Stepping outside Chakrin took in the site that would be his new home and the makings of many new stories. His very own, his first, his life savings sunk into this very moment of Konatsa’s fine craftsmanship.
“…It’s…a rust bucket. I don’t believe this…3300 zenni and I get a RUST BUCKET! THIS IS…ITS its…SHIT! What the hell is this?! Where is Tapion?” Walking out of the doorway and shoving his way through the crowd that had gathered, Chakrin finally got within arms reach of the ship.
Reaching out to touch it he was interrupted when a child ran between his legs and up the ramp of the ship leading to the hatch.
“HEY, hey hey hey hey hey!!!!! Just cause it’s a rust bucket doesn’t mean that its free game for your grimy paws!” Running after the kid ignoring the ‘caution’ signs as he took chase.
*DING*
The connection of Chakrin’s head and the adamantine armor of the ship came together with a very harmonious chime.
*THUD*
Landing hard on the ground Chakrin found himself looking straight up at the underbelly of the ship. Reaching up with his hands Chakrin shot out a weak ki blast at the ships hull in anger. Slowly rising to his feet rubbing his forehead gingerly he failed to notice the ki blast ricocheting around the legs of the ship like a pinball. Turning in time to see the iridescent blue glow of the ki blast nail him squarely in the face.
“OH! That was sweet! Can you do that again?!” The voice was all too familiar to Chakrin.
“No damn it. No I can’t.” Stumbling to his feet, Chakrin dusted himself off before turning to Tapion. “Its not ‘sweet’…not sweet at all.” Stomping off he left the ship alone for now. Letting Tapion fill him in on where this so called organization resided.
~~Hours later~~
The trip into town was short considering he was able to fly most of the way and ignore the legalities of driving and what light stood for “go” and which one was “stop”. Landing on one of the higher buildings in the area he watched over the bustling city like a superhero.
“This is so much fun…I can barely keep myself from wetting my pants.” Looking at his watch he took note of the time and sat down on the edge of the building.
“12:30…lunch time…” The gurgling of his stomach was almost scary as the thought of food crossed his mind.
Watching diligently over the city he noticed that a block at a time was being cleared for a few vehicles to drive through before the next city block was cleared. Allowing the trucks to continue on their way.
“You have got to be kidding me. No one stops these guys?” Making his way closer to the convoy he was able to see a car stuck in the way of the trucks. With the end of the street blocked off from oncoming traffic the car had no escape.
“Doesn’t look good for them. Well, Tapion I need this one favor to get me in and I’ll handle the rest, you know what to do just make it look good.” Talking aloud as he flew down and landed between the convoy and the car. Looking back over his shoulder he saw a few tanks aimed at the car waiting on an order to fire.
After landing between the parade of militia and the civilian car a series of clicks and chunks were heard from the convoy as the troops aimed all other firepower at Chakrin.
Raising his left hand in a sign for them to stand down he charged a ki blast in his right palm facing the car. Waiting for just the right moment he released the blast and watched it race towards the car. Thinking loudly, almost yelling in his head, Chakrin pleaded with Tapion to make this work.
Watching the ki blast hit the vehicle, he watched in horror as the blast merely dented the front of the car. For a split second his face changed from a mischievous grin to something more along the lines of “Ah shit I’m totally screwed.”
Suddenly a shock wave emanated from the car reaching out through the city. Decimating the nearby buildings the shockwave ripped through the downtown area shooting cars into the air as it spread across a few miles of Konatsa. Still the car sat, just barely moving as the shocks on the car brought it to a rest. Then as if it were delayed somehow, the car erupted in a fiery ball of metal. Showering the surrounding piles of rubble with flaming chunks of parts. Looking back at the convoy Chakrin watched as the few visible faces of the militia were in awe at the site of such chaos by one man.
“Over do it why don’t you! Damn, something a little showy was what I was going for there, not the destruction of one of your cities!” Thinking loudly as Tapion said his farewells to Chakrin reminding him that he was now officially on his own. “Yeah I know, alone got it. How could they say ‘no’ to this?” Dusting off his shoulder as he adjusted his clothes to make a better impression on the soldiers.
“YOU THERE!” Boomed a voice over the recently remodeled city block.
“What?” Regaining his cocky attitude as he took a step forward.
“HALT! WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE HERE?!” Though the voice was backed by a ton of firearms and a half dozen tanks it was still possible to catch a slight bit of tension in it.
“Dude look! I just want to make some extra cash and I heard this would be the place to get it.” Becoming angry at the voice.
“STAND WHERE YOU ARE! WE’LL SEND IN A FEW GUYS TO CHECK YOU OUT” Now the same voice was filled with a slight happiness to it as one soldier from about ten vehicles began walking toward Chakrin.
Though they were all apart of the same resistance group they all seemed to have something different going on with their uniforms. Some were green, some black and yet others were even orange. None of the soldiers had the same gear on either. It was not only odd, but also confusing to Chakrin who half expected the rebels to somewhat have a fashionable uniform. In fact when it came down to it the only thing that the 10 soldiers had in common was the shades that were securely strapped to their faces.
“Umm…really that’s not necessary.” Chuckling out-loud hoping it wouldn’t have come to this. “Come on now call em’ off! I’m gonna get pissed…” Stepping back he realized that he was going to have to pass this test to even get on board. Taking up his fighting stance Chakrin waited for the precise second to deliver his attack.
