"When Adam was born, a great sigh went up as the children of the sky melted away like froth on a wave. Adam sent Eve to see what she could find. In Gorias, Eve found a flame of fire. She hid it in her heart. In Finias, she found a spear of white light and hid it in her mind. In the gathering night of Fabias, she found a star. She hid the night, and the star within the night, in her womb. But at Murias, by the shore in the west, she lifted a wave of the ocean and hid it in her blood. When she came back, Eve gave Adam the flame from Gorias, and the spear of white light from Finias. She told him of the star from Fabias, and that she would share that star and that darkness with him. But when he asked what she had found at Murias, she said she'd found nothing, and Adam believed her. Thus to the end of time the salt sea moves secretly in the blood of the children of Eve, and the troubled surf agitates in their hearts, making them reckless as the wave and doomed to longing."
