NEW HPMW FORUM: A REGISTRATION TUTORIAL

So you need to register on the new HPMW forum. No problem! Just follow these simple instructions.


1. Go to the forum: http://emeril12.conforums.com (Remember, you must have the 'http://' in front of the address.)


2. Click on the 'Register' button near the top of the site.


3. Fill out the form as follows:

Choose username: Your username should be your student or professor name. For example, mine is 'Headmistress Sarah Dumbledore'. Professor Snape's is, 'Professor Snape'. Harry's would be, 'Harry Potter'. Make sure it's the SAME NAME you signed up with for school. Don't worry, you CAN put spaces in your username.

Email: This must be the same email address you signed up with at school. It must also be valid.

Hide: Do not check this box. It will hide your email address from others, and we students and professors need to know your email address in case they need to contact you.

Agreement: Read it, and click 'I agree'. Then click 'Register'.


4. Then it says, 'Thank you for registration. You will receive an e-mail soon with your password. You may change the password after you login for the first time.' So. Check your email a few minutes after you register. If the email isn't there, just wait a few minutes, it might take that long.


5. The email contains your temporary password. Use it to login to the site.


6. Once you are logged in, click the button near the top of the page that says 'Profile'. Fill this form out as follows:

Change password (and verify changed password): If you want to change your password, which you most likely will, change it here. Just *remember* it.

Name and Email: Don't change these, they should be the same ones you signed up with.

Gender: Self-explanatory, I hope.

Birthdate: You don't have to put your real birthday, you don't have to put a birthday at all. You can put your character birthday, real birthday, or none at all.

Location: Most likely, this will be Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (Though there are exceptions, such as Durmstrangs, Beauxbatons, and the Ministry of Magic)

Website title: If you have a website, go ahead and put its name here.

Website URL: If you have a website, go ahead and put its URL here.

ICQ, AIM, YIM, and MSN: At least one of these should be filled out, because I'm guessing most of you have AIM, AOL, YIM, MSN, or something along the lines of an Instant Messenger program.

Personal Text: This will be displayed in your profile next to your name.

Personalized Picture: This is your avatar. An avatar is a small picture (no larger than 64 pixels by 64 pixels please) that is placed next to messages on the forum that you post. If you don't know what I'm talking about, please choose 'Blank'. Then skip to the 'Preferences' section.

Hide Email from public? We already covered this, but do not check this box.

Time Format: It's up to you.

Time Offset: Depends on where you live, silly. :)

Signature: This will appear under your posts. For instance, mine reads (I think):

Headmistress of Hogwarts
http://hogwarts-online.dze.com

Then click 'Change Profile'.