Closing his eyes he began to charge himself up. Holding in the power as long as possible. His insides seemed to be on fire as he waited for what seemed like an eternity for the soldiers to surround him. They all seemed to like their odds of 10 to 1, chuckling and snickering as they surrounded Chakrin. All of them within arms reach now. It was almost time for the magic show to begin.
Reaching out to Chakrin one brave soldier grabbed his shirt to begin the test. Opening his eyes and starring straight into the eyes of the soldier it was obvious that something horrific shown through to the soldier.
Screaming immediately the soldier tried to let go but couldn’t. He was literally scared to death. Chakrin’s eyes burned with intense blue. He had built up enough power that small bolts of electricity crossed between his eyes before he finally released his power in a massive explosion of deep blue electricity.
“AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!” Screaming in pain and frustration Chakrin leveled the competition.
The soldiers surrounding Chakrin, for an instant, found the meaning of inner peace before they were sent through the air in an amazing display of electricity. Landing on the ground almost instantaneously the soldiers jerked and sputtered as electric shock ran through their bodies.
Breathing heavily almost completely drained Chakrin stood there with both hands on his knees as he tried to catch his breath. Looking up at the convoy of vehicles he waited for the verdict.
Stepping out of the fifth truck a lone man made his way to Chakrin. Clapping slowly as he strutted up to Chakrin. The man was around the same height and weight of Chakrin. His red fiery hair flowed from his scalp past his shoulders. Chakrin could see it sway back and forth as the man walked. Tied in a braid his hair looked almost like a whip of fire. His fatigues were worn and faded, a sign of many months of use. Though his face was plain and even somewhat stern, it was obvious that his age was in the upper 50’s.
“If this is the leader.” Thought Chakrin, “Why don’t I just kill him now and end this?”
“Not bad. Tell me though. How exactly did you do that? None of my other men are even capable of flying let alone electric shock therapy.” His voice was gruff and slightly horse, a sign of many years of yelling and bad cigars.
“I’m not human for one.” Stating the obvious before catching his breath. He was able to stand slowly and come eye to eye with his questioner.
“Humph…so you need money huh?”
“Yeah, it may not be noble or anything like that, but from what I here...” Pausing for a moment to gather the right words. “…It does pay the bills.” Breathing in deeply as he finally caught up on air and started breathing normally. Smiling slightly as he waited for a reply.
“True true…it also pays for cars, women and beer!” Laughing loudly as he smacked Chakrin on the back nearly knocking him over, before walking back to the convoy. As if in unison the cars started and slowly began rolling down the street.
“CLIMB ABOARD” boomed the voice from the loudspeaker.
“I’m gonna fuckin’ rip that damned mic out of your hand before this is over with!” Thought Chakrin as he smiled and hopped onto one of the passing trucks.
~~Are we there yet~~
Staying silent for most of the trip Chakrin simple watched as the city faded off in the distance and small towns and villages seemed to follow in suit. The sun had begun to set on Konatsa and that meant that the nightlife of predators would soon ensue.
Watching as the soldiers armed themselves behind guns and rocket launchers. He smiled as they barricaded themselves into the cars.
“Damn! What the hell are you guys so worried about? Haven’t you ever taken a hike through the woods at night before?” Laughing loudly as he spoke up for the first time since he was accepted.
“Have you?” Was a lone reply from a kid. He couldn’t have been more than 12 from the look of him not to mention his voice was oddly high pitched.
“Yeah, I’ve had my share of forest fun.” Thinking back to the time he was sent to save one of Tapion’s endangered friends. “Ever heard of Wrawrck?” Looking down at the kid.
“Only stories. My mom used to tell me that a man once faced him only to return home nearly dead.” Looking up at Chakrin as if he might know something else but unwilling to share it.
“Yeah, stories huh? Anyways, I used to live out here why is everyone all hunkered down and assuming the ‘bank heist’ position?” Asked Chakrin as he took notice of how well they all seemed to be barricading themselves in.
As if in reply a shot rang out through the night.
*TWANG!!! *
“HOLY SHIT! Where the hell did that come from?!” Yelled Chakrin as he dove for cover between two soldiers.
“Snipers!” The kid had taken up a defensive posture with his rifle and began firing pop-shots into the forest. “DIE YUPPIE SCUM!” His yelling not only seemed to have no effect on the snipers but it simply wasn’t threatening enough to stop them either.
“How long does this last?!” Asked Chakrin as he slid between two steel beams on the truck.
“That depends on how fast you scare them.” Answered an older voice. “Roughly around 10 minutes though.”
Working his way into a much more secured location Chakrin listened as what seemed like hundreds of bullets nailing the truck.
“Hey! I’m Chakrin how are you?” Reaching out a hand toward the older voice.
Waiting a while with no response Chakrin looked up to see half of the soldiers face ripped off from the bullets as well as a dozen other holes oozing blood.
“Ok then! Well it was nice knowing you.” Moving quickly next to the soldier Chakrin began to remove all his valuables and weapons. Looking up he noticed a few other soldiers watching his every move. “What? Its not like he’s gonna be using this stuff anymore anyways.”
Nodding in agreement, they all turned back to the matter at hand and returned fire into the black of the forest.
For what seemed like hours the convoy moved through the forest under fire from the trees, until finally they had cleared the forest moving away into the plains of Konatsa for the remainder of the night.
