A firedrake rune and Kain's return...

As Prisatorious retires, he finds himself standing in the middle of nothingness... a place that is consumed by darkness and shadow's. Quickly, Prisatorious casts forth a spell to illuminate the area, only to find it failing. As he tries to make sense of this, someone appears out of nowhere, being carried towards him by shadows... This someone is Kain.

"Fear me not old friend... I have come to you in a dream, 'tis the only way I could reach you for this realm crosses with my realm, the realm of death" said Kain, his lips moving, but the voice echoing from all directions."I thought you were dead... gone for good, why have you brought me here Kain?" Prisatorious asked, unable to mask the surprise in his voice. "I ask you to do something for me, I know of a way to return to the physical realm... I would have asked you to do this long ago, but when I was struck down by the immortals I found myself losing much of my memory... slowly I tried to remember who and what I was... for years I tried to bring back my memories, and now I have them back..."said Kain, the shadows that carried him in, circling his body. "So what is it you ask of me?" asked Prisatorious.

"I ask you to go to the coven and search the library, look to the corner where light is scarce. You will find various tomes, but only one is made of cured hide, it's boss and buckle made from bone... it lacks title and ornament, but I assure you, you will know of it's presence as you near it." said Kain. "Then what?" asked Prisatorious. "Read it, it will instruct you on the way to open a portal from one realm to another, big enough for someone to pass through..." said Kain, noting the approval in Prisatorious' face. "I would not ask this of you if I did not think you'd succeed, I thank you for your trouble's old friend" with a simple hand gesture from Kain, Prisatorious find's himself awake on his bed where he had retired.

Prisatorious quickly gather's his things and sets off for the coven. Expedisiously, he arrives at the library in the coven and searches extensively... slowly running his finger's down the tomes... feeling for cured hide. He finds the tome, but as he open's it, a frightful chill run's up his arm... Prisatorious falls to a single knee as a memory hits him. The hide from which this tome was made is that of a human... the human, skinned alive to make it. At first, Prisatorious felt sorry for the human that this was done to, but it was a feeling that was quickly discarded.

Prisatorious sits and reads through the pages, one of the passages reads 'In order to complete the spell mentioned beforehand, you must obtain a firedrake rune... warned be those whom attempt this, this rune shall never cool... intense heat trapped inside, a side affect caused by a firedrake burning it's way through the earth.' Prisatorious quickly look's for any references to where he could find one, when he comes across a map in the tome, showing it's exact location.

He makes his way to the pass following the maps instructions, he finds it odd that something so hot would be found somewhere so cold. As he reaches his destination, he find's a cave sealed off by a wall of ice, he cast's a spell and targets the wall, watching the ice melt with ease. Prisatorious conjures up a torch and makes his way through the icy cave, the map leading him to a large opening, at once he knew he found what he was looking for as a wave of heat engulfs him.

Quickly, he casts a ward on himself and is no longer affected by the heat... walking through the opening, he noticed the ice that covered most of the cave was replaced here by hot stone and charcoal. Searching throughout the cave he spot's something illuminating one of the passages, he looks towards the cause of this lighting only to find the fabled firedrake rune. Prisatorious was luckily carrying with him a pouch that was enchanted by a wizard, this pouch could carry anything that could fit through it's opening, with no effect to the pouch or person whom carries it, not even a change in weight.

He covers his hand with the pouch to grab the rune, as he grabs it, he finds himself falling back... he didn't expect it would be so easy to lift from the ground, he stands and hastily makes his way back to the coven where he prepare's the spell to create this portal that would bring Kain back... Prisatorious etches a pentagram on the ground in the place where Kain would appear...inside the mage's guild. Prisatorious then begins to chant the spell as he reads it from the book, the rune in the center of the pentagram. The rune slowly levitates above the pentagram and with a bright flash a portal now stands where the rune once was.

Kain, awaiting for for Prisatorious to finish what he began is now encountered by the portal, a grin shows on his face as he steps through the portal, knowing that finally... he'd be making his way home...

You ponder on walking back through the portal..
