The RPG of
a thousand hours (give or take a like 970 :D) begins with a single title screen
Fallacy 2
will have much better graphics than the original, I'll try to use NO RTP if
at all possible.
Nirik City
will keep it's redesign from Fallacy:SE, with some minor color and graphical
changes/
And THIS time
the insides get a redesign too. Check out the new, yet empty, Pub.
Though the
town itself DOES get a bit of remodeling from the last time.
Same for the
castle. Like I said, little or no RTP. Whether or not you actually LIKE the
new graphics is up to you.
Meeting in
the throne room. Again, there'll be no RTP characters, though I've designed
RS3 sprites for Fallacy to look like their RTP counterparts.
Some parts
of the castle are remodeled too, though it will still have the same basic layout,
mostly.
Like this
place! You just KNOW something big will be happening here eventually...
Salaam Cave
is still around, largely keeps the same design from Fallacy:SE, but you won't
be coming here till later in the demo...
THIS place
will be the first dungeon type area. Also, I should note the encounters aren't
random, all enemies are on the map itself.
Speaking of
encounters, I created a new battle start thingy, instead of relying on the default
ones. It'll make sense when you see it in action...
Enough talk,
battle system! I've taken up this particular layout, side-on enemy graphics
with battle animations designed to look sorta FF-style. A few other games have
used this too, though I decided to do this like last year. Just late actually
saying so.
Just so ya
know, he DID jump at the enemy, I just hit the Print Screen button a second
too late, oh well :)
Wrin actually
has some ninja-like abilities this time around, cool!
And though
she's a mage, Karan uses a bow. I always like to spice things up a bit.
Using a bow
doesn't make her any less magely though :D
Ah, like in
the original Fallacy, all bosses have their little intro screen, though in Fallacy
2, it's quite a bit different
The first
boss begins the battle by flying around the screen trying to intimidate you
But you can
kill it dead all the same though. Bosses will have an FF6-like death animation
too.
Well that's about it for screenshots and any other updates. I wish I didn't have to delay the release so late, but I've just had TOO much work to do this semester. I promise to make Fallacy 2 as enjoyable as possible though. So just sit tight and hold on, it'll be coming in due time.
---------------------------
Updates! Woohoo! But no screenshots this time. Maybe in the next update I'll have something to show. Anyway, what I've mainly been working on now is new character sets and poses. I WAS going to just use the RTP characters again, but I managed to get a better alternative. It'll take a bit longer, but the new characters will look cool. A lot of maps are done now too, of course, they're just bare maps with no events or NPCs or anything yet. I'm building Fallacy 2 bit by bit, instead of doing things as they chronologically happened in the game like I did with Fallacy 1. As of right now, I plan for a demo release date of around December 10th, because that is the date I released the last demo of the original Fallacy, and I thought it'd be a good date to shoot for. The demo should take about that long to complete anyway. Now then, for some more random tidbits about said demo (this is what the DEMO will cover, not the full game, so remember that :P) There'll only be 4 PCs for the demo, Guy, Snark, Wrin and Karan, not too hard to guess there. There should be 6 or 7 dungeon type areas in the demo. There'll be no random combat, all the monsters will be visible on-screen beforehand, and also, the overworld will have no encounters (at least for now :D) I will be using the default battle system, but I've already made some changers and stuff to make it more interesting. You'll see what I mean. Also, graphically, the game will be much better looking, as I stated before. I'll be using little or no RTP (indeed, the biggest source of RTP stuff will likely just be the sound effects) And finally, one last tidbit, I've created a sort of system, which for now I've dubbed the 'Shard System', I wont' say much more about it now, but at least there'll be a bit more to the game's system than just buying items and building levels. So that's it for now, stay tuned for some time in the future for some screenshots.

Yes it's true, Final Fallacy will have a sequel. Where can you download this sequel? Nowhere yet, unless you can link to my brain. Fallacy 2 is largely concept at the moment with only a small bit of actual substance to it. But don't fret, it'll get done. Because this time I'm planning it more carefully. You see, the big problem with Final Fallacy originally, was that I never INTENDED it to become a serious project. I was just fooling around with RM2k, and I actually created something. So I released it, and it became much more popular than I could have hoped. So I made a second demo, and it was by now that I was being plagued with statistical problems, and stuff, not to mention inspiration. So soon after the second demo was released, I stopped working on Fallacy.
But now, I've thought long and hard about it, so I've decided to start a new project, well, it's sorta new. I started Fallacy 2 blank, no character, enemy, item, skill or whatever stat defaults. All blank. That way I won't run into problems keeping things balanced. It would mean I'd have to work harder and longer at it making stats from scratch, but it'll be easier to make enemies how I want once I get going.
So what can I promise with Fallacy 2? Well first of all it'll be more appealing to look at, I'll be staying away from RTP chipsets as much as possible. I already got a lot of sets complied (many thanks to Hiei from RPGClassics for his help there, he donated a lot he is using for a game he's making, it was a big help) Before you ask, no it won't have a custom battle or menu system. I hear they've gotten pretty big and popular, and that's well and good. But I think they're only good when properly executed, and they're only properly executed when you're willing to put the time into them. And.. I'm not :P But I will be altering all the basic stuff, and making the same old basic menu and combat systems seem new and interesting. I hope. Well at the very least they'll be a step up from Fallacy. So I shall dub it... the KCBS and KCMS! The 'Kinda Custom Battle System' and 'Kinda Custom Menu System'! ...yeah, not exactly gripping, but it'll do.
Here's the biggest addition/change/thingy. The plot will be carried out differently than Fallacy was. In Fallacy, it was obvious that the characters knew they were in an RPG, and broke the fourth wall dozens of times. That was all well and good for quick humor, but Fallacy 2 will be different. The characters will be characters, faced with the same challenge before them, it will be perfectly real to them, so no fourth wall breaking. (this also means no blatent jokes about HP/MP, stats, what have you. And if there ARE, they'll be subtle) Will the story still be comedic? Yes. I could best relate it to the anime 'The Slayers'. The Slayers has a comedic story for the most part, but when the climax comes, it turns dead serious (for awhile). It will be most like that, shifting between funny, silly, and dire. How on earth will I manage to pull of anything even remotely serious with Guy's attitude or a character named 'Snark'? I'll manage. And the humor will rely more on actually being funny, instead of just blatently pointing out RPG cliches. You want blatent RPG cliches go read Adventurers! or RPGWorld. (Actually, do so if you haven't, trust the Bard here)
I could go on and on about what I plan, but that's enough for now until I actually have something to show. Which won't be for awhile. In all honesty, it'll probably be quite awhile before anything is ready to show off, I'm doing this right. Because Final Fallacy 2 will likely be my last Hurrah for RPGMaking. It will likely be my last game, so it's gonna be a good one. So while support is appreciated, please don't send me emails along the lines of 'I TINK FLALCY IS TEH ROXORSZ! CAN U SNED ME A DEMMO FOR FLACY 2?????!!!!1111' because I HAVE recieved emails like this, so please don't do that, it's irritating. The game will be finished when it's finished, recieving stuff like that will only bug me. I will be posting screenshots in the future, once I got some screens to shoot. Don't check back here everyday or anything, but check back once and awhile. So, uh, kinda, yeah. That's it.
