The Realm of Midgard’s goal is to simulate medieval/fantasy-style warfare (this is a FULL-CONTACT sport) while allowing members to create clothing/costuming, weapons, and history of their choice. This improvisational warfare revolves around having fun, but foremost, having fun SAFELY. Although the rules are similar in each individual realms (what groups are referred to as), many rules may differ slightly from group to group. The following items are only true to the Realm of Midgard. The Realm of Midgard is made up of members of age 15 and up from the surrounding areas. Many members also enjoy playing such other games as Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering, and other role-playing games placed in a medieval or fantasy settings.
Each battle simulation involves combat with foam-padded weapons made to simulate the real thing. In most cases, "weapons" are made of fiberglass fully covered in foam, cloth, and duct tape. Each "weapon" must adhere to standards set by the Dagorhir for safety. These standards include, but are not limited to: materials allowed in weapon construction, length, flexibility, etc. Each weapon is tested before it is allowed onto a battlefield. Should the weapon be considered unsafe by Arms-Master (people designated to check for weapon safety) or a Herald (those designated as "umpires"), the weapon is pulled off the field until it can be repaired to meet safety requirements.
Come check us out. We hope to see you soon and Have fun ALL.
MIDGARD: The Realm of Mankind. This is the earthy bit of Norse cosmology where all the humans live.
Midgard actually means 'Middle-earth', the place sandwiched between heaven and hell. Tolkien fans will notice yet another instance of Norse inspiration here.
The (Dagorhirion) Realm of Midgard is a new realm (chapter). We hope to "turn some heads" this year and to prove to be something that is going to be around for many years to come.
