Brief History: Born in Britain her family boarded ship and sailed to America: “The land of freedom.” Her parents had said. She had been at the age of five. Her family later settled in Salem, Massachusetts. At the age of sixteen she was accused of witchcraft as were many of the other women who lived in Salem, the only thing was well she was a real witch. At her trial she was of course declared guilty, her sentence: death. She was to be burned on the stake at dusk. The whole day seemed to go on forever to her until dusk came. Just when they were about to put her to her death someone in the crowd shouted, “Release that woman now!” The voice belonged to Ryana one of the wealthiest women in Salem it was rumored that she too was a witch for she only came out at night but no one dared to accuse her.
The town magistrate stood up from his chair, “Lady Ryana we intend to put this spawn of Satan to death with or without protesters.”
Ryana too stood up everything was silent the only sound that could be heard was Katherine’s pounding heart. Ryana looked at Katherine smiled reassuringly then she looked back to the town magistrate, “I will buy her as a slave from you and we both shall leave from town.”
The magistrate laughed, “Oh but you are just a mere woman and could not care for a witch and besides you don’t have enough money and on another note I cannot let a witch go free.”
“Money is not a problem, as for taking care of her I can do that well I assure you, and as for letting a witch go free I can already tell you that she is nothing but what you and I are mortal.”
“If you say she is human then prove it, a test of some sort will do fine.”
“You dare to defy me?”
“Well uh….uh…you can’t prove she’s mortal.”
”And you can’t prove she’s a witch.”
“But we can! We have all the evidence plus the testimonies from the other villagers, even her own mother and father accuse her of it.”
“Ha! You call those testimonies? You pay these people to tell lies!”
Suddenly the whole crowd fell silent they all appeared to be in some kind of strange trance. Katherine’s eyes looked around the crowd wildly,” I didn’t mean to do it honestly!”
Ryana looked around surprised as Katherine was. She has not done this but who was it? She looked at Katherine she knew she was a witch but she didn’t know how powerful. After a few moments Ryana had appeared beside Katherine and started to untie her. Katherine looked at Ryana as she untied her, “You move very quickly but I still saw you move.”
Ryana stopped untying her and looked at Katherine shocked, “How…?”
Katherine didn’t say anything; Ryana nodded and finished untying her. When the crowd had come out of their trance Ryana and Katherine had left. For a few months Katherine had served as Ryana’s slave. It was in those few months that Ryana had revealed to Katherine that she was a vampire and she also told her that she was very powerful but needed to control that power. Katherine quickly agreed with her on that subject. A few days later Ryana had given Katherine the first bite but it was not forceful Katherine had let her. As time went on Ryana helped her control her power and also given her the other bites making Katherine her human servant.