~~Compound~~
Dawn broke early. Bringing in the slight frost and bitter chill with it as Chakrin awoke. He had dozed off in the night and was unaware of his current location. His only reference was the sun itself. Rising over the distant mountains the sun climbed higher into the sky finally breaking the high peaks. Rubbing the sleep out of his eyes Chakrin slowly began to wake up and take further notes of where he may be.
“Where the hell am I?” He thought as he gathered his new combat gear from last night’s battle and jumped off the truck. Landing softly on the ground he finished snapping on the fatigues and preceded to walk around the truck to see if anyone else was up yet.
Lifting his arm up in gut instinct Chakrin blocked a punch that would have connected squarely with his face. Looking down the arm of the attacker he could see that it was a lone soldier trying to get some free gear.
“Well good morning to you too bud!” Said Chakrin as he snapped the man’s arm and phoenix punched him into a nearby truck. “I really have to take a piss so could you point me in the direction of the nearest tree?” Walking away Chakrin left the man screaming in pain as he searched for the rest of the rebel group.
“Where the hell is everyone at?” Talking aloud he failed to take note of the ‘inconspicuous’ bush in the middle of the field. Though it looked as though it were apart of the wild life it was more than obvious to the untrained that it was fake. Lucky for Chakrin, he was trained.
Unzipping his pants and letting it all hang out Chakrin slowly rocked back and forth on his heels as he wrote his name in the dirt and across the plastic bush. Looking up into the sky taking in a deep breath of clean open air the bush opened from below it and a stunned guard got a face full of urine.
“WHAT THE FUCK! WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU MAN!” covering his face with his hands as he yelled at Chakrin.
“OH SNAP!” Turning quickly to finish Chakrin did the shake and zipped his pants back before turning back to the guard who was now wiping his face.
“Dude! I am totally sorry! I had no idea where I was and so I was gonna take a piss before I started looking for you guys…” Letting his voice trail off as the other guard spoke up.
“Listen numb nuts! The base is down here. We got a couple rules though that we all abide by.” Clearing his throat he continued with the small list of rules for Chakrin to adhere to.
“1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB. 2nd RULE: You DO NOT talk about FIGHT CLUB. 3rd RULE: If someone says, "stop" or goes limp, taps out, the fight is over. 4th RULE: Only two guys to a fight. 5th RULE: One fight at a time. 6th RULE: No shirts, no shoes. 7th RULE: Fights will go on as long as they have to. 8th RULE: If this is your first night at FIGHT CLUB, you HAVE to fight.” Looking rather confused, Chakrin pondered on what to say before continuing. “So umm…this is Fight Club now? I thought I was in some sort of smuggling operation.” Scratching his head again trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
Smiling slowly the guard soon burst out into a full-blown laugh. “You stupid fuck! Get your ass down here and have some fun will ya?!” Opening the secret hatch completely to allow Chakrin to come down.
~~Welcome Home~~
Adjusting his eyes to the new light of the underground layer, he found himself in a new world all together. From his first glance at the apparent “bum” next to the steps to the small group of boys kicking and punching a poor soul into submission, Chakrin could only imagine what it was like for those living the life of luxury.
“Hey, you comin’ or what?” Asked the soldier as he stepped in front of Chakrin to lead the way.
“…Hmmm…” Looking quickly at the soldier as if he had gotten caught doing something wrong.
“Come on already! We’re runnin’ late as it is.” Letting his voice trail off as he walked out ahead of Chakrin towards the malicious group of boys.
Following in step behind him, Chakrin left enough room between the two of them to maneuver if he needed to. As they neared the group of boys the tour guide for Chakrin pulled out his nightstick and raised it high in the air. For the few that noticed this new menace they were spared. For the rest of the boys it was a completely different story. Bringing his stick down hard across the back of the first boy he let his presence be known. Grabbing the nearest boy to him he punched him hard across the face still holding his nightstick tightly as it gave more “Ummph” to his punch. Tossing the boy aside as if he were a rag doll the soldier continued to show them their “place” in this society.
As one boy continued to kick the helpless runt in the gut the soldier watched for a brief second as he landed a hard kick to the chest to see the boy nearly come off the ground as his ribs could be heard snapping like twigs. Letting out a howl of pain the runt landed roughly on the ground huffing as his broken and bruised ribs met firmly with the ground. Smiling contently the attacker backed up to get a better stance and a running start. Grinning almost uncontrollably the guard waited for just the right second. Dropping his current “student of pain” he waited as the boy readied himself for another attack. Running up to the runt the attacking boy seemed intent on putting him through a field goal post as he ran up to make another blow to the chest. Just as he was planting his lead foot, with his trailing leg fully extended for optimal damage the guard made his move.
Sidestepping quickly the guard launched his leg into the air connecting squarely across the face of the field goal kicking boy. With only his lead foot holding him up the boy’s forward momentum pulled him off his feet and spun him head over heels. Flying over the runt, the boy continued to do a full back flip. Finishing is 1 ½ back flips the boy landed with the back of his head hitting first followed by his knees as his body crumpled up on impact leaving him in a ball of unconscious pain.
Looking down at the runt the soldier spook sternly and to the point, but Chakrin could hear a slight sound of worried ness in his voice.
“Can you walk?”
Looking up through his arms crossed over his face the boy slowly nodded as he tried to get up.
