Class Features:

  • Weapon and Armor Proficiencies
    Sorcerers are proficient with the Basic Weapons group plus either the Spears Group or Crossbows group. They are not proficient with any type of armor, nor with shields.

  • Spells
    A sorcerer has access to arcane spells, the same type available to wizards. However, there are two key differences of note. First off, the sorcerer has access to a limited number of spells that they can have in their repetoire, as seen on the chart above. Second, sorcerers cast spells as if they were spell-like abilities for most intents and purposes. The one exception is that if any of your chosen spells known has an XP cost, you must still pay it as normal.
    Sorcerers gain a set number of spell points per day with which to utilize their spells/spell-like abilities. They also gain an additional amount of spell points to cast per day based off of their Charisma.
    To learn or cast a spell, you must have a Charisma of at least 10 + the spells level. The difficulty for saving throws against sorcerer spells is 10 + the spells level + the sorcerers Charisma modifier.
    If you are unable to cast a spell of a higher level slot (for metamagic purposes) that the class grants because of the above restriction, you still gain the spell points of the appropriate level.

  • Familiar
    At any time in your career, you may call a Familiar, a magical animal of some type. To do so takes one day, and 100 gp worth of materials. You may choose the type of familiar that you call, and as you increase in power so does your familiar. If the familiar should ever die or you choose to dismiss it, you must attempt a Fortitude save (DC 15). If the saving throw fails, you lose 200 experience points per class level. A successful saving throw reduces the loss to half that amount. Your total can never go below 0 as a result of this happening. A slain or dismissed familiar cannot be replaced for at least a year and a day. Slain familiars can be raised from the dead just as characters can be, but they do not lose a level or Constitution point when this happens.

  • Bloodline Feat
    Bloodline feats serve to represent the heritage that bestows sorcerous power upon you. At 1st level, you choose from one of the Bloodline Feats listed below, after which time you are forever bound to that particular bloodline (for the purpose of acquiring additional Bloodline-related feats, if you choose to take any).
    Each bloodline grants a specific set of bonus spells that you add to your spells known, at the appropriate levels. The various bloodlines also have a set restriction to go with them. (The latest version of the Bloodline feats can be found in Dragon Compendium I. If you do not have access to the book, and have any questions, simply ask the DM.)

  • Bonus Feat
    Every five levels, a sorcerer gains a bonus Feat. This Feat must be a metamagic feat, an item creation feat, or a bloodline feat (appropriate type only; see above). Please note that these bonus feats are in addition to those gained normally with each character level advancement.

  • Spell Slot
    Epic level sorcerers gain additional spell slots according to the class table above. In addition to being able to learn a new spell of any level, sorcerers also gain additional spell points when the bonus spell slots are gained. For casting purposes, these slots may be used for the purpose of metamagically enhanced spell limits.
