Who is this Family known as DeSade you might ask?

Our Empress is Duvessa DeSade, a werewolf djina and witch from the town New Orleans of the Earth Realm. Our Lord was Dirge DeSade, a light elf of the world of Shadow and Light . The Lord and Empress, after having been in clans in the Cove, felt as if their destiny was awaiting them elsewhere, so they left their clans and wandered as rogues.

After meeting one another they decided that they were both searching for the same thing, and that together they could build their destiny, The Two joined and Dirge took the name DeSade, as it was the family name of Duvessa. They were joined by Chantra, long time friend and covenmate of Duvessa's. She had traveled to this land with Duvessa and eagerly joined them to begin building the DeSade Empire. One by one other wanderers that were also seeking a place to truly call home found their way to the DeSade ranks. Dirge, being the brother of Thorne, the sR King, by the virtue of battle on their homeworld, sought out his brother's clan to make a bond with. It was granted.

Dirge and Duvessa moved their family to Dubhar Tiliath, the Shadow Realm, They were the lands first colony just before sR. sR came many months later, after foolishly trying to save a land called tyrans from it's own folly. Dirge, desiring a palace worthy of the DeSades, began construction of a replica of the Palace of his own homeworld. Building from Light proved difficult in the Shadow Realm, So Dirge drew down the sun, bending the light to hit the heart of the DeSade's Land. Sometime during colonization, Duvessa disappeared, Dirge searched for a while but eventually began to believe she was dead.

One day he met another Lady, Her name was Seductress, though at one time she was known as Morgance of sR. She came to him in search of Duvessa. She had lived in Tyrans at one time, though after sacrificing her magical self to save her sister she had gone wandering and had ended up in New Orleans as part of Duvessa's Coven. Duvessa had taught her all the magics she knew in an effort to restore her magical ability. When Duvessa traveled to Tyrans with two other women of her coven, Salacia and Chantra, Seductress stayed behind and later followed, but by the time she arrived Duvessa had gonemissing.

Dirge, alone for so long, took her in, gave her a place to call home, and eventually she became Lady deSade. TheDeSade Family thrived, and with it their City. Every day more and more people flocked to the DeSade City to beg for positions within the family. Only the best were chosen of course, and they went on to be trained as Dominas, Tortureres, Slaves..if they could survive the training process, of course. The rest were sent to work within the city with the rest of the peasants. Life was idylic...well...as idylic as it can be with a family such as theirs.

Then one day.....Duvessa, The True Empress of the DeSade Empire, returned and with her brought all the fury and pain of the DeSades. She had been imprisoned in a hell dimension and was now back to bring a whole lot of hell to the bitch who had sent her there, Seductress. Duvessa had been imprisoned by the magics she herself and taught Seductress, though Seductress did not anticipate the strength, resiliency, and power of her one time mentor and Priestess. Duvessa was eventually able to overcome the magic that imprisoned her there to return stronger, and meaner, then ever.

Once her betrayal was revealed, Seductress was tortured to death....excrutiatingly....and Duvessa returned to her rightful place in the DeSade Empire. She took her place on her throne easily enough, and the Empire thrived as never before under her returned rule...but she could not return to her life with Dirge so easily. She felt betrayed that he would put another in her place, and eventually, she had him removed as Emperor. Unable to accept a lower rank, he left to return to the Sun...a sort of death for his race.

Duvessa's sister, Andraste, had joined Duvessa and the Empire. Arriving from New Orleans, she too was a DeSade by blood, being the illigitimate daughter of Duvessa's father, and a human woman. The two women had been childhood friends, and now, free from the restraints of the pack, they could be sisters as well. Duvessa made Andraste her second in Command and Princess Regent of the Empire. Jauque remained the third in command and Grand Inquisitor, and enforced the DeSade laws with unmatched zeal.

The Empress tired of the uninhabited Shadow Realm and so moved her Empire to an alternate realm..thier own reamlm, one in which you could easily traverse to any other realm, such as Tyrants.

Duvessa also made many changes. While she was gone, it had been made far to easy to become a member, and many unsavory types found thier way into her Empire. She began to weed out those who were not fit to be a DeSade, and once again her people became the elite.

The Empire continues to grow...to gain power....and engender fear.....
