Alchemy Apparatus Construction
The most ritualistic forms of alchemy, those that rely on the simplest equipment and supplies, uses the alchemy apparatus at its center. Also called as a focusing chamber, it uses both Force and Sith magic to charge the very materials and environment with dark power. Through the actual apparatus can be of a variety of materials, both organic and non organic, it is always shaped into a dome.
Due to the simple creation, though lengthy preparation, of the alchemy
apparatus, the only Sith school required is Alchemy. The following are the few materials needed to create the focusing chamber: Bones, wood, or metal- This is the chief material used to create the
actual structure. The shape of the pieces of material are mostly up to the
desire of the alchemist, but consideration of strength and the structure's shape
must be kept in mind. Chisel- This simple tool is used to inscribe the runes of power on to
the bones, wood, or metal. A motorized chisel can be used for metal
inscriptions. Talisman of Concentration- Used to focus the power of the alchemist.
To be worn during all steps in construction. The first step to creation the focusing chamber/alchemy apparatus is to
consider the site where the chamber is to be built. Whether on a starship, in a
temple, or deep within the ground, location and atmosphere is critical. The
Force flows through all things, and this includes the chamber's location. When
the site has been determined, it must be first purified and then 'contaminated.'
The process is highly ritualized and personal, linking the alchemist to that
location and the unique Force flow of the place. Depending on the alchemist, a
silent prayer to the Sith gods or the murder of innocents can be used. Once the location is permeated with the Dark Side, whether from murder or
long periods of dark prayer, the actual physical steps are to commence. The
materials are inscribed with runes and painted with the alchemist's own blood.
Considering the size of most chambers, this can be a lengthy process. The
materials are imbued with the alchemists hatred, anger, and greed. Once the
materials are sufficiently tainted, the final shaping is begun. For a one to three months (depending on chamber size), the chamber is slowly
constructed. Once every 24 standard hours, an hour is spent in deep meditation
and manipulation of the Force. Much like a lightsaber or Sith sword, an alchemy
apparatus is tied to its creator's very essence, strengthening his tie to the
very materials and space inside the chamber. Once the chamber is completed, another full week is required to shift reality
and bend the Force into a clotted knot. Once these final rituals are completed,
the alchemy apparatus is complete and it is fully usable. Inside an alchemy apparatus, its creator has a temporary +2 Force bonus.
Other Sith Alchemists have a +1 Force bonus, while non-Alchemists have no such
bonus and Lightsiders have a -1 Force penalty.
