The night begins, As we settle in, Waiting, watching, Ever still. Songs of fear, Songs of dread, Our assualted ears, Are plagued to death. Haunted dreams stir, Movement, close, We huddle together, Survivors in the night. Wavering screams, Blood, unclean, Poisoned, infected, Dismemberment begins, And the screams rise. Survival of the fitest, Death of the weak, Human nature and value, Their sole seek. Humanity lost, Feelings and desires, Enshrouded by darkness, Comsumed by burning fires. Yet, we live and they seek, And though we are weak, We survive and continue on, Though surely bleak. I wrote this one very simple, not littered with flowery thesaurus words. Its simple format and style works well with the title, Lullaby Lento. |
