Final Fantasy Adventure

Amidst many RPG's for the Gameboy, there is one that definitely stands out: Final Fantasy Adventure. This real-time RPG is one of the best and my favorite for the Gameboy (at least in the category of real-time). You only have one character to control throughout the game, which actually makes things a lot easier. You buy the typical weapons and armor, and there are also the common items. However, there's a lot more. You wil learn different magic spells throughout the game, andget very involved in the amazingly intriquite story (at least for any Gameboy game I've played). FFA was re-released around December of '99, along with Final Fantasy Legend, Final Fantasy Legend 2, and Final Fantasy Legend 3.

Story

Many years ago, the evil Emperor Vandole attempted to obtain the power of the Tree of Mana. Anyone who touches the tree will recieve great power, but can also bring about great destruction. When the Emperor got the awesome powers of Mana, he forced poeple into slavery, bringing about his bloddy rule. However, the Gemma Knights, the protects of the tree, decided to put an end to this. It was a long, hard battle, but they finally defeated Vandole, and his plans were foiled.

Now, a new evil is at work. Dark Lord, ruler of the Empire Glaive, is trying to obtain the power of Mana for himself, with the help of the sorerer Julius. After sneaking into the castle one night, to find out Dark Lord's plans, our hero was captured by Julius, along with his good friend Willy. They were forced to fight evry day for small meals, and many other slaves died very quickly. After Willy dies, you vow to avenge him, and escape from the castle, only to be found by Dark Lord. He then pushes you down the Waterfall, which flows from the Mana tree high up in the clouds, and you are knocked unconcious. When you wake up, your journey to save the world begins...

Weapons and Armor

There are six different types of weapons to be found in this game, which all have different uses. Those weapons types are: Swords, which slash and stab, Axes, which cut down trees, Spears, which pierce the enemy, Sickles, which cut ivy in a circular motion, Chain-Flails, which can wrap around posts, and Morning Stars, which will break pots and rocks.

Along with Weapons, there is Armor. There are three different categories for armor, and those are: Helmets, Chest Armor, and Shields. Helmets protect the head and neck from attacks by raising your Defense. Chest Armor also raises your Defense, and can sometimes protect against certain Magic attacks. Finally, Shields can protect against certain Magic and projectile attacks, but will not raise your Defense.
