~~~The years were progressing and there was the constant question between the government's best genetic and mechanical scientists of, "Can we create a Super Soldier?" No matter how many times they dismissed the idea and let it sink, it kept tenaciously resurfacing, bringing with it new excitement as technology developed. Finally the decision was made to attempt creating the first Super Soldier, and one Doctor of the Biological Genetics Inc. had an idea..
~~~Years of experimentation proved unsuccessful as the first creations, made from well rounded, mentally healthy humans, ended up with terrible mental diseases. It seemed hopeless. Unwilling to give up, the Doctor took a different path and instead used psychologically unstable people; jailed humans that had been sentenced to death, such as rapists, murders, serial killers, and child molesters. Success: he had the first perfect soldier--"Version Alpha".
~~~But it was not to be. The Alphas were brutal, vicious, mean, without conscience, and extremely dangerous, even to each other. Horrified, the Doctor ordered that the experiments were ceased and all products of the Alpha Versions were to be destroyed, calling them an "uncontrollable weapon". However, he was soon after murdered and his order was never released. Then the Alphas escaped their "home", the Alpha Compound, nearly killing all of the personnel. For months after humans waged a quiet war against the Alphas but none succeeded, and air raids drove the Alphas deeper into ground.
~~~After the revolt, later called "The Alpha War", a woman picked up where the Doctor left off, creating 12 perfect Super Soldiers: the Beta Version, Biogenes, whom proved superior to their predecessors on a 1-2 ratio. Not for another year and a half would the Main Bases of the Alphas be destroyed and the Alpha Version hunted down to the last, or so they thought. The collapse of the Soviet Union was used to cover up the Alpha War, and the Beta's are now active weapons of the Bio-Gene Corp.
It is many years later now and the security of the belief that all Alphas were destroyed is still strong among the Beta's and those left who know the history of the Biogenes. However, they are imperfect beings created by imperfect beings, and to err is more than human..

~~~Torrance MacLaren is the last living Alpha Version Biogene, unbeknownst to all Beta and Charlie versions and humans. After the escape from the Alpha Compound she separated herself fully from the other Alphas, wanting nothing to do with them as she found herself "higher" than they were. Perhaps a bit bitter that they let Charles, the "leader" of the Alpha Versions be killed by one of the Beta, she decided to fully rid herself of all contact and knowledge of others like her. Fleeing secretly to Attone, she changed her appearance a total of 23 times to aid in hiding her "trail" and keep from being tracked down.
~~~She spent a good while in Attone before city-hopping to keep herself from becoming a target, and while doing so discovered news that was both disappointing and delightful at the same time: the Alpha Version was wiped out. All save her but the Beta and their creators weren't aware of that. Sitting in the bar she listened as two ignorant members of the government discussed the details of the Alpha holocaust in undertone: all of the Alpha Versions were dead, though there was said to be maybe one or a couple unaccounted for, but they were believed to have been wiped out as well. The Beta Versions were the government's new perfect weapon; a brilliant creation that brought shame upon the Alpha..
~~~Annoyed, angered, and insulted by this claim, Torrance left the bar, reminding herself she couldn't kill the two arrogant bastards because that would expose her. Traveling in stolen cars with stolen money, she headed back to Attone and bought her own car. She resides within a vacation home near the bay, and upon returning to her home she began to map out plans to destroy the Beta Versions...to prove that the Alpha were always, and still are, superior.
