High Lakes Inventory Gallery

September 16th, 2002, we set out on a 4 day backpack/horsepack trip into the Pecos Wilderness to inventory as many of our high mountain lakes as possible.

Due to their remote location, these lakes haven't been inventoried in years, and we weren't sure what to expect in terms of water quality and fish data.

Our purpose was to check for fish species presence/absence, collect field water quality data (temperature, dissolved oxygen, etc.) and to obtain water samples for chemical analysis at a labratory.

It seemed like a simple, fun trip, but Mother Nature had something else in mind for us...
