| ~~~Born
of the god Mirrik, son to the Goddess of Life--Gella, and a human Priestess
by the name of Naverie Tranell, Gadriehl of the Nivir led a peaceful life
in a small village on the outskirts of the Qwyrel Forest. During the chaotic
time of her birth, when women whose wombs had been quickened by the seed
of Mirrik, Gadriehl was one of the very few who was not murdered upon being
born, though still feared by many because of her paternal lineage. Her mother
loved her even considering what she was, and brought her up as she might
have done with a normal human child. Naverie taught her everything she knew
of the Priestess ways from the healing arts to Divinity Lore. When Gadriehl
reached the age of 10 she was put into a Temple of Priestesses to be learned
the disciplines of concentration, meditation, and to be taught how to use
her Priestess powers. ~~~When she became 16, she was transferred to the Temple of the Gods where she would learn extensively about every god and goddess that existed, their power, their personality, their achievements, mistakes, their love, abhorrence...everything. She was also introduced to the Holy Scrolls where she was taught about their meaning and potential. Through her years at the Temple she learned how to read, write, and speak some of the ancient languages, much quicker than did others. By the time she was 18, she was ready to leave and go into the world, but the "abbey" of the Temple wouldn't have it, saying she was too young to leave. For four years further she remained, serving as an apprentice of Lore here and there, and even teaching novices. Then she decided it was time for her to leave. The "abbey" still didn't want to let her go, saying she still was too young to leave, but after challenging him in her knowledge and skill, and even a bit of wit, he decided that she was ready to leave, in spite of her young age. ~~~So at twenty-two she left the Temple of the Gods and traveled back to her home town, moving back in with her well-aged mother. During her few years after, she traveled to many places in the country, offering her services where she could, and learning about life in general outside the temples she grew up in. Satisfied with what knowledge she gained, she returned home once more and kept her work at the Temples, mostly with the Scrolls. Prophecy was always her forte, and so she spent much of her time with those particular scrolls, especially those that spoke of the one who would deliver man from the Crecha. . . |
