MAY
08, 2001 (Some
of the news may appear out of order this week due to RL circumstances..)
Hail TZ! Woo and myself have been rather busy this past weekend.
I was fortunate enough to see Dave Matthews at Jazz Fest in New
Orleans and Woo had fun moving. Nevertheless even though some
Chinese hackers decided to ruin half my morning by changing the
company I work for website into saying "Fuck USA Government".
I bring you the News......
Congratulations to Chosen Blood for
their victory over both Trakanon and Talendor. I admire CB for
the fact that they charged into Sebillis not only kicking the
darks ass but also killing their dragon in the process. I wasn't
able to speak with Rulan directly but his enthusiam can be seen
by this quote.
" I've been waiting for this moment for
a long time. The feeling when he dropped was incredible. We've
been working hard to get to the point of finally being able to
do these frickin dragons, and while we may not be on par with
blue server guilds, we're doing an amazing job with the resources
we have available to us, and I'm very proud."
-Rulan, Leader of Chosen Blood
No doubt this has been the greatest achievement thus far for Chosen
Blood and I would say the light team in general but most don't
want to get off their ass and do anything because they are scared
to die in PvP.
This has been the official CB Ass-Spankin week!
Congratulations to Chosen Blood and Ladasa for receiving her new
Rez Stick! Unfortunately I don't have any pics of her with her
epic but I can assure you that she is even more Lushish. I guess
Stature of the Zergs deserve some congrats as well do to the fact
that they were nice enough to kill Nagafen and set CB up to get
a cleric epic finally. I can just imagine that the OverDarkoan
was somewhat pissed about that..hahahaha.
Quote of the Day!
Today's quote is from a good friend who I have had the pleasure
to battle since the beginning of the server. Verion does show
great wisdom(most of the time) and in my book is a great guy all
around and I had just had to post this cause its just so damn
true!
"Well since no darks have commented on this I guess I'll be the
first. First of all, its a game and all so congrats on the victory.
As for 'where were the darks?'.. Couldn't tell ya.. Darks aren't
unified anymore. Flame me all you want but you all know it. If
darkguild01 cant stop you, they wont ask darkguild02 for help.
Deny it all you want, I've seen it time and time again. Shit the
other day CB was doing fungi king, it took damn near 2 hours to
muster up enough people to actually do anything about. And to
top it off, Cb gated out with a big 'You Wish' sticker left on
the wall for us all to see when we finally got there. Darks are
too ignorant to do anything multi-guild. They are all stumbling
over each other's guild's egos to ask for help. And they are too
'close' to actually dump their shitty players. It's one big happy
(unhappy) family. I'm sorry fellow darks.. It really saddens me
that Cb has been able to prance all over our dungeon and even
kill our dragon. I don't even consider sebilis to be our dungeon
anymore. Christ you cant defend it, why should it be ours? Lights
could move in any day now. It would take but only 2-3days of hard
pvpage to finally make the darks change their bindpoints in my
opinion. Why don't you get over your ego's, stop tryin to be the
"first dark guild to kill .. ubermob04312" and start lookin at
the big picture again? Have you forgotten what the big picture
is? Let me help you.. Darks vs. Lights. Not darkguild01 vs lights
while darkguild02 does something uber and is too good/busy to
come help. And to save you a line of flame, I was at work when
this went down. So don't try the "where were you" line ." -Verion

Tip of the Day!
A paladin who roots….is a paladin worth having in your group!
Many people may not know but if you have a paladin who can root
a mob in your group it really helps controlling aggro. First of
all when the mob is rooted it attacks the closest person to it.
So after the paladin roots the mob, he and others can step back
while the warrior steps up taking all the blows. This really helps
rogues and enchanters out cause it gives the warrior ample time
to taunt the mob.
Atomo's Words of Wisdom!
"A pimp wearing an iron glove would have to get about 200 yards
of a running start to administer a bitchslap as big as this to
the dark team." -Atomo

