Dragon Lancer

The Dragon Lancer is from one of the rare tribes that keeps Dragons under their spell. These tribes raise the Dragons from a young age and train them to be mounts for their warriors. These tribes generally come from isolated areas and they are not influenced by the fear that ‘civilized’ people have for Dragons. To them the Dragons serve the same purposes as horses although a lot bigger. The Dragon Lancer is a strong character who uses his physical prowess combined with the Dragon’s strength to the largest advantage.
Alignment: A Dragon Lancer may be of any alignment. The Dragon Lancer receives a Dragon with the same alignment as him.
Races: Dragon Lancers are generally humans but not always. Halflings can not become Dragon Lancers because they are too small to fight on the Dragon.

Quest: At sixth level the Dragon Lancer gets to prove that he is a formidable fighter and has the right to posses his own Dragon. The DM can choose an objective for the Dragon Lancer to accomplish. This should be treated as a short adventure but the Dragon Lancer can not gain any experience for this adventure and he must do it by himself. If he fails this quest he may try again every time he gains a level. Once the Dragon Lancer accomplishes his quest he gains access to his own Dragon mount. The Dragon Lancer may then choose any Dragon of the same alignment to be his mount. The Dragon is a young dragon and stays that way for as long as the character uses him for a mount. However once the Dragon Lancer earns the amount of levels that a Dragon can cast spells at the Dragon can now cast those spells. The Dragon receives only half its normal HP, because he didn‘t grow up in the wild and is not as strong as a wild Dragon, but he gains the same amount of HP that the Dragon Lancer does. If a Dragon Lancer’s Dragon dies he may attempt another quest to earn a new Dragon.
