Nestled deep within the Forest’s heart, a small glade lay hidden among the thickets of trees and clinging vines. Beams of light cascade down from the canopy far above like golden arrows, casting mottled shadows upon the lush cover of the forest floor. It seems as though this glade has somehow captured the Spirit of Peace, and Harmony with Nature. With each day, as the Sun’s piercing arrows fade into shadowed dreams, the glade passes into Eternity, unseen. A quietly babbling brook beats cadence into a small pond nearby, delicately falling over a steppe in the forest ground. Swiftly angling right, the water undercuts a small bank nearby, creating a hollow Sanctuary, safe from the sharp eyes of the predators of the forest. Such sweet music and lilting lullabies the brook sings, and it seems that the very essence of Serenity flows through its waters, unheard. Until now.

As the morning light pierces through the canopy above, shafts of sunlight seem to bend about a corner of the glade, the light not quite touching the ground. A slight movement, and the light is as it always has been. A shadow flits across the glade, silent, not even rustling the fallen leaves underneath. Far off in the distance, a lute can be heard weaving its tunes with the beating of Nature’s heart, and it comes closer. And in yet another direction, there comes a muffled thunder of hooves pounding on the soft mulch of the forest valleys. As the weaving of the Lute’s melody and cadence of horse’s hooves meet at the edges of the glade, a silence permeates the air so thoroughly, it seems as if time stands still. A trill whistle of a forest lark finally breaks the silence, and an exhale of breath can be heard from four sides at once.

Rising from under the leaves of the forest floor come three Druids in soft, supple earthen leathers, blending perfectly with the mulch floor. In turn, each Druid bows in the direction of both Warriors and the Bard, who incidentally trails a small, but distinguished pair of Lurikeen in fine, intricately woven robes. Unlike the keenly dressed Druids, an Elven Nightshade seems to appear from thin air. Its face shrouded by the deep cowl of the hooded cloak wrapped about itself, it seems impossible to determine even if it is a man or woman. Flourishing a pair of daggers, it twirls them between its fingers in a dazzling display of whirling dexterity, and promptly buries them into the ground. Standing slowly, she waits patiently for a reaction. It was only graced by the rolling eyes of the tiny Lurikeen, now having stepped into the light of the glade. Having thrown back their hoods, their faces blank in concentration, a pure white light glows from their eyes, light as pure as the moon’s dance across their fingertips, and drips from their palms to fall in small pools of radiance upon the leaves below. With a chorus of grunts, the two giant, armored Firbolg dismount their mighty steeds and walk boldly into the center of the forest glade. Light gleams off their brightly polished armor and weapons, as the rest approach them forming a loose circle.

There needs no conversation, no debate, there is nothing to argue. The people, culture, the very land of the Hibernian People lay at stake. The crazed fanatics of Albion bearing poisonous steel, seek the bring extinction to all Hibernians. The countless forces of Midgard, with their dark and ugly gods seek to trample our lands and ruin our Mother. There is no aid, no savior but for those who would stand for their own lands, their own people, their own culture.

With hands raised to touch one another in the center of the circle, the Lurikeen begin to cast an array of brilliantly colorful spells and gold light suffuses the tiny glade. Spirit, Peace, Harmony, Nature, Eternity, Sanctuary, and Serenity gather from the forces of our Mother into the strands of golden lights spinning around the circle of Hibernians, and settle into an intricately woven blanket around the Bard. As the lights fade, and each drop their hands to their sides, there is a sense of bonding, a sense of singularity, as each of their souls were placed into the fabric of this Pact. With an air of unity and singlemindedness, the group set out to protect Hibernia, her lands, her culture, and her people. For the freedom of Hibernia, the Brotherhood of Light was born.