“Get yourself home boy. Tell your folks I said ‘hello’ for me ok? Oh, get yourself to the hospital before you go home. Tell them I said to use security code 5-6-8-7-4-3.”
“…O…k…” Breathing heavily, “thanks…bi…g br..o” hobbling away the boy returned into the crowd that had now formed.
“Ya’ll get back to your business! Nothin’ to see!” Yelling at the crowd as he waved his hand at them.
Chakrin watched patiently as the guard dusted himself off and cuffed the few boys that hadn’t yet made an escape. Watching as he pulled out a small flip open object and placed it on the neck of the boy that was now being stepped over by the disappearing crowd. Chakrin watched as the soldier typed a few buttons on his wrist and the boy was awakened, instantly crying in pain as the soldier cuffed him before pressing another button releasing the object so that he could return it to his wrist.
“He’s fine now.” Turning toward Chakrin the soldier looked back toward the group of boys then back to Chakrin. “Its somewhat of a tranquilizer, it heals them completely…the good part.”
“What’s the bad part?” Asked Chakrin, as he was very intrigued as to what was so bad about the tranquilizer.
“Well, to put it bluntly, he’s still feeling all the pain.”
“Wait…where is the tranquilizer part come in?” Scratching his head Chakrin was utterly confused.
“Ok, when it connected to the boy I let it run a body scan for all possible forms of pain. Then I healed the boy 100%, no pain, no bruising, no broken anything, not a scratch will be found on his body. Again, that is the good part. The bad part is that they were all committing a crime. I took the boys current pain and left it in his body. Though he is healed completely he will still feel all that pain he just endured until it goes away as if it were healed through normal time. Roughly a month or so with the broken nose, busted lip, cracked teeth, and severe scraps that all WERE once there.”
“…Uh huh…” Nodding slowly in reply Chakrin stood stunned by such technology of these rebels.
“This way” Again leading the way the soldier brought Chakrin to the leader of the rebels.
~~Before the Jury~~
Waiting outside the doors, Chakrin looked around and took in the sites of the apparent headquarters for the whole operation. As the soldier that had lead him through the labyrinth of tunnels was inside letting the leaders know of Chakrin’s presence.
The walls seemed to be dug straight out of the earth, seemingly with great care and devotion. Roughly about every 15 feet or so a horseshoe shaped I-beam added support as well as a hanging place for the very few lamps and torches that lit the area. Every exit or entrance to a tunnel was marked with an arrow to designate which direction the traffic flowed. It was a very well planned and thought out base.
Opening the doors the soldier stepped out and ushered Chakrin to step through the doorway. Nodding slowly Chakrin entered with ease as he took in the sites and possible weapons of this new battleground.
Along three of the walls armor and weapons from various battles and peoples were displayed as trophies for conquering them. A massive marble table was centered in the room. The deep ruby red streaks carved odd patterns throughout the marble as the black and gray swirls contrasted with it to form a perfect blend of priceless crimson and useless rock. Along the sides of the table were five chairs on each side of the center chair where the leader of the outfit sat and administered the deliberations. The table was a perfect circle with the exception of the flat edge closest to Chakrin. It seemed more like a judgment area than anything else.
The forth wall was the only wall that allowed escape to be an option. The only door in and out of the room was right behind Chakrin. He could end this now and be on his way if he so choose to do so.
“Well aside from hearing about you being very well endowed,” as the leader; Brock, turned toward Chakrin’s escort who began coughing before he excused himself from the room. “Can you tell me anything about yourself that makes you a useful soldier in my force?” He continued.
Standing at the edge of the table, Chakrin watched as the chairs all rotated to reveal an owner for each seat awaiting his reply.
Looking around the table trying to figure out each one of their power levels he spook, quietly at first.
“I can take anyone in this room and kill them within 1 minute.” Leaning back he waited for a reply.
Turning quickly from Chakrin towards each other to the leader and back to each other before the stunned silence broke out into a boisterous argument.
“Who is this stranger to make such an outrageous statement?!”
“Does he know where he is?!”
“How can he say such things in this company of warriors?!”
These few statements were the only audible ones Chakrin could decipher in the argument between the various leaders around the table.
Slamming an open hand against the table, Brock silenced all of them to make his voice heard.
“That’s a pretty arrogant statement considering the company your in.”
A simple nod in agreement was all that Chakrin signaled back to the leader.
“I like that kinda attitude.” Chuckling gingerly to himself as he leaned back in his chair. “If that’s how you feel about things then lets put it to the test.” Grinning mischievously Brock turned his chair away from Chakrin and the other leaders. Standing slowly he made his way to a wall lined with axes, swords, bows and various other weapons. “We have been holding onto a so called prophecy passed down from ‘Him’. We’ve all been waiting for a day to come when an outsider would make his way into our home,” Turning back toward Chakrin with five arrows notched in a bow, the string fully drawn he pointed it towards Chakrin. “To threaten the very foundation of our way of life.”
“Humph…” Was all the reply Chakrin gave as the string was released from the grip of Brock’s fingers.
Watching the arrows sear through the air making their way to his head, he waited patiently for them to come closer. As the arrows neared his head Chakrin simply tilted his head to the right and popped his neck in the process. Sliding through the air the arrows glazed past his left ear with the feathers brushing against him. Slamming into the wall behind Chakrin the arrows came to a rest vibrating slightly from the force of the impact.
