To ensure to ensure the quality of the roleplay among the DeSades we operate under certain rules, read these BEFORE you join. You also MUSBT BE 18 or over OOC to be a member of the DeSade's. We understand you can easily lie about your age, but by joining the clan and taking the name DeSade among our RPG you are offically stating you are 18 or over and the DeSade Rulers (owners ) are not liable for your age or your RP activities as a DeSade.

1. The DeSade are loyal only to the DeSade Empire. We keep very few official alliances because of this for we answer to no one except the Empress and her Court, though we do at time have “Friends” of the DeSade Empire.

2. The DeSades are hedonistic aristocrats, and that is how our characters are played. We are cruel, we inflict pain, we revel in pleasure, some find pleasure in pain. The DeSade Family is NOT A CYBER WHORE CLAN AND IS NOT TO BE USED AS AN EXCUSE TO CYBER. If that is what you want to do, do it privately. However, we have no objection to BDSM scenes in public, for that is part of who we are. We are torturers, seducers, we embody the dark side of pleasure and pain. Deal with it or do not join.

3. There are many in the DeSade Empire that are involved in BDSM in real life. That is fine, it gives you the knowledge to RP a better character. HOWEVER, this is NOT real life so it will not be exactly like real life BDSM. It is a DARK FANTASY RPG. Things will happen that seem much more cruel and mean then what would occur in a RL BDSM setting. Real Life rules to do always apply in a fantasy RPG or BDSM setting. If you expect it to be just like real life, find another group.

4. You are expected to be respectful to the other Citizens of the Empire. However, we do understand that certain SL's dictate that members argue, fight,etc, that is fine as the Empress does not wish to restrict anyone's RP. We are also a family and families have been known to quarrel or fight upon occasion.` However, unless it it is SL related, any attempt to harm or kill another DeSade will be viewed as treason. Betrayal of the DeSade Empire results in immediate death by extreme torture.

5. As a DeSade we do not care what other people think. Words such as “whore” and “slut” are best left to repressed virgins and pious clergy. Those who call you such things are peasants and beggars and are beneath you. Laugh at them for they only show their poor breeding.

6. The DeSade Empire is not just about BDSM, so please do not center all of your RP around it. We encourage, and in fact expect each character to contribute to the RP of the clan and to create SL's for thier character. The more people it involves, the better.

7. The name DeSade is not one we just took. Your Empress is a DeSade by blood, descended from THE DeSade, the Marquis himself. When you wear the name you take on a nobility unlike any other possessed by anyone. Wear it proudly and never forget you are better then those who are not a DeSade or one we consider family or friend. You answer to nothing and no one except for your Empress and her Court.

8. All members of the DeSade Empire MUST read the page concerning the Dominants and Submissives. Wether or not you ever plan to be a Dominant/Submisisve, or keep a Submissive, you must know how to interact with the Submissives and the Laws pertaining to them and their treatment. No one touches the Submissive of another without permission. . The submissives of the DeSades are not slaves, they are submissives by choice.

9. If you have a problem with another DeSade, a quarrel, etc, while in a general RPG room (Not a DeSade Room)...TAKE IT TO ANOTHER ROOM. Take it to TheDeSadeEmpire or your personal room. DO NOT display such low breeding in front of commoners unless you are bodily attacked and are forced to defend yourself. If it is but a verbal quarrel, keep it private. We are a family like any other and are bound to have our disagreements and those we do not like, but there is no reason we need to lower ourselves and show such ill breeding in public.

10. When you become a DeSade your nic will be your first name with the DeSade name ending it, for example, DuvessaDeSade. We do request that you have no underscore between the names.

11. We RPG Mainly in #TheDeSadeEmpire, with Moderated members of the clan to keep the peace as we have frequent visitors and guests. If you are a vistor or guest and do not obey the laws you will be removed by our moderators. We would prefer to RP out of the conflict, after all that is what we are here to do. God Moders, however, are a reality. Should a visitor/guest cause trouble then seek to god mode out of it, remove them from the room on those OOC grounds. If they get around a room/isp ban, as some are able to do..then you shall put them in The Oubliette. (Please see page concerning the Concept of the Oubliette and Oubliation.) These same rules will also apply to any DeSade member behaving in such a way, though I can assure you your punishment will be much harsher for disgracing the Empire and the life of your character may be forfeit.

12.Participation. We expect you to participate. No we do not expect you to devote ALL your time, RP or otherwise to the clan. RL always takes precedence. However, we do expect you to participate in some way. Even if you can only RP in the chat rooms once or twice a week, there is still the mailing list and the posting boards in which to RP and make yourself known. If it comes to the attention of the Council that you have not been seen nor heard from in quite a while, your membership in the DeSade Empire will be reviewed and possibly revoked. Like I said, no one expects you to devote your life to the Empire, we simply ask that you wish to remain a DeSade, that you participate somewhat. If your participation, or lack thereof becomes an issue, you will be given a warning and if you hold a rank within a class, you will be removed from that Class and made an unranked citizen. If your participation does not improve afterwards, you run the risk of being removed from the Clan. However, as stated, the Empress realizes RL comes first and there are always exceptions.

13. Everyone enters the Empire as Unranked Free Citizens of the Empire, even submissives. On the application you will put what Class you wish to be, but you will not gain that rank until you meet the standards set forth by the Head of that Class.

14. By joining the DeSade Empire, you agree to accept and abide by the Laws of the Empire, and any punishment that your character may be sentenced to in the course of your time in the Empire. Meaning, if you break a law, you accept the punishment given you, even if it is Death. However, it is rare that death is the sentence, and if it is felt this sentence is unfair you may petition the Empress and the Imperial Court for a Ruling. We are not demanding Character rights, its still your character, if you decide to leave at some point you leave with your character in tact, we do not own it, we merely own the DeSade name. If you wish to not possibly lose the life of your character, do not break laws.

15. Only those chosen by the Empress to be room moderators may hold Operator Controls in the Chat Channel #TheDeSade Empire. We also expect standard chat channel courtesies to be adhered to. For a list of Approved Moderators and expected OOC chat room behavior click HERE. Other moderators may NOT give OPs to someone who is not approved by the Empress. It is frowned upon to enter with OPs under a nic that is not designated as a Room Moderator.

The Laws of the DeSade Empire can and will be changed as the needs of the Empire change.