May
08, 2001 PATCH MESSAGE!
**
PvP changes **
We have made the first of our upcoming changes to the PvP aspects
of EverQuest:
- Consider: /Consider will only have
three results when used to consider a Player Character. The character
will show as 'green' if he is below the range that allows you to
attack him. The character will show as 'white/black' if he is within
your ability to attack. And the character will show as 'red' if
he is above your range. This will only take effect on PvP servers.
- Sanctuary Levels: Characters below level six will not be
able to engage in PvP combat, unless they take part in a Guild War,
duel or use the Arena. This will, obviously, only take place on
PvP servers.
- De-Leveling: Characters that lose levels will only retain
the combat skills of a character two levels higher. This means that
if a character of level 10 somehow loses 5 levels, that character
will only have skills that would be available to a 7th level character.
This change will apply to all servers (it has to, code-wise). So
the two level buffer is there to make certain that people that lose
levels during normal gameplay will be minimally affected (hopefully
not affected at all), while those that purposefully lose levels
with the intent of causing other players grief will find themselves
at no great advantage.
These are the first of the things that we plan to. We are taking
a careful, step-by-step approach to changes whenever we can, and
we have other changes planned for upcoming patches.
** Quest Changes **
- We've made a change to the Velious armor quests. The folks in
Kael and in Skyshrine that give out rewards for these quests are
now being stricter about who they will reward quest items to. You
will have to be considered an 'ally' (see Features section below)
by these NPCs in order to be able to complete these quests. If you
are doing quests for the Coldain, however, they are somewhat less
picky, and they only require that they consider you 'kindly' to
reward you for your labors. - The Black Silk Cape will now drop
more frequently.
** Bug Fixes **
- Attacking with a two-handed piercing weapon will now 'gray-out'
the attack button as it should.
- Text that once read: "You cannot remove this affect." now reads
"You cannot remove this effect." Changed by popular demand...
- Food Emotes: Forcing your character to eat by right clicking food
will now properly display the appropriate emote to those in the
area.
- Fixed a problem that often made it difficult to loot really large
NPCs.
** Item Changes **
- The Shield of Tsunami can now be equipped in the
secondary slot. - Quivers now reduce the delay time on bows, the
better the quiver the faster your bow. We will not be listing the
speed increase a quiver will give your bow, but you can tell the
good quivers by their ability to reduce the weight of your arrows
(better-made or magical quivers have this property).
- The Ivory Handled Falchion should now 'proc' without
telling you that it is out of charges. You may need to contact your
GM to replace the item with a new version if it is still acting
strangely.
- The Opal Bracelet is now a wrist item, not a finger
item. Be aware, once you remove it from your finger, it will not
go back onto that finger, it will only fit on your wrists, as it
should.
- The Large Dragonbone Shard will no longer appear
to be a Staff of the Gathering.
- The Ring of Levitation will now poof when all the
charges are used up, and should display the correct number of charges.
- The Priceless Velium Reinforced Bow now has a range
of 200 instead of a range of 0. - The Refined Mithril Blade should
now be equipable in both primary and secondary slots.
- The Unicorn Horn should now have a graphic.
- The Hammer of Flattening has been changed from tiny
to large. This might cause you a little reorganization in your inventory.
- Runebranded Stone Buckler is now labeled as a shield
and can be used to bash.
- The Ring of Pureblood is now a finger item, not
a waist item.
** Spell Changes and Additions **
- Translocation spells:
Five new Wizard 'push' spells have been added (Translocate: Fay,
Tox, North, Combine and Group). Translocate spells send the group
to the location, while the Wizard remains behind. Translocate Group
sends everyone in the group (except the Wizard) to their own bind
points. Translocate Group can be found on NPCs in Velious (and they
won't give them up easily). The others are available on an exclusive
vendor. All Translocate spells (even the original Translocate) have
confirmation boxes that must be accepted before the target will
be sent. And Wizards can no longer Translocate themselves.
- Some lower 39th and 44th level Velious spells have had their drop
rates increased.
- GM Resurrection has had it's name changed from ResurrectionGM
to Customer Service Resurrection so that players will be able to
better tell when they are getting a resurrection from the GM staff.
GM resurrection will no longer have Res effects, and will leave
the newly Ressed with full Hit Points and Mana.
- Divine Aura and spells of that type (Divine Aura - cleric, Divine
Barrier - cleric, Kazumi's Note of Preservation - bard, Harmshield
- necromancer, Quivering Veil of Xarn - necromancer) will now prevent
the caster from being stunned when hit for their duration.
- The Eye of Zomm series of spells will no longer work in Kedge
Keep. This change was made to prevent an exploit.
** Feature Additions and Changes **
- Looting text has been changed. You will now see a -- before and
after any loot messages. This has been changed primarily to help
prevent any fake looting messages from being thought of as real.
- When you loot an item, you will receive a text message telling
you what you have just looted.
- Expanded Friends List: The Friends
List will now hold 30 character names. And each character has its
own friends list. You can find and edit this list with a text editor,
if you need to, outside the game. You can locate the text files
in your EverQuest directory. The files will look like this: _<#>.ini.
The default Friends List for existing and new characters will be
your old Friends List.
- The destroy or drop item confirmation box will now close if you
accidentally pick up another item while they are open. This should
prevent accidentally deleting or dropping the wrong item.
- When selling to a merchant, you can no longer sell items that
are inside a container by having the container selected and clicking
the sell button. The merchant will tell you that you need to empty
the container before the merchant will buy it. This should prevent
folks from accidentally selling items that they did not know were
in those containers.
- You can now move items around inside containers that are in the
bank. - There is a new /consider message: "regards you as an ally".
This is the highest level of friendliness that an NPC will register
using the /consider command. The faction required to reach this
rating is significantly higher than 'warmly'.

