The Defeat of Dark Marcus

This Episode was a one-off game played at the Student Roleplay and Wargaming Nationals 2005 in Bradford. The game introduced a new wave of PCs, who quickly met with the PCs from my previous games. It was played twice but the information is presented as the game from the first day, as it seems a lot more interesting. The description is told in the first person by Ruth, information that I wrote for the person who was going to play Ruth in the series.

"A little while ago you thought that vampires were just the thing of books and cheesy old horror films. That was before you discovered that those thingsthat go bump in the night are more real than you could ever imagine. About a year ago, one of your close friends started to act really weird, you know like the superheroes on television, where they are never around when something interesting is happening, or always coming up with excuses for breaking their promises. Then she saved you from this jerk that attacked you when you were on the way home from the cinema, another of those meetings that she was too busy for. Well, she sure stunned you, she knew more martial arts moves than Jackie Chan and seemed to have super-human strength to boot. After you calmed down she filled you in, she had been called as a Slayer, one of many, who protect against those who wish to harm the humans, you liked the sound of that, and you wanted to help her out whenever it was possible. After a few weeks of working with her, trying not to die, and spending time identifying monsters with her watcher, she came across a murder scene. When she took you and her watcher to investigate, you noticed what looked like the murder weapon, a curved dagger. When you touched it, it reached into your mind, you felt the killer, who much he wanted to sacrifice the poor woman, and you felt the pain of the woman as she died. With these new-found powers you are now able to help the Slayer out more often, both researching, and on the scene. Her watcher calls the power Psycometry, you don?t really know what to make of it, but you hope that it won't get in the way of your normal life." -information from the Character Sheet.

Well, it seems that psychometry has gotten in the way. it started early on Friday morning. Peter, Wanda's watcher, received a summons to the Watcher's Council HQ, and told to bring his Slayer, and any helpers that she might have, that meant you. They were putting together a special squad to deal with some artifact that had been discovered in Manchester, they needed it stolen. Things were got really interesting when you arrived because a large demon had beaten you to it. The Watchers told you that a similar artifact was in Portland, Oregon, and was being monitered. We were set up with a teleportation spell, that while needing some perfecting eventually got you to where you were going. (The first attempt left me behind, along Wanda's clothing. On the second attempt left both sets of clothes behind, they were sent through about 5 minutes later.)

When we finally found what remained of the Watcher we were sent here to meet, he had been a robotic humanoid, he slightly suffered in the explosion that leveled the hotel. He told you that Thomas had gone to the museum and gave you directions. Thomas, turned out to be a large, blue humanoid demon. He brought you up to speed about the exact details of "Dark" Marcus. Thomas led the way to the artifact, the 'Orb'. The lead demon if the cult was already there, along with the sorceror. The Leader introduced himself as Gogzokor the Wielder of the insane sword, and left with the 'Orb', leaving the cast a cryptic clue to the final piece of the puzzle, and with Asek, the manipulator. A small bout of research later, Peter found the identity of the final item, something called The 'Heart', and a quick phone call later lead to a location and another teleportation spell (This time, I was only set on fire, it hurt a lot, but at least I was fully clothed at the other end.)

Finally somewhere nice, a office somewhere in London, owned by Alex. I am not sure if he is a human, he is giving a weird vibe. While the rest of my group were planning how to prevent the cult from stealing 'The Heart', I tried something incredibly stupid (at least with hindsight) i attempted to 'read' the stone. I saw death, pain, fire, and large 'M'. After the reading, I was thrown backwards across the lab and became incorporeal. As soon as I came back into the room, the demons attacked. After we took out those that were visible, we found that the Leader had snuck in under the cover of the fog, and in the chaos of the fight. We gave chase, and fought the demon. During the fight, I resolidified, thankfully, and grabbed 'The Orb'. When Gogzokor was killed, he finished the ritual with his own blood. It seems that the dimensional energy given off by the magick reacted badly with me. I can't remember what happened really. I felt like I was being teleported, and then wound up in the gutter, on fire and naked. That really hurt. Then I lost all the minor amount of diginity that I had left. I really can't remember what happened, but we needed to get the British Museum, to get a knife that could kill Marcus. Anyway, I lost all of my diginity. Larten picked me up, slung me over his shoulder and charged through the streets of London, albeit twisted into something closely resembling Hell, completely naked.

I may have lost conciousness on the run, but I was jolted awake when he threw me through the window of the museum, I really don't like him. I quickly limped to the exhibit and donned a kimono a nice silk kimono. The rest of the group grabbed the knife and just in time, Marcus arrived. With a small feat of dextrity, most of us dodged the walls as the shifted. Unfortunately Becky was entombed in the wall. While the fight raged with Marcus, Becky teleported herself out of the wall, it seemed like she forgot to bring her clothes with her and she also donned a kimono. After a few spells were slung and crossbows fired we finally saved the day.
