Unwanted Friend

.....hello?.....

.......

Maybe this isn't working

...............what isn't working?

Oooooh! It DID work.....was getting bored with the silence

....silence?

How rude of me! What's your name?

.....I am called Petty.......why would I ask my own name!?

..hmm.....your hiding something..

....was born Jeggred Zaknafein

Oooh! Wish I had a nice name….

....nice name!?

......I am Rebekh

........I am confused, I'm dead!? This is what happens!?.....Pointless conversations!?

He he!..your not dead...you did have me worried a bit back then for a while, when I first found you

What!?.....What is this?

Oh.....I'm..sorry

....sorry!?

......

......

......

......

......wake up and see!

Slowly stirring from his slumber, a sense of nausea flowed around his badly bruised body and found a place in his head. Regaining some feeling, Petty half noted a few odd things about the feel of his surroundings. Firstly, apparently he was no longer on the floor where he lost consciousness but seems to be slightly elevated from the ground.

...my......bed?

Petty cringed slightly in anticipation of hearing the voice again, but that might been a dream, but was too wired, surreal to be a dream, Dream were not real no, but they didn't think like people, talk like people and know things which you don't know inside somewhere. The whole situation started to puzzle Petty, his head was not on a pillow as it should be if he was on his bed, but higher up than a pillow, whatever it was, it was chilled to the feel. Petty could have sworn it was organic and then the last puzzlement, His hair. Petty disliked his hair in anyway but a pony tail, since he could remember it was that way, but now, it felt unravelled, and most peculiar like something crawling, no more brushing, flowing through it. Petty hesitated, if he opened his eyes what would he see, if anything, but he wasn't dead, the voice said that much, Rebekh!? Who was that?

Slowly Petty's eye lids lifted, revealing his piecing blue eyes to the world but more startling to Petty, revealed a pair of dark green eyes staring back at him, from above.

In shock, and desperation, Petty attempted to shoot upright away from the thing that stared at him, but as his muscles contracted, pain wracked his body and with only a few centimetres moved, Petty found himself falling back to laying position with a grumble.

"And good morning to you too, Mr Zakfein" huffed the feminine voice

Petty let a long drawn out sigh leave his mouth, the slight discomfort of it didn't show on the face of a irritated Petty.

All I need, a vampire in my room......My head on it's lap...what could have happened? What did happen?

"Watch thinking? You got that thinking look on your face, but you look sooooo cute when you are sleeping" giggled Rebekh.

Petty just groaned as he slowly brought himself up to a sitting position and grumbled more as he pushed a mass of snow-white hair out of his face.

So, the voice was her, how did she find me? Why did she find me? Must people bother me, what does she want? Can she still read my thoughts?

Rebekh brought her legs up and sat crossed legged on the bed and leaned back on her hands to watch Petty before speaking
"You know, I can't read you thoughts no more...when you woke up the connection was severed…..took me a lot of effort to just connect when you was sleeping, tough nut to crack you is.."

"…….SHADOW!? What did you do to shadow?"

"Oh, that nice wolfy? It didn't like me too much so I…..tied him up!?" Rebekh squirmed under the stare, which was directed at her from Petty.

Off Petty shuffled, across his room and there as Rebekh had stated was Shadow Vein, mostly disgruntled at the sticky web which entangled him.

"What is this stuff?"

"Ooh! Just webbing from a spell I had to cast on him, didn't want to wake you up did I?"

"Better not have hurt him" growled Petty.

"Oh no no no! You love him a lot don't you?"

"….."

"Go on! You can admit it, I think it is cute!" teased Rebekh.

"…Shut up!"

Rebekh just giggled.

Looking down, Petty noticed a pool of blood, and a trail leading across the room to his bed, then more alarming was the fact that Petty was deprived of his boots and top, where his wound was situated was now a ragged piece of…Dress?

"….You removed some of my clothes?"

"Yup! And had to rip my dress to cover that nasty wound you had."

