Sailor Blodeuwedd

Location: Bath, England

Senshi: Blodeuwedd, Celtae/Welsh Senshi of Flowers;

Name: Lily Anne Pascall

Meaning: Lily is the name of…well, the flower. It’s associated with purity. Anne means grace. Pascall is an English surname that is often connected with Easter. If you strung it together you’d get…graceful Easter flower of purity. Or something like that ^^.

Age: 15

Birthdate: March 15. According to the Floral Naming website, this is the day associated with Primrose, one of the flowers from which Blodeuwedd was created.

Astrological Sign: Pisces with moon in Scorpio. This tends to make her protective and occasionally jealous of her friends.

Blood Type: B

Family:

Trevor Pascall

At the age of forty-five, Trevor is a success. He inherited the real estate company his father left him and turned it into the company of his dreams. Instead of boring old residential junk, Trevor deals in out of the way property. It might not rake in the money, but it keeps the family going and Trevor is happy to do it. A generally calm man, Trevor can be very enthusiastic when it comes to his hobby: model railroading. He has often made the family wait by the side of the road while he takes a photo of some landscape, which he will later incorporate into the model railroad in the basement. A great family man, he would be happy even if he was poor, as long as he had the support of his family. He has tried his best to remain an active figure in his daughters’ lives, and for the most part he has succeeded, at least as far as Lily is concerned.

Standing at only 5’8”, Trevor isn’t a very tall man, but he doesn’t need to be. He has a jolly face, with crinkles near his eyes and a perpetual smile on his face, and it makes most people turn on to him immediately. He has laughing blue eyes, but they can turn stern in an instant, as Lily and her sister can testify. Even though he is past forty, Trevor’s blonde hair has only a few streaks of gray near the temples. Lily's favorite thing about her father, though, is his lap; it was always ample enough to sit in as a child, and still is. She feels as though he would understand nearly any problem she brought him.

Sarah Lawrence Pascall Sarah is a very outspoken woman. Very. She has an opinion on everything, and is not afraid to share it. She is also extremely judgmental. She also, however, has an awesome sense of humor, and is capable of making nearly everyone laugh. When she was younger, she wanted to be and actress and she still does community theatre every so often. She and Alyssa spend a good amount of time together; Alyssa is also into theatre, and they have even been in the same production together. Sarah works at home, arranging flowers in the kitchen, which she then sells to a shop down the road. She is very dedicated to this work, and has her own flower garden in the back yard. In many ways she disapproves of her eldest daughter, in part based on Lily’s eating habits. Sarah wants to provide her children with the best possible lifestyle, and she doesn’t see where vegetarianism fits in. Sarah is much closer to Alyssa than to Lily, but Lily doesn’t really mind. After all, she has her daddy to take care of her ^^.

At 40, Sarah is starting to feel old. Her girth has widened quite a bit, and she was never very tall, standing at only 5’3”. Her forehead and cheeks are lined with wrinkles, and her once gold hair is now more silver than gold. Her purple eyes, however, are still youthful, and sparkle mischievously when she’s up to no good.

Alyssa Marie Pascall Lily’s junior by three years, Alyssa is the doll of the family. She is intelligent and a good violinist, and the star of her school’s drama club. Alyssa has an engaging personality and is very outgoing. When the girls were younger, Lily’s friends used to come over asking to play with Alyssa because she was “more fun”; she is able to keep almost anyone entertained, and even catches strangers’ eyes. She is extremely fashionable and popular at school, and anyone who hangs out with her immediately gains four “cool” levels. Everyone at school knows her, and she likes it that way. She is, however, extremely fond of her sister, and looks up to her as a quirky, eccentric, entertaining friend.

Alyssa looks as though she stepped from the pages of a magazine, even though she is only eleven. In Lily’s opinion, she looks just like a miniature Britney Spears. She has a slender figure with what Lily is sure will grow into an ample bust and “perfect” proportions. Her skin is flawless, a nice ivory color with no scars whatsoever. Her eyes are shockingly blue, and her auburn hair falls perfectly to her shoulders. She stands at 5’2”; it is already clear that she will be taller than her sister. As far as Lily is concerned, her sister is beautiful; who wouldn’t be a bit jealous of her?

