~~Her
mother died during childbirth and her sheriff father raised her the
only way that he could: a gunslinging tomboy. When she was 5 years old
he started teaching her the rules about gun fighting--as he was a gunslinger
before he became a sheriff-- and taught her all about the anatomy of
guns. The first gun she ever used was a Smith & Wesson's .45, her
daddy's favorite. After a few years of training from her father, her
aim was perfect and her draw was quick for a 9 year old. At age 10 she
went with her father to work one day and a gun fight broke out on the
street. Having developed her father's love for justice she drew the
.45 he had given to her that year on her birthday and aimed it at the
man who started the unfair fight. Althea, a young girl of 10, pulled
the trigger.
~~The man went down but another replaced him, a man who happened to be her "victim's" brother. Althea's father stepped up behind her and drew his gun, but was more intent on getting his daughter out of the way. He wasn't fast enough and aiming wildly, the man shot her father through his windpipe, killing him instantly. . . She had always felt guilty for her mother's death, and then she felt guilty for her father's death, as well. Determined to make them proud of her, she sought out an old gunslinging friend of her father's to raise her up and teach her more about gun fighting. Her father had been known simply as "Church" when he was a gun fighter, and he was the best gun fighter of his time. Her mother, Althea had been told, was very proud of her father. If Althea became the best gunslinger of her time, she knew that her mother and father would be proud of her. So for 7 years she stayed with her father's friend, getting a good education of other things at the same time. By the time she was 17 she was quicker than anyone in NY, and determined to see justice. She left the old man and headed for Dodge City, where on her first day a crazy man(Diego Cortez) opened fire on her. She won, granting him death in the end only because he wanted it. She's law without a badge. |
