REQUIEM

A once peaceful coastal town,
Inert residents,
Quaint surroundings, frozen in time,
Now home of death and destruction,
As Darkness lives . . .

Terror induced fear grips me,
Cold fingers across my neck,
Whispers of words that aren't,
False promises of quick death,
As Darkness lives . . .

The night devours me,
Screaming and kicking,
Protesting for my life,
They laugh as I flee,
As Darkness lives . . .

Dark corridors of atmosphere,
Narrow and close,
Dismal fields of the night,
Pregnant with ghosts,
As Darkness lives . . .

Sounds of dread and terror,
Slithering around me,
Screaming of dying comrades,
Fading into oblilvion,
As Darkness lives . . .

They come for me,
Malicious and laughing,
Malevolent malediction,
Shivers run up my spine,
As Darkness lives . . .

Icy grips, unseen hands,
I try to struggle,
But its only mere delay,
That of the eneviatle,
As Darkness lives . . .

My life fades,
Blood spills and flows away,
Falling, a black abyss awaits,
Then they swallow, and I am gone,
As the Darkness lives.

This poem was based on my long fanfic, "Balamb's Terror", in which a coastal town in beseiged with terrible murders.