Laurie Stevens Laurie is Lily’s best friend. A bright, cheerful girl, she is almost like Lily’s sister. Well, Lily’s ideal sister, anyway. They’ve been best friends since they were five, when Laurie accidentally dumped paste down Lily’s back instead of on Freddy Thompson’s head, like she meant to. Laurie is a loud girl, and has a great sense of humor. She’s popular in her own way in school; everybody knows who she is, at least. She always has the right joke for every occasion, and can quickly come up with one liners. On the other hand, Laurie is able to tone it down, and has always been understanding of Lily’s problems. Laurie knows pretty much all of Lily’s secrets, and vice versa. When Lily took up vegetarianism, Laurie also reluctantly joined, although she still sneaks hamburgers and such every now and then ^^.

Laurie is about the same height as Lily, but she is much more curvaceous. She has a round face and seems to always be smiling. Her hair is dark brown and flows to her waist.

School/Occupation: Lily is currently attending Culverhay Secondary School in Bath. Sometimes, on weekends, her daddy takes her to work with him, especially if he’s going on a sales trip. Trevor is trying his best to get her interested in real estate.

Skills: Lily is a master at persuasive speaking. She has a knack for convincing people to believe what she thinks and for changing peoples’ minds. It works especially well on boys ;). She also has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of herbal remedies, as far as “Chamomile is good for the stomach and St. John’s Wart’ll cheer you up”, that sort of thing. She might not know why it works, but she knows that it works.

Likes:

Mystery Novels: Lily loves plowing through a good mystery novel, although she doesn’t usually figure out whodunit. She really enjoys the suspense, though, and always has fun trying.
The Internet: What a wonderful resource! Lily can find almost anything if she looks hard enough. It never ceases to amaze her when she finds information on an esoteric subject. Plus, there’s lots of funny pages and just downright neat stuff.
Neopets: Lily’s addicted. There’s no other logical reason for the amount of time she spend on this site.
Mornings: Lily is a classic morning person. She’s up and ready to go as soon as the sun is up in the East. It drives her family nuts, but it’s just the way she is.
Easter: Lily’s favorite holiday. She loves Easter because it’s always so fresh outside, and she likes the idea of resurrection. Also, there’s tons of flowers at this time and she always gets new Sunday clothes ^^.
Also: Sunny days, hot showers, afternoon naps, sudden rainstorms, bees, scented soaps, bridal magazines.

Dislikes:

Owls: They’re noisy and keep her up at night. They don’t know to shut up when the sun’s down, and they always come back to roost in the trees around Lily’s window.
Winter: Not just the fact that it’s cold, but the fact that it makes her extremely lethargic. She feels almost as though she were a reptile in the winter—it’s very hard for her to get going, even in the morning.
Public Restrooms: Eww. Just…eww. Lily doesn’t like the idea of going where hundreds of other people have. She doesn’t even like the slang names, like “john” and so forth. A restroom is a restroom, and that’s that.
Dark colors: Could anything BE drearier than dark clothing in spring? This is one of Lily’s pet peeves, although she doesn’t like dark colors at any time. Ever. Period.
Secondhand Stores: Lily doesn’t even like setting foot in these establishments. She likes her clothes fresh, new, and only worn by her, thank you very much.
Digital Clocks/Watches: They’re ugly. That’s that.
Also: Fog, cold, nighttime, eggplants, foul language

Fav. Food: Fresh Fruit Salad, made with strawberries and kiwis and watermelon and whipped cream—it’s just so refreshing! Especially on a warm spring day when the fruit is fresh and juicy…mmm.

Hated Food: Oatmeal. Just…blecch. It has the consistency and taste of glue. No redeeming qualities there.

Fav. Subject: Public Speaking. In Lily’s opinion, the most underrated subject there is.

Hated Subject: Family and the Household. It’s just a fancy name for home economics and is incredibly boring.