“And you think I am that one?” Asked Chakrin as he half turned, never taking his eyes off Brock, he reached back to the wall and pulled the arrows out.
Watching as Brock pulled another 5 arrows from the wall and placed them into the bow and once again aimed it at Chakrin. Before giving him another line of questioning.
“How is it that you survived the night raid with no weapon or armor on…” Pulling back on the bow a little further. “How is it that you destroyed nearly half of the largest city on Konatsa in a single shot?” Pulling the bow back as far as the string would allow. “How is it that you defeated 10 men without using a single punch?” Holding the bow at its max draw Brock awaited for an answer.
“First off…the 10 guys were like 500 in power level not much competition if you ask me. Second, I was hiding between a dead man and a hole during the trip through the forest that night. And third my personal favorite…I didn’t do anything to the city. I merely dented the car and that was it.” Watching as the questions appeared on the faces of the 10 men still sitting down, Chakrin looked back to Brock to see if he had made the connection.
“HIM!!! SON OF A BITCH!!!” Yelling loudly he released the bowstring and set the arrows into flight.
Ducking and rolling to the left Chakrin dodged the arrows easily as they nailed themselves into the wall. Coming out of the roll Chakrin was in perfect position to kill a few of the leaders. Throwing the arrows at their throats in a single swing of his arm he watched as the unsuspecting onlookers caught sight of what had happened. Turning in stunned silence they looked at each other from across the table as their eye’s rolled back into their heads before they lurched forward crashing into the marble table causing the arrows to be pushed through their necks.
“I was sent by the “Elf.” Said Chakrin as he watched the remaining five leaders stand and take arms in front of Brock. “It could just be me, but umm…six to one seems a little unfair don’t you think?” Charging energy Chakrin moved it to his knee waiting for an attack. “I mean after all…those other five didn’t seem to mind dieing so much. They went without so much as word.” Grinning slightly Chakrin waited for the words to hit a nerve of one of the leaders.
Charging forward the attack was more predictable than it should have been. Waiting for the precise moment Chakrin ducked under the swiping ax blade and kneed his opponent in the chest. The attack though merely a gut check was increased to gut wrenching pain as the electricity emanated from Chakrin’s knee into his opponent’s chest. Screaming in agony he doubled over in pain only silenced by the paralysis that made its way to his vocal chords.
“Five to one is still a bit cheating don’t you think? I mean for you guys.” Standing a mere five feet from the only exit it seemed that he might make it out alive after all. “So, did you know about the mines set up in this place? I mean to me it just seems like there placed so strategically that only the makers of the tunnels would know where to go when it all starts falling in. You guys did help with the building of this place right?” Chakrin’s voice was more than sarcastic at this point as he let the leaders of the rebels in on the secret within the caves.
Looking back at Brock the other leaders begin to question what Chakrin had said.
“He’s lying! No one would sabotage our home! Where would they find refuge? Ignore him and take his final breaths from him!” Enraged Brock ordered the hit on Chakrin.
Two more of the leaders charged Chakrin. Swords held high in the air, they waited to be brought down on him. Running at full speed they came at Chakrin by attacking from an angle instead of head on. As they neared he saw another leader join in on the attack.
Jumping to the right of the first attack, Chakrin could see from the corner of his eye that the attack connected with the door instead of his body. Turning quickly he threw out a clothesline toward the second leader. Nailing him across the chest. Chakrin then grabbed his throat and brought him down to the ground. Rendering him unconscious for now. Without hesitation Chakrin quickly rolled to his left to avoid the downward slice of the third attacker. Though the sword missed Chakrin by little more than threads it did connect with the lower shoulder of the leader he had just brought down. Piercing into his body, the leader awoke from his coma state, screaming a high-pitched shrill that nearly broke the glass of the goblets on the table.
Grabbing the ax that had fallen to the floor earlier Chakrin blocked and parried the sword of the third leader. Still dripping blood from the other’s shoulder. Finally, ending the back and forth action with a death blow from the ax. He watched as the leader’s head rolled across the floor towards Brock and the other leader still waiting there turn in the battle.
Hearing the wood being pulled and scraped against by the exiting sword Chakrin knew that an attack would soon follow. Turning his whole body first to the door he continued to spin on his heels as he held the ax at arms length. Spinning faster a released the ax just as the sword was freed from the door. As the leader turned with the sword held in front of his body the ax connected. Splitting the sword in two the ax went straight through the leader cutting him in half as the broken end of the sword was flung up and threw his neck just under his chin. An instant death for a completely unprepared soul.
~~Outside The Doors~~
The few people that were passing by the doorway in search of food or odd jobs hardly noticed the low level thud that reverberated to the other side of the door. A few looked up from what they were doing to notice small clouds of dust fall off the door. And with that they went on about their business.
~~Back Inside~~
“Oh that’s gotta suck! It went right through his head! Look at it! It’s freakin’ awesome!” Chakrin moved closer to examine the wound.
*THUNK*
An arrow pierced the door next to Chakrin’s head bringing him back to the reality that he wasn’t completely finished with the job at hand. With only two remaining opponents left and two that would regain the ability to fight very soon, Chakrin knew he must get out if he was to survive.
Pressing his body against the door it slowly squeaked open as he leaned against it. With the doors in motion the poor dead leader was doomed to swing with the door his head pinned against it by a broken sword and an ax to hold his upper body up against the door. At the sight of blood the women on the outside screamed immediately as they grabbed their kids and ran for safety.
