. Kuat's old-guard executives were quite loyal to the Empire, but a new generation of leaders has worked very hard to earn the trust of the New Republic government.
Seniar Fleet Systems remains one of the galaxy's dominant starship design firms, and expansion into combat vehicles, weapon design, and planetary defenses has strengthened Sienar during the periods of uncertainty and conflict that have plagued the New Republic's rule. While Sienar built ships for the Empire until Grand Admiral Thrawn's defeat, the company now supplies vessels to all buyers, including the New Republic.
Taim & Bak is a smaller weapons company that has a high profile because its designs have been used in many starships, including X-wings, Corellian Corvettes, and Imperial Star Destroyers. The company isstill owned by the Taim and Bak families, although it shares research and development facilities with Borstel Galactic Defense.
Some of the smaller manufacturers include COnner Ship Systems, a maker of specialty starship weapons such as capture nets and space mines. Krupx Munitions is a starship weapons supplier and makes MG7-A proton torpedoes and various concussion missile designs. Phylon Transport produces a wide range of tractor beam projectors for industrial and starship yard applications; its Q7 military-grade tractor beam was designed for use aboard Imperial Star Destroyers.
Sensors and Communications
Corbanti United Electronics
Corbanti is a top sensor manufacturer whose units are used by many of the largest starship manufacturers, including Koensayr and the Corellian Engineering Corporation.
Chedak is a diversified communications company that produces comlink and subspace transmitters and owns several subspace boradcast networks and holographic entertainment studios.
Crozo Industrial Products, an industry leader in biocomp cyborg implants, also manufactures communications and sensor gear for starship,industrial, and personal use.
Cryoncorp. produces a wide array of portable sensor units as well as sensor packs found in various New Republic combat vehicles.
Fabritech has been a leader in starship sensor technology for nearly five decades, and its sensor systems are used in many warships, including all the New Republic's main fighters.
MicroThrust Processors specializes in communications integrations systems. Military contracts account for over two-thirds of its business, although it also develops routing systems for sub-space networks and other transmission systems.
Neuro-Saav is a major electronics and technologies firm with divisions dedicated to imaging system, sensor, communcations, medical biotechnology, and military encryption. It is also one of the galaxy's top cybernetics manufacturers.
Miradyne LImited produces sensor and manning systems including the 4x-Phantom short-range jammer used in the New Republic's A-wing. Rhinsome Tracking Corporation manufactures portable tracking and detection systems.
System Devices
Athakam MedTech/RSMA
Athakam MedTech maintains a strategic partnership with Rhinnal State Medical Academy to produce high-technology medical equipment, including microsurgery computers, cybernetic controllers, and hyperbaric medical chambers.
The Corporate Sectory Authority (CSA) was established by the Empire as a quasi-independant company set up to rule over a vast tract of space and supply raw materials and finished goods to the Imperial war machine. After the Empire collapsed, the CSA closed its borders and internal power struggles exploded into open conflict. The CSA has since resumed trade, but key New Republic officials--including Han Solo--harbor considerable mistrust toward it. Like SoroSuub and the Tagge Company, the CSA is highly diversified.
Ubrikkian Transports is know primarily for its airspeeders and landspeeders, but the company manufactures a number of repulsorlift-equipped goods for industrial and military use.
Other security manufacturers include Corellidyne Visuals, maker of imaging systems and the CQ-3.9x holographic image disguiser. Locris Syndicated Securities manufactures stun cuffs, mobile prisoner cages, and other goods aimed at the security industry. OutlawTech is the fanciful name for a group of criminal slicers who build electronic lock breakers and other security intrusion systems. The Thalassian Slavers Guide--maker of slaving collars--was once one of the galaxy's most infamous slaving groups. It has been disbanded by the New Republic.
General Equipment
BioTech Industries
Biotech Industries is one of the galaxy's top cybernetics manufacturers, particularly in the area of cyborg biocomputer implants. The company is jointly owned by Neuro-Saav and the Tagge Company.
Chiewab is a medical, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals conglomerate. It owns over six hundred planetary systems and devotes considerable resources to exploring planets to find plants that can be synthesized into valuable biotech goods. These products are spun off to subsidiaries such as Geentech Labratories and Chiewab Nutrition for development and marketing.
Industrial Automaton, one of the galaxy's largest droid companies, also produces drones,computers, and automated machinery.
The Tagge Company is one of the galaxy's largest and most influential corporations. It is also one of the few large, privately held companies, and sixty-five percent ownership by the Tagge family. TaggeCo. owns hundreds of subsidiaries, extending its reach into just about every conceivable market, and it was also the primary sponsor of the Corporate Sector Authority. TaggeCo.'s executive board was populated by staunch Imperial loyalists throughout the Galactic Civil War, although the company's operations are now supervised by New Republic observers.
Figg and Associates, Ltd., maintains substantial mining interests on Cloud City and manufactures carbon-freezing chambers. Gandorthal Atomospherics, maker of the Roamer-6 breath mask, specializes in survival and atmospheric processing equipment. Karfllo Corporation is a mining, exploration, and xenobiotechnology company; its G2-GE beamdrill is one of dozens of heavy industry products. Lerrimore Contracting Co. has over threehundred subsidiaries and manufactures a wide range of household goods, appliances, and furniture. MicroData Technologies, maker of the Companion2000 datapad, is a mainstream computer and droid components manufacturer. Mitrinomon Transports is a personal transporation firm with a wide range of jet and rocket packs. Plescinia Entertainments is a holographic imaging company. Pretormin Environmental is a small company with interests in the fields of environmental control, exploration, and survival gear; its GX-8 water vaporators are very popular. Regallis Engineering and Udrane Galactic Electronics both produce computerized tools for mechanics and other technical professions. Zaltin Bacta Corporation, based on the planet Thyferra, is one of the galaxy's top two bacta producers and controls over four hundred different planets for the cultivation of alazhi, a critical raw material used in bacta production. Zaltin also manufactures bacta tanks.