Color: Light Pink FFB6C1 /Light Green 00FF7F

Hobbies: Lily can be caught reading her detective novels quite a lot. She also has about a dozen pages up on the internet, and is currently working on a webpage for her father’s business. Her infatuation with Neopets is probably unhealthy; she has several accounts and she can be found playing when she should be studying or doing other, more important work. She’s always on trying to get stuff for her pets…her dedication is certainly amazing.

Aspirations: Lily wants to be a detective! She wants to be able to look at a few bloodstains on a carpet or a few biscuit crumbs and be able to deduce the killer. She likes solving puzzles like that. The only thing is, she’s not quite sure how to go about becoming a detective. Besides, her dad is really gung ho about her becoming a real estate agent, and she doesn’t really want to hurt his feelings.

Gemstone: Alexandrite is the stone of regeneration and renewal.

History

Trevor met Sarah when he was fresh out of university, and she was acting in a community theatre. He was taken with the young woman from Bath, his native home, although he had been attending university in London. However, he was already engaged to a family friend. When that engagement was broken off two years later, he set his eye on Bath and the eighteen year old Sarah. Four years later they were happily married. They lived together seven years before the birth of their first child; Trevor was working to establish himself and Sarah had a job as a bank teller. It wasn’t until Trevor could own his own business that he began to think about children. After his father died and Trevor inherited the business, Sarah became pregnant with their first child.

Lily was born just as the sun was rising. Her parents were immediately taken by her, and named her after Sarah’s favorite flower. She grew up playing in a large meadow behind her family’s new two story house, making daisy chains under the watchful eyes of her mother. Lily has serene, idyllic memories of this time, when she had her parents all to herself with no interferences. When she was three her baby sister was born. Lily was a very proud sister; she loved to take Alyssa on walks to show her off.

Lily was also enraptured by school. She was quick to pick up on ideas and generally well behaved, if a little bit excitable. All through primary school she had generally good grades. They only faltered due to her own distractibility; she would much rather be playing with friends than doing her work. After the infamous glue incident with Laurie, they were generally unseparable. Despite a spat they had with one another when they were eight when they refused to speak to each other for two months, they have alsways had a pretty good relationship. Alyssa, on the other hand, always got better grades. As soon as Lily noticed she became jealous, although she didn’t start working harder. Instead, she endeavored to one up Lily by joining the drama club, hoping to be the great star and earn her family’s attention. She quit, however, as soon as Alyssa got the leading role (granted, it was only Red Riding Hood, but still, it’s the principle). In fact, Lily began to summarily quit everything that Alyssa joined, leaving her with few options in primary school.

Soon enough, however, Lily advanced to secondary school, earning a three year respite from Alyssa. She vowed to raise her grades and joined the public speaking club. When she was twelve, her class took a field trip to a dairy farm. Lily was captivated by the animals, and could hardly draw herself away. On the ride back to the school, she mulled over the fate of the cows on that far (although, being dairy cows, it was unlikely they would be slaughtered). Then and there Lily decided to be a vegetarian, and hasn’t looked back since. She joined a vegetarian eating club at school (membership: three), and started her own cookbook.

Just last year, when she was fourteen, all the schools in Bath got together to have a sort of Public Speaking/Drama competition. Both Lily and Alyssa participated. Lily placed first in both persuasive speaking and oratory, while Alyssa’s drama club placed second, much to Lily’s (unfortunate) delight. In her heart, Lily is still very proud of this victory and congratulates herself on it nearly every day (no, not resting on her laurels at all, is this one ^^).

