'Will you be there as I fall
Will you be there as I die
Will you be there watching me as my whole world shatters
And Will you never do a thing.' Raven smiled faintly. "No my best work but it'll do." She was sitting on her bed writing by candlelight. The shadows danced in the corner, playing tricks on her mind. This was how she always wrote poetry; In the dark.
"Danielle, turn on the light," Her mother commanded, an annoyed tone in her voice.
Raven winced at the name. "My name's Raven, mum, not Danielle. And the dark inspires me." She could imagine her mother groaning and rolling her eyes, thinking what did she do to deserve a daughter like this?
"But it's horrible for your eyesight," She pleaded.
"But mum, it's not like I'm going to go outside. Sunlight is for mortals." She could actually hear her mother groan this time. Raven smiled. She enjoyed tormenting her mother. Suddenly, the window was flung open. A gust of wind put out the candle and Raven stifled a scream. "Hope I'm not interrupting anything." She turned to see a panther leap gracefully into her room. She dropped a black watch at Raven's feet. "What's this?"
"Just take it," the panther replied, annoyed. Raven did as she was told and they were both drawn into the small screen. Everything faded to black....
"Wake up." Raven opened her eyes and winced at her splitting headache. "One minute, mum. Let me wait until the world stops spinning..."
"I'm not your mum. I am your companion, Nekura." This woke Raven up. "I think I've gone insane," she muttered, lowering her black hood to reveal a dark ponytail with two purple streaks framing her face. "I'm talking to a panther and I'm in a forest," she added, glancing around.
"You are in Savoya. I will explain your mission when we find the others."
"Mission? I won't be much help unless it's a dark poetry contest. THAT I can do."
Nekura rolled her eyes. "Forget your poetry. There ARE more important things in this world."
"Like what? My eyeliner maybe... Or my guitar..... Nope. Nothing's more important."
"Charlisse?"
"What do you possibly want now?"
"We're kinda...lost, aren't we?"
"NO!! We are SO not lost. I know exactly where we are!!! Now shut up for
one
minute!!"
"You have no IDEA where we are, smart one."
"SO not true! We're in the middle of the Sahara Desert on one of our
parent's brilliant ideas for a vacation...HAH!"
"Yeah, but we're miles away from all the food and water..."
"SHUT UP."
"I'm only telling the truth!"
"No, actually, you're not. We're about five SECONDS away from the
nearest
campsite, buttface. Now help me look for it before I..."
"HA! You ADMIT that you're lost!!"
"I AM SOOO NOT LOST, LOSER!!!!!! I just need a little HELP..."
"That's the same thing as being lost."
"What-EVER! My stilettos are really starting to look ugly...can you
carry
me?"
"Ew, no."
"Well you're gonna have to, otherwise, I'll just sit down here and die
of
thirst and starvation."
"Sounds good to me. Bye, sis."
"HEY!!!!!!!!! Do you not CARE about your beautifullest, sexiest, most
popular sister ever?? Or do you somehow want to face a trillioin
lawsuits
blaming you for my death??"
"FINE, I'll CARRY you."
The 12-year-old boy somehow managed to back up Charlisse, who was not
heavy,
and carried her some ways before he found something that caught his eye.
"Heeey, look Charlie! A cave!"
"Don't call me Charlie, brat!" she hit him sharply. "It's CHARLISEE."
The boy ignored her.
"Go in, what are you waiting for?" she said, dropping her promptly to
the
ground. "I want to see if there's any treasure and stuff."
"Okay, NO. That is like...that is a big NO. YOU'RE going in there,
because
if there's like a mountain liion or something there, we'll loose you
instead
of me."
Charlie smirked. "Exactly why you're going in first."
"Excuse me, I was not the LOSER who wanted to explore that cave in the
first
place, okay? Why should I have to be killed? All I did was be pretty and
get
the TINIEST bit lost in the middle of the Sahara desert, which is about
the
easiest place to get lost in in the whole wide world. Now GET in there
before I have to MAKE you!!" she pushed his back with her stiletto heel
and
he went stumbling forward.
"Hahaha, you admit you're lo-ost," her brother sang, poitning.