Laughing loudly the leaders followed Chakrin as he allowed the battle to spill out into the tunnels. Slightly kicking the unconscious man from his coma he got up rather unsteady as he opened his mouth to speak.
“I…” Whizzing could be heard from his mouth as he continued to try to speak “…h…ave…n” With an odd look on his face the reality soon kicked in that he had no voice.
Standing slowly he followed the other leaders out the door and stepped forward showing that he wanted to finish the battle. A blade in each hand he lurched forward as he started his dance with the blades.
Empty handed Chakrin looked on as the leader showed his true skill with the blade. His speed was unbelievable as the sword moved so quickly that it looked like a blender had surrounded the leader.
Swallowing hard Chakrin showed his enthusiasm by putting his hands in front of his body waiting for the attack.
“Don’t be stupid, huh? Just put down the sword and I won’t have to kill you.” Chakrin was stern in his demands, but they went unanswered as the leader took another step forward still moving the blades at insane speeds.
“Ok, but don’t say that I didn’t try and warn you…well actually you can’t really talk at all can you?” Laughing loudly as he grabbed a handful of dirt.
Throwing the dirt into the air Chakrin watched as the whirling blades moved the air around so quickly that a small barrier was made. Not a single grain of dirt made its way past the blender of blades.
“Now that is cool! Sucks for me, but that is so freakin' cool!” Chakrin stepping back knew he had to come up with something else to cause a greater diversion. Without thinking he swooped up a child that was trying to run away for safety to his mother’s arms. As if the child was some crate or even a weapon Chakrin lifted the child into the air and threw him at the whirling blades.
A horrible shriek was heard from the child’s mother as she helplessly watched her child sail toward certain doom. As if trying to safe her child she ran out to catch her young only to trip and become entangled in the swords. Her death could have been avoided if nothing else were to happen. Though the wounds were deep she could possibly have survived. The child finished its hang time by colliding with the mother’s chest finishing the impaling job that the swordsman had not. Watching almost in slow motion, the blades ripped through the mother’s body and into the child killing both instantly.
"Now is my chance!” Thought Chakrin. Doing his best to use a strong ki blast he shot the trio squarely letting the blast rip the dead mother and child to nothing as it sent the leader on a collision course with Brock whom had been standing at the entry way watching.
Using the bow and arrows, Brock quickly brought down the leader that was heading straight towards him. Riddling his back with arrows he finished off one of his own people.
Grabbing a nearby soldier, Chakrin quickly disarmed him and used the guns to begin his escape.
Shooting at Brock and the last two leaders alive he allowed himself a chance to make it to the surface.
~~Tunnel Of Love~~
Running wildly through the tunnels Chakrin searched for any sort of sign that would lead him to safety. Running as fast as he could he was unable to outrun the siren that warned everyone else of danger. Looking back over his shoulder Chakrin watched as the electricity was turned off behind him leaving only the torches to give off light.
“I’m ok.” Breathing deeply as he ran. “Stay ahead of the light and everything will be ok.” Swiftly moving between panicked onlookers and crates of supplies Chakrin made his way through the tunnels finally able to catch a past memory of having been down the tunnel earlier. He knew where he was and it would only be a matter of time before he would be out of the underground death trap.
Paying attention to his surroundings as he made his escape, he noticed the mines blinking red as he ran past them one at a time. Though he was close to getting to the exit he heard the first of a series of explosions rip through the underground lair. Bits of dust fell from the ceiling as a few lights flickered slightly before the wave of the power outage caught them, leaving only darkness.
Slowly the explosions began to follow Chakrin through the tunnels. Though they weren’t all that close to him he could tell that if was unable to get he would be killed in the cave in.
~~Back At The HQ~~
Laughing maniacally, Brock held a palm sized device and watched as a little timer in the top right corner counted down from 10 seconds to zero only to repeat the process each time. Looking at what was left of the leaders he walked back into the room shutting the doors behind him as he burst out laughing before he typed in a few new orders and waited as the timer counted down to zero.
Outside the door a deafeningly loud explosion ripped apart everything outside the door. Shooting in dust and the putrid smell of charred flesh under the door. Leaving the device on the table he sat down in his chair and opened up small control box on the arm of the chair. Allowing the bubble like concoction of energy and gel to surround him he was soon whisked away through the ceiling and to the safety of daylight.
~~Tunnel of Death~~
Achieving a small victory of making it to the exit in time Chakrin’s sigh of relief was soon ended as he looked back to see the whole ceiling of the foyer lined with blinking red lights.
“Oh sh-” Wide-eyed Chakrin watched as all the red lights ceased blinking.
~~Freedom?~~
Watching from about 100yards away, Brock could see the remainder of the mines finishing off what was left of the compound. Still grinning as if nothing wrong had even happened he watched as body parts and odds and ends of things were launched into the air. Unknowingly, he watched Chakrin become free from death trap and land behind the only vehicle that hadn’t become a victim of the cave-in.
Coughing the dust out of his lungs Chakrin slowly stood on his feet as he dusted off as best he could.
“That murdering son of a bitch! How could he do that to his own people!” Enraged at such tragedy Chakrin could feel his entire being loose all feeling as he himself suffered from a blackout.