Alyssa started at secondary school this year, but Lily is already looking forward to graduating. This is her last year, and she’s going to take advantage of it, come hell or high water. Sixth Form is an option, but Lily hasn’t made up her mind where to go yet. She figures she still has a couple of months…

Personality

When people first meet Lily, they peg her as open and approachable. She is a good conversationalist and quick with the turn of phrase, which makes her the type of person you would want to sit next to on a plane. She is full of interesting ideas, and her opinions on politics and the like are often very entertaining, if a bit misled. Lily is decidedly new age; she practices vegetarianism and herbal healing. However, she sometimes cannot let go of her Christian roots; it is difficult to do so when one’s family believes in them so dearly. Lily does not go to church often, but she finds it incredibly boring when she does so. In her opinion, it is useless to go to a church or believe in a god that one finds preposterous. However, she is sometimes persuaded to attend by her father, who would genuinely like her to believe in his religion. Although she hasn’t particularly explored any other religions, she is open to their teachings. Many might find this amusing, but Lily is completely earnest about her beliefs. She is also very in tune with emotions, her own and everybody else’s’. She is able to tell what someone is feeling and act accordingly. Likewise, everyone else is able to read exactly what she’s feeling in her face.

Lily is the quintessential optimist. It seems as though nothing can rain on her parade. Although she is often angered or annoyed by others, she generally doesn’t show it, and endeavors to start the next day as fresh as she started this one. She doesn’t really forget, however; she just puts any insulting or annoying comments in the back of her mind to simmer for a bit before they cool. Lily doesn’t like to approach anyone or any new challenge when she’s angry; she has enough sense to cool down before she tries. As far as angering Lily, it can be a challenge. Although she doesn’t like foul language or petty remarks or arguments, she is more likely to ignore the comment or simply walk away to cool down for a bit. She doesn’t really like confrontation, so even racist or sexist remarks generally only meet with a request to stop saying things like that. Lily is more willing to walk away from an argument than get engaged, at all.

In Lily’s world, there is a very fine division between “pretty” and “ugly”. It’s not at all uncommon that Lily’s first thought/comment on someone she meets is about their physical appearance. She doesn’t always intrinsically judge anything on its physical appearance, but she is very much more attracted to “pretty” things. Generally, she is much more willing to befriend/talk to someone who is attractive, usually without even realizing she’s doing it.

Lily is extremely innocent, or would like to believe she is, and she doesn’t mind at all that her clothes and attitude convey that. In fact, she encourages it. She wishes very much that she could have stayed young forever, making daisy chains in her back yard. That said, she doesn’t like talking or thinking about sex at all, and flushes immediately when it is mentioned. She often feigns ignorance about topics that she would rather not speak about, sometimes making it hard to have an adult conversation. She does, however, like to listen to what other people talk about. Lily has a great fascination for mysteries, and often curiosity gets the better of her and she eavesdrops. However, if she is ever caught, she completely denies it. After all, it's not cute to be caught eavesdropping. She also likes puzzles, and doesn't like to leave them unsolved. If there is a problem to be solved, you can bet Lily will try her best to figure it out.

Lily can be extremely possessive. What’s hers is hers, and that’s that. Pretty much the only thing she’ll fight over is some of her treasured possessions. She can even be this way about people, especially her father and Laurie. They’re *her* loved ones, and nobody else can have them. At all. This, however, can be self defeating; as many of her friends have been chased off by this attitude as she believes have been lost to her sister.

Despite the fact that she would like other to believe that she dodesn't care what they think about her there is one area that it matters. When it comes to her sister, Lily is immediately all ears, and it's apparent. She feels like her sister is prettier, smarter, and more talented than she is, and she resents it. Lily is insanely jealous of Alyssa, even though she is very passive about it. She has this idea that everyone likes Alyssa better than her, so she doesn’t often let friends meet her sister, in case they should end up liking her better. When people talk about Alyssa, Lily does her best to nonchalantly shrug off Alyssa’s achievements and remind them of her own. Lily has begun showing an interest in her father’s business so that she can lay “claim” to him. She has, in her own mind at least, claimed her daddy as her territory, and jealously guards it against Alyssa invasion.

