DARKNESS OF LIFE

Darkness is might
But how though,
Did I not respect thee?
Darkness is life,
Yet thy steal it from me.

Darkness beckons,
Calling and hunting,
For we are the prey,
Weak in spirit and mind,
And even thought we see,
We are blind and then, perhaps,
With the love of God on our side,
We will die a quick death,
but for me, it is denied.

Darkness in sight,
Ready to devour and destroy me,
I try to hide, I try to flee,
But, in total desperation,
My life abandons me.

Soulless and lost, weak and vulnerable,
I trek the earth, searching for thee,
And yet ... you elude me, oh life, oh soul.
And my limited time dwindles ever more,
The hour-glass raped of its rough sand,
As I have been of my life.

Millennia pass, and I cannot find thee,
I believe that once, maybe,
My life meant something,
When my soul was part of my being,
Memories of sweet,
But ravaged and destroyed by myself,
Reasons why, I do not know.

Sometime I may rediscover thee,
But for now you roam free,
And I, beloved master and former owner,
Dwindle to my last, a dying flicker of flame,
Hurricanes of desperation fuse my being,
And thus, ultimately, kill me.

That was another poem in what I am beginning to refer to as my "Life Series". Again it is very dark, like the others, but I went for something different in the sense of the structure of the piece, by not keeping the stanzas to the same amount of lines. Like I said before, I'm not a poet. I just like to write what's on my mind, and, hopefully, you guys liked it too.