"NO I DON'T" Charlisse snapped. "I said a LITTLE lost. There is a HUGE
difference between that and actually BEING lost, genius. Now, you are
either
going into that cave or carrying me back to the nearest station with
fresh
water and an emergency supply of strawberry lip gloss."
"I'm not going in...but you are," he said, almost giggling as he pushed
her
head-on into the depths of the cave. Since it was rather difficult to
balance on those white stiletto heels, Charlisse screamed like she was
being
murdered and toppled over, barely missing a long, mysterious cliffdrop.
The words, "I hate you" were on her lips, yet they never emerged because
she
barely noticed something flashing, silvery, in the darkness. She picked
it
up and noticed that it was a watch-like thing with a big black screen in
the
center. "Whatever," she said, but was immediately sucked into the world
of
darkness...
Raven turned as she heard a thump. It was another girl. She glanced at her, not pleased with the look of her. She sighed and went over to her. "Are you alright?"
Charlisse glanced up at the Gothic-looking girl and made a face. "You
are in
serious need of an Abercrombie makeover," was all she said.
"Excuse me?" Raven replied, glaring at the girl. "Why would I want to wear that trash?" She asked, disgusted. Nekura sighed.
"You're going to have to put aside your differences. We are a team."
Raven gave the girl one final glare before adding "How did you get here?"
"ABERCROMBIE IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOT TRASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ITS ONLY ONE OF
THE
BEST CLOTHING LINES EVER, UNLIKE THE STUFF THAT YOU'RE WEARING!!!!!!!!!
ICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I'm not telling ANYONE who is so STUPID as to call
abercrombie TRASH how I got here...where AM I, anyway? Hopefully the
OTHER
people here at least know how to dress," Charlisse spat.
Raven glared at the girl. If looks could kill, this girl would have been dead by now. "I have better things to do than talk to preps like yourself. I actually have a life that does not involve shopping and cheerleading. Later." She turned to walk off when Nekura stopped her.
"Danielle, you have to stay here."
Raven winced at the name. "Raven. God. You sound like my mum. And why do I have to stay?"
"It is your destiny. Both of yours. You have to save Savoya."
"Shopping and cheerleading is like WAY better than YOUR life, which
probably
involves looking through your closet to find the ugliest clothes EVER,"
Charlisse snapped at Raven. "So, DANIELLE, what is it that animal said
about
saving Savoya?
Raven smiled sweetly. "If you call me Danielle one more time, I will seriously hurt you. And writing, singing, and playing the guitar is so much better than you pathetic life."
"Prove it to me, Danielle," said Charlisse snottily. "Give me five
reasons
why shopping at ugly goth stores to make yourself even more unattractive
that you already are, writing sad songs about how much you hate your
pathetic
life, and being a general reclusive loser is better than being, yes, hot
and
popular. Go on, I bet Little Miss Danielle can't do it."
"Don't flatter yourself my saying you're so hot when you're not. That is one reason why I'm better than you. I don't have a big head from constantly shopping and cheerleading. My vocabulary does not revolve around words like 'OMG', 'cute' and 'pink'. Furthermore, I do not wear pink, a major plus. I'm not vain and selfish like you obviously are and I'm not a-"
"Raven, that's enough," Nekura interrupted. "We are a team. We need to start acting like one."
Red stared around her. She was in the middle of nowhere. To be exact,
she was in the middle of the desert. Why? She had no clue. The last
thing she remembered was being knocked out as the plane dove silently
towards the golden ridges of the dry desert. Her throat was parched and
she stumbled around blindly. Behind her, the tiny plane was in flames.
Choughing loudly, she fell to her knees. Her pale eyes clouded over and
her cheek touched the hot sand. Her hands touched something cool and her
eyes shot open. Her hand was touching a red watch-looking thing.
Bringing it closer, she placed it against her cheek. It was cool
compared to her sweaty self. Suddenly, she felt herself jolt. The small
screen on the watch opened up and she fell in, to still remember nothing
behind her.

She woke up to find herself in a wide field. Scattered around her were
bodies. She gagged and turned away...
