The episode begins with Ruth, Thomas and Charles waiting at the Watcher’s Council’s Castle, which is nestled somewhere in sunny Devon. They have been there about a week, waiting for the reward for defeating the evil Sorcerer Marcus, for about a week now. (The Defeat of Marcus occurred in a previous adventure called “The Return of Dark Marcus” which was run at the Student Role-play and war-gaming Nationals this year in Bradford, England. Ruth was a PC while Marcus, Thomas and Charles were PCs in previous adventures who appeared as NPCs in the game.)

While Charles is undergoing some routine maintenance, a young watcher arrives at the door informing Ruth and Thomas that something is happening in the Memorial Room, and the Council requests that they go and see what it is. When they get to the Memorial Room, there is a swirl of mystical energy around several plaques on the wall, including those belonging to Marcus and Alex. Analysing the temperature reveals that it is colder here than room temperature, and they assume that a ghost is forming. Very rapidly Alex is reconstructed in front of them, who dives at Ruth, not noticing that some time has past since he was killed. He goes straight through her, and Thomas who moved to stop him. After the Council run some tests, they deduce that he is a normal ghost, just of a vampire with a soul. The now reunited cast are now able to go on the holiday.

Unfortunately shortly after they land in San Francisco, they are contacted by the Council and are told that they need to go to Pittsburgh as a dark power is rising. With a small amount of moaning they rent a van and begin to head to Pittsburgh.

That night, they stop in a questionable motel, and head to the adjoined bar. Inside they spot a vampire trying to seduce a scantily clad female. While Ruth and Charles argue about how to deal with the vampire, Alex and Thomas attempt to see the extent that Alex can interact with the world. They have ascertained that he can stand on the ground, and keep up with both an aeroplane and a van, he is unseen by most mortals, Ruth, Charles and Thomas have no problem seeing him, he is unable to pick up a pint glass, but can move it with great effort using the telekinetic abilities that he had in life/undeath. While Charles and Ruth “discuss” the vampire, he leaves with the female. Alex steps through the wall, while Thomas and Charles subtly head for the door; Ruth stays in the bar, but opens a telepathic link with Thomas. Moving faster than the human eye can see, Charles draw a stake and throws it at the vampire’s back, his aim was slightly off however, and the stake hits the female in the back, killing her instantly. Thomas stays in human form, charges across the car park towards the vampire, who spins around to see who killed his prey. Thomas swiftly dispatches the vampire with the stake from the woman’s back and then heads back into the bar. Alex goes back through the wall, while Charles deals with the body.

Just before sunset the following day, Ruth spots a hitchhiker, who appears to be nearly dead from exhaustion and exposure to the sun. Shortly after bringing her aboard she stabs herself and the van spins wildly out of control, leaving the van completely wrecked. The cast hot foot it to the truck stop they noticed on the map.

Ruth orders cherry pie from Peggy, who is working behind the counter, and the Sheriff offers to take her back to they van and seeing if he can get it working, while Thomas and Charles stay at the truck stop and get some coffee (They told him that they had broken down, and didn’t tell him about the hitchhiker). Ruth declines (she has telepathy, and the only thing that she saw in his mind was the basics of staying alive, and naked females, including the hitchhiker and herself.) Thomas tells the Sheriff that he will go with him, but when they get to the car, he attempts to bash the Sheriff on the back of the head, and steal his car. Unfortunately for Thomas, the sheriff shrugs it off, and 12 zombies erupt from their grave, including the friend of the hitchhiker. During the fight, Ruth was shot, and nearly killed by the sheriff, but was thankfully cured with a little First Aid by Charles. After the combat finished, Thomas burst through a hidden door in the kitchen and with a little help from Alex found Peggy in her hidden temple. After a tough fight against the zombies, Thomas managed to get to Peggy, and broke her necklace, which caused all the zombies to return to death, but also released a ten-foot tall red demon who could spew fire, and had replaced one of his arms with a chainsaw, luckily he was more interested in leaving then killing the group and after a small fight he simply vanished.

Thomas and Charles helped Ruth get in the car, and they rush her to the hospital in Pittsburgh. Alex meanwhile senses that some people are waiting for them and teleports himself, through Death Realm, to meet them and apologize for the delay. As they sped off towards the horizon, a pair of sinister eyes watched, and a laugh escapes from an unseen mouth. The eyes glances to the left, “Go, follow them, make sure that the girl doesn’t get interrupted. We are too close.”
