Introduction Vampire Hunter D is an action-adventure game based on the novel written by Hideyuki Kikuchi, and the anime that followed. Vampire Hunter D also has its own animation, and the latest in the series is coming to theaters. Know that the game and the movie will be sort of the same. The game's story starts out with a vampire named Mayerlink destroying a town. The story is like the third saga of the novel and will have different endings. A noble in the town, which named as John Elbern, gets two vampire hunters, D and the Marcus 5, to rescue his daughter Charlotte, thought to have been kidnapped and put in Castle Cheite while Mayerlink was at the town. Mayerlink had never harmed the people of the town until now. After a while, you will finally find out that Charlotte was not kidnapped by Mayerlink, she had ran away from an arraged marrage. D, which is the main character, is human and vampire. A parasite on his arm helps him cast powerful spells. It can also give you advice during gameplay, but it mostly makes you cast spells and drain enemies energy. You will also be able to control a female character; her name is Leila, she is known for her good-shooting and being the youngest of Marcus 5. All members of Marcus 5 are: Borgov, Kyle, Grove, Nort, and Leila. All of them are rivals of Vampire Hunter D, who is seeking to kill Mayerlink for a bounty. At a few points in the game, D and Leila will meet up and fight Mayerlink himself. You will also fight other enemies named Bengey (a ninja), and a werewolf named Mashira. It will be in full 3D. Along the way you find dangerous traps and evil enemies. As the game goes on you meet a vampiress named Camilla. She, from what it says in the game, is the famous blood countess Bathory. Some other very cool things happen. The Ninja, Bengey, cuts off the Symbiot at one point. You get to play without a left hand. He soon kills D. so Lelia and the symbiot go to find his body. They find him buried outside. D. then goes to kill the Ninja. The game is similar to Resident Evil, in play control and set-up, but far better in my opinion. There is also some additional moves like a backflip, lungeing sword slash, and the symbiot can eat monsters.
The graphics
in VHD are really good. The CG movies are pretty amazing with full spoken
dialog. The soundtrack is awesome to say the least. The pieces range from
errie church sounding music to ambeint to some techno.

| FAQ
Q: After the sewers, in the room with the boxes, how do I get out? The door is too high to reach. A: Go to the box on the ledge. Push it off onto the floor. Go to the machine and turn the lever to make that portion of the floor rise. Get behind the box and push it off. Go back to the machine and lower the platform. Push the box to the next floor platform and raise it. Push the box to the final platform. Raise it. Jump on top and enter the door. Q: What is the password for the first Elevator? A: Vampire Q: What is the password for the second Elevator? A: Mankind Q: What is the deal with the ugly bird and the backwards clock on the first floor? A: In the other side if the mansion you will find the same room, only turned around. The clock there says 2:25 and the bird faces teh couch. Go back to the other room, set the clock and turn the bird. You will get a bomb, a antidote, and some stakes. Nothing major for the story. Q: How can I make the left hand/Symbiot eat things? A: You have to strike a monster at least once, it is easier if you hit them twice. Then you hit the square button. Hold it out for a moment and they should be engulfed in purple and blue flames. They will b eaten and give you back some magic power. Q: How do I beat that annoying Mashira Werewolf person. A: The way I did it was, when he was shooting or what not, I would put away my sword and run around him like a maniac. Then, when he lands in the center of the room, as he starts to jump, do the lunging powerslash and hit him, put your sword back away, and run away. I beat him quite easily this way. Q: Camilla is so hard, how can I beat her? A: Yeah, she is really hard. My way, was to just run back and forth, avoding her ground lazor attack. Then when she shoots the fire balls, keep running. If you get lucky and there is a fireball in front of you, hit it at her and keeping running. If you stop for even a second, she will get you with that bad attack. It'll take awhile, but this way works. Q: What are the items in the game? A: Red vials replenish both your health and vampire meter. These are sometimes powerful, sometimes not. Green vials relpenish health and decrease the vamp meter, these are pretty powerful. Health at the cost of power. Purple vials, these are antidotes against poison. Grenades, press the Square button a second time to detonate. Stun Grenades, these look kind of like a grey grenade. They make the screen flash and damage all enemies on screen. They explode on use and do not hurt you. Wooden Steaks, these are like throwing knives. They are not extremely powerful.