Appearance

Lily is about medium height, measuring about 5’5”. She tips the scales at 120 pounds. Her figure is slim and not curvy. She only has a slight waist, and her main curves are in her thighs. Her chest is what she would call disappointing, but what others would call pleasantly perky. Her shoulders are wider than her waist, something that has always bothered her, but others find it to be interesting, as though she is very responsible. Lily has always been pleased by her hands, which have long, slender fingers and perfect oval nails. They are perfect for manicures, and indeed, Lily nearly always has her nails painted, usually a light pink. Much to her disappointment, however, her feet are longer than she would like, albeit slender. Interestingly enough, Lily *always* smells as though she just stepped out of a fabric softener commercial with vines growing up around her and birds singing in her ears. She would probably even smell that way if she hadn’t showered for a few days, which of course would never happen. This perfume is faint but noticeable, and pleasing to nearly everybody.

Lily’s heart shaped face is particularly charming, with its high cheekbones and tapering chin. It is framed by her butter colored wavy blonde hair, which flows to her mid back. Her small forehead is brushed by her bangs; Lily usually takes the time every morning to curl them. Her lavender eyes are set far apart and are rather wide, giving others a sense of innocence. They are framed by thick brown lashes and topped by slightly curved, thin eyebrows. Her round cheeks are flushed with an almost perpetual blush, which is a pleasing contrast to her otherwise pale skin. Her rose colored lips are set in a perpetual, prim smile, and her nose is what most would call perky, with a low bridge and thin nostrils. The one flaw that she can see, and which causes her no end of worries, is a scar she received in a struggle through a decorative rosebush when she was a kid (rosebush won). It runs vertically through the outer edge of her right eyebrow, leaving a visible, albeit small, white line.

Lily is especially drawn to pastel colors when she dresses, especially light pinks and purples. She almost always wears a skirt. Her favorite skirt is a light pink, slightly flowing knee length skirt with tiny yellow daisies printed on it. She generally wears these skirts with a white, button up blouse, sleeveless in the summer, and a pink newsboy cap. When it gets colder, Lily wears longer skirts and turtlenecks, but still, if she can manage, in springy colors. She tops this all off with a pale pink pea coat. Her favorite shoes are a pair of pink Mary Jane’s, which she wears with white fold over ankle socks. When she is with her daddy on business she wears a black, two piece dress suit with a white shirt and black heels; the outfit is completed with a pink tie.

Fuku

This explanation will be from the head down, so bear with me. As a senshi, Blodeuwedd is crowned with a wreath of flowers. If you look closely, the flowers include meadowsweet, primrose, oak, and many others. From the back of the wreath extend about a dozen ribbons in light green and light pink, which float about her head daintily. Her neck is enclosed by a high collar with a primrose right in the middle of it. This collar is attached to a sleeveless light green vest, which extends only to her upper thigh and flares at the waist. The vest is tied at the back by a light green bow, and decorated on the front by a corsage on the left breast containing all the flowers in her wreath. The front of the vest is adorned by a row of clear buttons that have a single flower encased in each; a total of nine buttons in all. Underneath the vest is a light pink bikini that covers all Blodeuwedd’s…well, vital parts ^^. Instead of a skirt, Blodeuwedd wears a pair of light pink stockings. Her shoes are made of a soft, light green cloth made to resemble leaves. They curl up at her toes and end in a bead of dew. Instead of gloves, Blodeuwedd has arm coverings that look essentially like sleeves. They are held on at her upper arm by bands of flowers, and they end at about the middle of her hand. These armbands are made out of a light pink, sheer, floaty cloth.

Transformation

Blodeuwedd’s transformation item is a small bouquet of fresh flowers, tied at the stems with a light pink ribbon. Oddly enough, those fresh flowers will not die…unless Blodeuwedd herself dies. They do, however, reflect the seasons. In the spring they are the brightest, and they wither when winter approaches.

"Blodeuwedd Celtae Power, Make Up!"
After calling this phrase, Lily throws her bouquet into the air, where it immediately becomes a shower pf petals and leaves. These leaves swirl around her in a loose cloud. As they gain momentum, they focus around her torso, arms, head, legs, and feet. Suddenly, they burst out, leaving Blodeuwedd in her vest, sleeves, wreath, stockings, and shoes. As the flowers fall, they gather to form her corsage and collar. As the last petals drift to the ground, Blodeuwedd strikes her pose, her legs shoulder width apart, right hand on her right cheek, and left arm crossed across her stomach.

