Professor Snoot

“Don’t touch anything. Take your assigned seats. I said don’t touch anything!” Professor Snoot glowered through thin glasses attached by a heavy chain to his robe. His pinched-looking nose led the rest of his face in a survey of the students there. “The first lesson will be on safety procedures.” An enormous pile of papers floated across the room to his hand. “Caring for Magical Creatures is a dangerous business for those who do not follow the proper safety procedures. It is also a dangerous business for anyone who feels they are above my instructions.” Only a nervous cough from the back interrupted his steely glare around the room. Several students made themselves mental notes not to irritate the skeletal man at the front of the room. “We will not be handling actual creatures until the last part of the year, once we have covered Safety, Feeding, History, Habits: Daily and Nocturnal, Classification, and Habitat. Please open the manuscripts on your desks to page fourteen hundred, and begin filling out the worksheet I will pass out.”
