Pipe Dreams Coffee House

Located on one of the quieter streets in one of Chicago's many buisness districts is a large 2-Story brick building bearing two shop fronts. The eastern store identifies itself as the Book Den. It's a small, but well-stocked afair, signs proclaiming special orders are welcome and boasting of a unique selection bearing both best-sellers and the esoteric. The second door is labeled Pipe Dreams Coffee House, with a smaller sign depicting a schedule of open mic nights, band appearances and poetry readings.

Stepping through the door brings you into a large room. The floors are hardwood and carefully polished, the walls painted soft tones, bearing various signs, local band posters and concert advertisments. On the left, next to a sign labeled "Game Room" is a set of spiral stairs that wind their way into the ceiling while directly ahead is a counter bearing a register and a list of drink prices. Numerous styles a flavors of coffee as well as sodas and juices are offered. A door beyond the counter leads presumably to the kitchen and storage rooms. On the far right wall is a small stage. A podium with a microphone stands on one side, a jukebox waits just off the other. Between the door and the stage rest a half dozen circular tables, while numerous booths adorn the walls, broken only by the hall leading to the rest rooms on one wall and a large, well-stocked bookshelf on the other.

Taking the stairs up brings one to the Game Room. Two regulation-sized pool tables rest in the first half of the room, while an air hockey table sits just further on. Beyond that are several arcade tables. The current assortment boasts Silent Scope, Hydro Thunder, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Star Wars Trilogy Arcade and Shadow Over Mystara.

The tour completed, you head back down into the main room.