MAY
07, 2001 - PVSP CHANGES COMING
Probably
old news to most. New to me due to a weekend of moving to a new
home. Also expect all players within PVSP range to be a WHITE/BLACK
Con in the next patch. Should have been this way from day 1 for
us at Tallon Zek. Should make the game more fun for even the super
twinks!
Taken from the offcial EQ Board (submitted by Zohr
the Mad):
First wave of PvP changes:
When we patch next, the following changes will be implemented on
the PvP servers: Consider: /Consider will only have three results
when used to consider a Player Character. The character will show
as 'green' if he is below the range that allows you to attack him.
The character will show as 'white/black' if he is within your ability
to attack. And the character will show as 'red' if he is above your
range. Sanctuary Levels: Characters below level six will not be
able to engage in PvP combat, unless they take part in a Guild War,
duel or use the Arena.
De-Leveling: Characters that
lose levels will only retain the skills of a character two levels
higher. This means that if a character of level 10 somehow loses
5 levels, that character will only have skills that would be available
to a 7th level character. This change will apply to all servers
(it has to, code-wise). So the two level buffer is there to make
certain that people that lose levels during normal gameplay will
be minimally affected (hopefully not affected at all), while those
that purposefully lose levels with the intent of causing other players
grief will find themselves at no great advantage.
There may very well be other changes in the patch, so read the patch
message carefully. And this is only the first of the things that
we plan to change, so don't worry that this is all that we plan
to do. We are taking a careful, step-by-step approach to changes
whenever we can.

04, 2001 - PICKA NEWS
Hail
TZ! I am Picka, level 53 Gnome Rogue and TZT's new reporter. I
would like to thank Woo and the rest of the staff here at TZT
for giving me the opportunity to deliver to you all the best news
possible. I am excited about my new position and promise to bring
to you all the most unbiased news as I can. I welcome any adventure
to send me a message in game if they have any news that they find
important and thus believe all of TZ should know. I will also
uphold anyones request to be anonymous if they so choose.
Now on to the News.......
Account Scams Alan released a report of a new Luclin Beta Test
scam. ---------
I'm sorry to report that there is yet another jerk out there trying
to steal your passwords. Someone has created a site claiming to
be taking applications to beta test Luclin. This is a fraud. Please,
under NO circumstances enter your login name or password into
any web site like this. We will NOT be doing any such thing, and
any announcements about entering any beta will come from our web
site, not some site hosted by another service provider. I'm obviously
not going to give out the URL for this site. But they've managed
to steal our art and layout, so you'll know it when you see it.
Avoid this site. I'm sorry that people are trying to ruin your
enjoyment of our product. And I urge you to be extra careful whenever
you put any personal information out on the web. - Alan
----------------------------------------------------------------------- Klandicar Down! Congratulations to Pandemonium for being the first
to defeat the dragon known as Klandicar, which has put them one
step closer to entering Sleeper's Tomb where they will all get
owned. On another note, ex-chosen blood members Thuel and Walluen
were seen pking alongside Pandemonium today at Karnor's Castle.
Walluen and Pandemonium... HAHAHA I just can't stop laughing.