"…had?"

"Yup yup! I healed it a little I could, but was a lot more bad that I could heal, but I stopped the bleeding at least!" a sense of pride echoed in Rebekhs voice as she talked.

Petty wondered over to his grim covered window and wiped a little bit of it away, a fine jet of light shot through the newly cleaned area of window and across the room, sending Rebekh reeling away with a hiss.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?"

"….."

"You DO know what sunlight will do to me?"

"…yes"

"……"

Petty turned his way back toward Rebekh, whose face was plastered with fear.

With a slight shrug Petty made his way over to his book, sat down and started to jot down notes on his encounter with the Lich and his friends.

"That is a interesting book you have there" Rebekh commented, a slight tang of fear still shaking her voice.

"Would rather you not had read it"

"Nothing stopping me"

"…."

"But I know what could stop people reading it!"

"Yes?"

"Well, could put all runes on it" nodded Rebekh.

"Runes?"

"Yes! Runes to stop people opening it!
"You can do that? And still let me read it?"

"Yes yes! Simple really! Not too good ones though, I never got that far really…..anywho!! Would stop a lot of people getting in, unless they have a lot of will!"

"……Anyway of getting better wards?"

"Well, could try looking in books, a lot of magic books in libraries, I have a few too!"

"Could you put some runes on my book then?"

"Nope! Not right now, but I could maybe tomorrow night or something."

"…..you found me, how?"

"Well! You were bleeding pretty badly, and I just followed the smell of your blood, plus it was rather splogged here and there! You got very interesting blood, could follow you for ages and ages and not get bored, or lost."

Petty inwardly cringed at the thought of a deranged bloodhound following him wherever he bleeds, but she did seem to be earnest in her attempts to help, that bothered Petty a lot, he was never one to trust people, or care but this vampire hadn't bitten him, or hurt him….what did she want?

"Stop that!" Rebekh pouted "I can't read thoughts, if you have something to say, you hafta say it so I can hear!"

"..Nothing to say!"

Rebekh just pouted.

"Where are my boots?"

"Oh! Over here!" Rebekh fished out a pair of boots from behind the bed and swung them side to side a mischievous grin on her face before giggling. "But! You have to come get them."

"…." Petty just sat and refused to give ground.

"Oh phooey! Your no fun at all!" she giggled slightly before throwing the boots across to Petty who caught them with a little effort and strenuously started to put them on.

"When did you get that mark?" ask Rebekh

"Which mark?"

"The mark on the back of your left leg, I saw it when I removed your boots."

"..I don't know, and it is none of your business."

"It is pretty! But, looked like a branding mark."

"….."

"..Ok."

"I need my top."

"You only have one?

"Yes."

"Oh my! That will not do! I will have to go find some clothes for you."

"..Just give me my top"

"But it is torn and dirty and covered in blood!" Rebekh scowled and stuck out her tongue

"So? I need a top."

"I don't know, I kinda like you without a top" Giggled Rebekh "the make shift bandage is sooooo you!"

Petty looked down at the make shift bandage made from the arms of Rebekhs dress, he wasn't going to go out like this..

Developing vanity now?

Petty shrugged off his own inner critic and fixed as stern a look as he could muster in his weakened state on Rebekh.

"My Top, now!"

"Oh oh ok!, keep your hair on! Pretty hair, I wouldn't mind having it for myself" she teased.

Petty groaned, he would have to take sometime just sorting out his hair again, long flowing hair just wasn't that practical.

"And where are you going to be going, leaving me all here alone?" Rebekh tried to add a tone of desperation to her voice, which seemed to have no effect at all on Petty.

Petty sighed, he wasn't going to leave her here with Shadow.

And the hours pasted, Rebekh many a time tried small talk to Petty, who was contented on just writing in his book and as the sun started it's descent in the sky. Rebekh said her good byes, which dragged on longer than Petty had wished and even more to Pettys displeasure promised she would visit a lot.
