Merchant

Merchant Merchants wander from city to city selling whatever goods they happen to be carrying. Merchants are always on their guard because they never know who might want to steal their merchandise. Merchants are often decent swordsman and have no alliances to anything except making money.

Abilities: Charisma is important for a Merchant because that is how they make their living, Dexterity helps their defense since few wear any armor, and Strength allows them to defend their merchandise.

Class Features

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Merchants are proficient with simple weapons and light armor. They are also proficient with the short sword, long sword, rapier, scimitar, short bow, and composite short bow.

Smooth Talker: At third level the Merchant gains a +2 bonus to all Diplomacy and Bluff checks.

Spells: At fourth level the Merchant gains the ability to cast a small number of spells. To cast these spells the Merchant needs a Charisma score of 10 + spell level. The save DC for Merchant spells is 10 + Cha Modifier + spell level. A Merchant casts spells as a cleric does.

Obtain Wares: At sixth level the Merchant may roll on the Mundane Item chart three times every time he gains a level. The Merchant must sell these items and cannot use them.

Bonus Feat: At tenth level and every other level after that the Merchant gains a bonus feat.
