Prior to becoming a member of the exclusive S.T.A.R.S., Alex Shayne served as a Special Ops in the U.S. Marine Corps. Skilled in vast weaponry as well as hand to hand combat and minor bomb making, along with minor piloting, Alex was a sheer candidate for the S.T.A.R.S. Team. However, Alex's cockiness and bad attitude caused him to be demoted from the group four different times, including a transfer to the Raccoon City Section. Finally Shayne had proven himself again, retaining his Lieutenant rank and becoming a S.T.A.R.S. Member once again. With his arrival in Raccoon City, Alex would find an old friend and one time interest in Melina Andrews, who was dispatched to Raccoon City long before him. While Alpha and Bravo Teams were sent in to the Mansion, Alex and the few others were dispatched around Raccoon City due to leads from the public. When the infection began to spread in the city, His entire team but one, Agent Andrews fell to the creatures. Melina and himself were separated from the entire living RPD survivors and running for his life. Like many others, Alex is fighting his way out of the horror, with minute by minute of hoping for survival. Armed with the standard supply of his twin .45's and the basic S.T.A.R.S. kit, Alex continues through the city with her, looking for any sign of life, not his own to cease.
