THE NOBLE COURT
The Noble Court:
To mortal eyes, The Nightingale appears as a small, but clasy
restaurant, catering to the jazz-loving population of Necropolis. Inside,
the air is perpetually smoky, done in dark wood, with a series of round
tables able to seat four gathered around a stage at the back of the room.
The Nightingale is famous around the city for paying local musicians to perform live,
as often as they can find someone willing. When they can't find someone,
they have a DJ who plays only the finest of classic jazz. The restaurant has a
liquor license, but only serves wine and imported beers. Though he remains
unobtrusive, there's a bouncer on duty at all times, and he's more than
willing to remove any troublemakers. In the back, next to the stage, a door
is marked "PRIVATE: DO NOT ENTER". It remains locked at most times, and only
those with business there even realize that the door exists.((Protected by a
Veiled Eyes cantrip))
To fae eyes, The Nightingale appears far more looming from outside. Not exactly
intimidating, but far from welcoming, the building seems to grow just a bit
taller and the shadows around it grow a bit deeper. Inside, the bouncer, a
loyal kinain with the ability to percieve the Dreaming, surreptitiously
hands any fae who enters with a key to the private room.
Behind the door marked "Private" is a large, tastefully decorated room.
Pictures of famous jazz musicians line the walls, mamy of them autographed
despite the fact that the person depicted died many years ago. A pool table
lies in one corner, and a small bar lies in the other, unobtrusive. A
rectangular oak table sits at the head of the room, cast in shadow. No one
sits at this table except for the occasions when the court is in session,
and even then only the Baron or his advisors would dare sit at the table. On
the wall opposite the bar, close to the pool table, a large fireplace sits,
despite no chimney being noticeable from the outside. This fire burns
merrily in all weather, but the room never gets to an uncomfortable
temperature. Chimera frequently enter the room to relax in front of the
balefire. Behind the table, cloaked in deepest shadow, lies a door that has
no obvious representation on the outside of the building, carved with a
black rose in the center, allowing fae to enter and leave through the
Dreaming should it become necessary, though the Council frowns on overuse of
this door.