~~The Final Battle~~
Waking slowly he groaned slightly as he reached for his head. Standing slowly with his eyes still tightly shut he let his mind swim through the blackness of his sub-conscience. Walking in darkness he could see faces of countless strangers flow past him as pain shot through his body first from his legs down to his feet and then from his shoulders to his fingers. Still moving through complete blackness he watched as innocent people fell to the ground in death. Continuing through the darkness a lone figure stood out among all the others. It was a woman of utmost beauty. She smiled at him as he moved forward, towards her. Slowly her face changed from a cheerful smile to hideously scared. Slowly she fell to her knees as he approached her. Gasping for breath she struggled to breath before she finally fell. Looking longingly up at him as if begging for life to once again live freely. These were his thoughts and those of his past that he had not lived. This wasn’t someone else’s mind it was his, it was the mind of a tortured soul.
Waking suddenly Chakrin burst into a full-blown aura of deep-blue ghost like flames before he was able to open his eyes and see his adversary, just past the vehicle by about 20 feet was Brock standing strong and ready. Holding his new weapon of choice to his side, the scythe.
Walking forward with his aura of deep blue surrounding his body Chakrin did not deviate from his path. Even with the truck in front of him he continued to walk forward. As he neared the truck his body rose above it following the contour of the truck as he past over it and onto the other side still moving steadily forward never slowing down and never speeding up.
“Its just you and me boy.” Brock readied himself for the fight waiting for an opening to attack. “Give up now and join me! I’ll show you things you’ve never seen before.” Grinning slightly as he spoke. He knew that having this warrior on his side would do more than wonders for him and his remaining troops.
Still moving forward Chakrin spoke softly almost silently, “You think you can show me things I’ve never seen before? Humph! You know nothing of what I have seen and you know even less of what I will see.”
Holding his arms outstretched Chakrin offered Brock a chance to reply. Brock however, saw it as an opening for an attack.
Charging with all his strength Brock raced towards Chakrin. As he came within feet of him he swung the scythe with full force. Yelling as loudly as he could to squeeze out that extra bit of power.
Moving slowly Chakrin turned to show his profile to Brock. This move was more unexpected to Brock as he watched Chakrin’s body move out of the way in order for the scythe to move straight down to the ground. Embedding the blade a foot deep into the earth. Looking down at the blade stuck in the earth, Brock looked up at Chakrin.
“You can show me nothing!” Releasing his power into his fist Chakrin connected with a right punch to the center of Brock’s chest.
His bare fist connected with Brock’s chest first. Mere milliseconds afterwards the aura caught up with Chakrin’s fist and released the rest of the power into a punch of pain. The force of the blow came at an even more of a surprise to Brock then the sheer speed of the retaliation. He pondered this conundrum as he flew backwards landing on his back before recovering with a back flip to land on his feet, before sliding to a stop.
With parts of the aura fading away and others shining even brighter it was indeed something that even Brock in all his years of fighting had not seen. Regaining his breathing he rubbed his chest where he had just been hit. Letting his body prepare for the impending battle.
Walking forward again with the same stride as before Chakrin once again neared his foe without hesitation.
“OK KID! Its on!” Sneering at Chakrin, Brock finally charged up. Releasing his power in a neon green aura that surrounded his body with 5 feet of space between him and the aura. “You want to see something new, well you got it!” Rushing in to attack Chakrin he made his moves swift and precise.
Snaking his way towards Chakrin he made a complete circle around him before he moved in for an attack. Moving at full speed in his attack, Brock more than overpowered Chakrin. Coming in from the left side he made his move. Just as Chakrin readied his fist for defense Brock quickly changed direction and made the connection of a series of punches to the lower back of Chakrin. Ending the sudden attack with a ki blast to the back of the head, Brock watched patiently as Chakrin sailed through the air landing on his chest as he slid to a stop.
“You see boy! I have a few tricks up my sleeve. Even you should know that an old man is still capable of kicking your ass!” Running up to Chakrin who had now made it to all fours. He Punted Chakrin into the air. Taking off after him he past Chakrin and awaited at the peak of his assent to administer a double ax handle to Chakrin’s back.
Realizing his danger Chakrin let the course of his flight go through to the last second. Just before he reached Brock who was waiting with arms raised, Chakrin turned and faced his opponent in time to spear him in the gut. Coughing up blood, Brock grabbed his chest as he tried to catch his breath.
“You should know that a mere child is capable of ending your life!” Chakrin spoke clearly through the pain he was suffering from with his back in agony. Moving away from Brock and back towards the ground, Chakrin waited for the pursuit. As if in reply to Chakrin’s actions Brock followed behind him only a mere 7 feet away he followed Chakrin.
With the auras so close to each other the wind gusts made from them was enough to knock someone over. With every touching of the auras to the other a small static charge of electricity was sparked. Stopping suddenly Chakrin moved into his fighting stance with a small blue orb in each hand. Questioning his motives Brock spoke up.
“You intend to sell me some cookies or something?” Laughing loudly at his poor shot of a joke, “I too, can make orbs in my hands.” As he spoke he held his hands out to show Chakrin that he now had two green orbs. “Shall I show you how they work?”
Moving back a little Brock stretched out his arms and increased his concentration to make the orbs increase in size. They were a little less than basketball sized when he noticed Chakrin had moved closer to keep the distance the same as before. He also noticed that the blue orbs in Chakrin’s hands had grown as well to the size beach balls.