General Viagra Down!
Congratulations to Garren Gale of Archaic Arbitrators and Jokr
of Wraithbringers along with the rest of thier guilds for defeating
the General Viagra and thus the almost completion of both of these
fine rogue's Ragebringers.
New Guilds
2 new guilds have formed in Norrath the first being 'Aeternum'
which was a merger between Tunare's Wardancer and Norrathian Protectors
and the later being 'Dark Gothic' which is a collection of high
level darks playing on European time.

Stature of the Zergs
I tried to speak with the OverDarkoan today and get his comments
on the recent comparison between his guild and the Zergs. The
OverDarkoan would not reply though. Reports are though that Centin
and Valorimm were extracted from the Hive because they refused
to kill the Protoss who were about to attack Venril. Stature of
the Zergs were originally an all shorty guild but for the OverDarkoan
to collect more phat lewt other light races were added to the
Hive. Personally im waiting till the day the Zergs start assimilating
darks and form 'Pandemonium of Zergs.'
Quote of the Day:
I leave all of you guys with this quote because its always fun
to quote Drixx. By the way if you have any screenshots of memorable
drixx quotes please send them to wuzit@hotmail.com.

MAY
02, 2001 - FIRST UPDATE
Found
a "reporter" for the all-new TZ Times.. all Hail PICKA.
I await his first story to post on the main page here. Thank you
all for the responses and input. For some reason it seems the entire
server is banner crazy so I'll be sure to start rotating new banners
to keep things fresh around here.
We could still use more "reporters" and we'd like to see
the Wazu stand up and volunteer a few stories.. perhaps start
his own column at this web site.
Yeah, I like it, I'll post any articles you'd like to write about
Tallon Zek, a Tallon Zek specific PvsP guide or whatever. Send them
in and we'll feature them here. Keep them server specific please.
Send your graphics to go along with the stories, or I'll make some
up for you. Whatever.
MAY
01, 2001 - WEBSITE IS UP!
Greetings
Tallonites, here is my attempt at a web site for our community..
something we can keep more current than the old
page which hasn't been updated since October of last year.
My help (so far) will be Pixessa
Glittermoon the Magician and will feature her own page with
answers to your online love relationship problems and the like.
Afraid that your wood elf druidess is actually a man?! Look left,
you'll find all the answers you're looking for on her page.
I am your host, Saltheart Foamefollower,
an Enchanter of a mere 29 seasons. I do not walk Norrath every
day, I will need *your* help to keep these pages updated with
stories, rants, raves, whatever. Without his objection, we're
also going to feature stories from our very own Kung Fu Master,
SoulSlam, which will come pasted from the Message
Boards.
This crap takes time so bear with me. Pixessa and I are excited
to do this. Got ideas? We'll give you your own "corner"
of the website. Hate this web page already? Don't update your
bookmark (Control - D for those who want to).
Check daily (ok, maybe weekly) for updates, changes, corrections!
Most of the links to the left don't work as I type this but they
will soon. Should this be a success with your involvement... Pixessa
and I will move this site to it's own dot-com.
Pixessa
is now accepting letters for personalized replies to appear on
the Ask Pixessa page (under construction). Heart broken by a man
dressed like a blue skinned bombshell? Wondering if you should
emote a move to first base with a new group partner? Get your
answers from Tallon Zek's love doctor. Doesn't have to be love
related.. any issue will do. Click HERE
to email.
For
now, please feel encouraged to bookmark this web site and use
it as a portal to the Tallon Zek Times Message Boards!
