began visiting Pines County during the days of Whispering Pines Ranch, a
working cattle/dude ranch. Eventually, the ranch proved to be no longer
profitable, and was sold off. However, a few old members of the staff
and some loyal tourists invested in land, and Pines County began. Now
some of the world's greatest Eventing, Dressage, and Western talents
base their horses here year round, and with a full show series, there is
always something going on. Pines County is also a great place for
non-horsy people to live, with plenty of stuff to do in Whispering
Pines, the main town.