“This bluff better work,” thought Chakrin, “I can’t afford to make a mistake now.”
Brock’s eyes widened a bit at the site of the massive orbs each giving off their own charge as they floated just above Chakrin’s hands. Connected by the small lightening bolts that shot up from his hands into the orbs.
“This is it then.” Brock suddenly shot into the sky allowing the two green orbs to follow him. After reaching his desired distance he turned back to Chakrin and announced his attack.
“Destructo BLAST!” Launching the two orbs toward Chakrin he followed it up with a weak Kamehameha blast to push the orbs along their path.
“Exactly what I was hoping for,” thought Chakrin as he moved toward the attack with his own orbs leading the way. “This better work!”
Meeting the attack head on it seemed like Chakrin was going to try to battle with Brock in a test of strength and ultimately victory.
“The boy is stupid!” Muffled by the energy leaving his body, the words never made it to audible frequencies. “…Think you can beat me! TRY THIS!” Pouring more energy into the attack he increased his power and even closed his eyes to try and release that little extra bit of power.
His second mistake.
Quickly moving in behind him Chakrin watched as his two orbs allowed the attack to spread out and look as though Chakrin was there trying to fight a battle. Revealing his charged energy in sudden spurts and jumps Chakrin watched as the blue light traveled trough his body towards his hands.
Suddenly his diversion gave out and exploded in a fiery blast of blues and greens. Filling the mid-day sky with an amazing light show.
“That’s how it should be.” Smirked Brock as he started to breath in a sigh of relief. Watching as the smoke cleared he was amazed to find that Chakrin’s body was nowhere to be seen, in fact it was clear to him what had happened. “Son of a bitch!” Turning quickly Brock’s eyes met Chakrin’s glazed over sedated look.
“COVER OF NIGHT!”
Moving his arms together Chakrin released his attack. Moving at such high speeds it was more of a blur than anything else. Had anyone been able to see it closely though, it would have looked like a cylinder of fire was reaching out to Brock. Surrounding his body one limb at a time, almost pulling him into the darkness.
Wasting no time Chakrin launched his attack. Inside he was faster than Brock. Moving in he released a massive series of punches and kicks that were so fast that small shock waves of white electricity emanated from each hit.
Now Chakrin moved back and charged up his energy once again feeding off of the surrounding barrier he took some of its energy to complete his charge. Facing each other it was obvious to see that Brock was more confused than worried about his well being.
Taking in a huge lungful of air Chakrin released his breath in a blaze of fire that engulfed Brock burning his gear and fatigues as well as causing 3rd degree burns over most of his exposed body. Ending his breath of fire, Chakrin attacked one last time with a massive set of punches to the chest of Brock before the Cover of Night faded away to nothing.
After the attack was finished Chakrin looked upon his foe and noticed only that he had been stopped just shy of death.
With his eyes rolling into the back of his head Chakrin passed out from exhaustion falling the rest of the way to the Konatsa ground. Brock too, was drained of power and in more pain than imaginable. Landing hard on the ground he let out one last cry of pain before he blacked out from shock.
Nightfall came to Konatsa as Chakrin awoke dazed and bruised from the battle.
“What…what happened…?” Staggering to his feet he looked around to try and find Brock in hopes that he hadn’t escaped. Looking around in circles he made himself dizzy, as his head was still swimming from the loss of so much energy. After letting his body catch up to his thoughts he slowly looked around in a circle once again. This time he found something. Watching closely he could see a set of eyes circling a lump on the ground. Soon a few more sets of eyes appeared and they too began to circle.
What happened next was hard for Chakrin to take in. The animals slowly closed in the circle before jumping back quickly. Slowly Brock stood to his feet screaming into the night sky. The pack of beasts that had surrounded him slowly began to close in the circle again. Knowing his end was nearly sealed, Brock made his final attempt to free himself. Gathering up what little strength he had left he shot one of the beasts with a ki blast, sending it flying out of the circle. After landing on its feet and roaring back at Brock the other animals backed away and waited for the apparent leader to lead the attack.
The ki blast had merely singed the fur on the wild cat only pissing it off. Brock watched as the cat began its charge slowly at first before exploding in speed to tackle its prey. Never stopping its pace the cat took to the air and latched on to Brock’s forearm. Dragging him down to the ground before it was removed from his body. Screaming in agony Brock could do nothing the cat had him pinned down as it proceeded to gnaw away at his arm.
Turning away Chakrin could here the other beasts roar with excitement as they joined in the feeding. Filling the night with horrific cries for help and agonizing screams of pain to fill the night. His job was finished. He could go home.
Moving to the truck that had managed to be the only thing untouched by the battle Chakrin hopped in.
“I hope the keys are in here.” Settling into the seat, Chakrin situated himself before looking at the ignition. “Fuckin’ awesome! I can get the hell out of here now!”
Turning the key he waited for an answer of a rumbling engine he was instead replied to with a simple whining of the engine and a sudden blast of smoke from under the hood.
“You have got to be kidding me!” Letting out a sigh of anger he let his head fall onto the steering wheel.
*POOF*
Slamming his head into the headrest Chakrin’s vision was interrupted by a white bag of air.
“PIECE OF SHIT!” Slamming his and into the airbag he popped it allowing his fist to nail the center of the steering wheel causing the horn to continually honk.
Closing his eyes he leaned back against the headrest shaking his head at the luck he was having.