Powers

Blodeuwedd has some caveats on her powers. Her powers are influenced by the seasons; they are the strongest in spring and summer, but they wane as winter approaches. So, an attack that does reasonable damage to the enemy in spring probably is only a minor annoyance in the winter.

Taking Seed
Blodeuwedd cups her hands in front of her chest, closes her eyes, and whispers “Taking Seed”. Her hands immediately start to glow, and she opens her eyes, extending her hands to arms length. She then proceeds to toss the glow, which turns into a cascade of seeds as it falls towards her enemy. Any enemy senshi touched by the seeds will immediately become rooted to the ground, unable to move their feet or legs. Although difficult, due to the number of seeds, it is possible to dodge this attack—a quick jump backwards would probably suffice. The duration of this attack can range from about 10 seconds in midwinter to 45 seconds to a minute in spring. This attack can affect as many as four senshi at any one time. Although the senshi cannot move their feet or legs, they can still do attacks requiring only hand movements, or they could throw, say, a spear or something. Thus, this attack is very good for a quick escape or to simply buy time. Afterwards, the affected senshi has no ill side effects besides possibly itchy feet. Blodeuwedd can use this attack about three times every eight or so hours in the spring, and only once in the same time period during the winter.

Blossom
To start this attack, Blodeuwedd clasps her hands together like she’s praying and concentrates for about three seconds. Then, she jumps at an enemy, hopefully with the element of surprise, and places one of her hands on said enemy. As soon as she touches the target they become immobile. The senshi’s body begins to sprout leaves and flowers all over his or her skin. The amount of sproutlings and duration of this attack is dependent on the season. During the spring Blodeuwedd could probably hold this attack for about a minute, producing hundreds of leaves and flowers. In wintertime, however, she can hold this attack for about fifteen seconds, producing only a few dozen sprouts. Blodeuwedd must retain skin contact with the enemy for this attack to work. As soon as she releases the enemy, the flowers on them start to wither. They won’t completely disappear, however, until the senshi detransforms again. Afterwards, the sprouts leave small red marks, akin to chicken pocks. The flowers themselves sting as they grow in, and afterwards the places they sprouted from itch to high heaven for a day or so. This attack is pretty easy to dodge, as it requires her to touch the target, and she won’t always have the element of surprise. She can only perform it once a day, as it is very draining on her.

Guardian

No guardian for Lily. She does, however, have a beagle named Sausage who fits his name. He just doesn’t, you know, talk or anything. But he’s good at fetching balls, and sleeping. Her sister has a terrier named Bacon, and at one time they had a canary named Toast.

Explanation

What is the myth behind your goddess?

Well, back in the day Llew Llaw Gyffes had a curse put on him by, of all people, his mother Arianrhod. This curse stipulated that he could never wed a human woman. So, the all powerful Gwydion created a woman out of flowers who he named Blodeuwedd, meaning flower face. Blodeuwedd soon developed the hots for Goronwy, a hunter. They decided to murder her husband, but it was difficult, because he couldn’t be killed in any normal way. Instead, Blodeuwedd tricked him into taking up his vulnerable position (how dumb was this guy?). He could be killed only if it were twilight, wrapped in a fish net, with one foot on a cauldron and the other on a goat, and if the weapon had been forged during sacred hours when such work was forbidden, so he struck this ludicrous pose for Blodeuwedd. Lo and behold, Gornowy jumped out and slew him. But he didn’t die! Gwydion turned him into an eagle, and turned Blodeuwedd into an owl. There she was doomed to haunt the skies as a lonely bird forever…or until now. Whichever is sooner. Blodeuwedd is traditionally said to have been made out of the flowers meadowsweet, broom, and oak. Another site also lists mountain primrose, cockle, bean, nettle, thorn and chestnut, bringing the total up to nine. This makes sense, as Blodeuwedd is often called the “nine fold goddess”. Bloduewedd's Dramatic, Angsty Story.

Now that you've made it this far, here is the link back to the madness that started it all. See how evil I am, mwaahahaha!
