It was nice to slip out of town occasionally. The chance to think. The chance to avoid all the
conversation and hub bub that was Moorgate. The chance to stretch one's wings and not worry you're the
only one in the crowd that could.
The recent days activities had Karli begging for a bath. Anything that would get her clean, refreshed
and ready for another round of hunting and sneaking. Reflection and relaxing were the only things on her list
as she watched the sun descending past the horizon and she began to remove her clothes.
Shirts were always a hassle. The leather armor was almost nearly as bad. Shrugging the article from
her shoulders, she dropped her wings and shirked it the rest of the way down. Getting it back on was going
to be a hassle and a half. Leaving all articles that weren't meant to get wet on the beach, she tossed the other
items into the water before following them in.
The wings that were her races mark, shuddered as she worked them loose. Having them rest
dormant beneath a breath crushing cloak all day never did much for their malleability. The final rays of the
day began to recede, their warm red glow catching the many facets of her wings as they began to disappear,
plunging the sprite into a virtual bath of prismatic light.
Poking at the tiny rainbows that assaulted the water around her, Karli dragged her soaking clothes
further out as the water crept up to her waist. With clothes in tow, wings above water, the warm light of day
heading for it's nocturnal nap, Karli paused and looked back to the shore to ensure her other clothes were
still there and that no one had stumbled upon her evening activities. All secure, she set her to flight.
Taking altitude, she traveled further out to a depth that would easy accommodate a little fun. Only
a scant thought was given to the creatures that called these waters their home as Karli grinned and glanced
around before touching her toes then taking to a nose dive. Laying her wings flat to her back and closing her
eyes, she welcomed the cool water as what scant light that had surrounded her disappeared and the calm
lapping of the water became a roaring hum of movement. Diving until she reached bottom, she tapped the
sand and flipped around, catapulting herself to the surface as she thrust off with her legs.
Breaking the surface, she pushed some of her hair from her face and took a breath before ducking
her head back beneath the water again. Forgetting the world for a moment, she immersed herself in all the
noises that weren't normally part of her day, holding her breath for as long as she could as she swam towards
a lesser depth.
Her lungs ached as she refused to resurface. Wanting to take her lungs for as much as they would
give her, the sprite fought the flight instinct until the last moment, then broke the surface to take a deep
breath, checking to see if she could stand at the spot she was in. Barely touching bottom with her toes, she
wadded in until the water lapped at her neck then looked about for her clothes.
Approaching one of her boots, she beat the piece of footwear under the surface before picking it up
and wringing it out. Walking further to shore, holding the boot above the water, she wrangled a couple of
items into one pile before running up onto the sand. Shaking the boot out further, she laid it on a rock before
heading back for the next item.
Her hat, the other boot and her cloak all received an ample beating before she emerged from the
water with them. Wrapping the sopping cloak around her, it left dribble trails across the dry sand as she
approached the rest of her stuff. Everything accounted for, Karli set to building a small fire. Nothing
noticeable in the dim light of the early night, but something just enough to dry her clothes out before she
aimed for some place to sleep that night.
Driftwood was a godsend. Lighting quite easily, it's only draw back was how quickly it burnt,
leaving her constantly scrambling for more while recounting the days events in her mind.
"I'm such a putts," she told herself as she remembered one more thing she had done wrong that day.
The statement sparked a thought and she nearly jumped. "Oh damn... Pratt" she breathed, snatching up her
leather armor. Bustling to get dressed, she cursed herself as the slit on the back of the armor refused to give
her wings passage. Turning the thing around, she pulled the slit open with her hands and allow her wings the
space needed to slip through. It was a most aggravating duty, fighting and turning around as though able to
see what was going on behind her as her stress level only skyrocketed.
"Please be waiting," she muttered, snuggling the piece of equipment up then grabbing her leggings.
Acking loudly as realized she had failed to work the leather loose again, Karli ignored the awkward rubbing
and pinching as she tossed her hat on her head and pulled her boots on.
"Nasty," she remarked when she found her boots were still damp at the seams. Nothing like wet
feet to make you feel comfortable, she told herself, grabbing her cloak. This should solve the problem, she
told herself, kicking the fire into smoldering tidbits.
Grabbing her backpack and dagger, she tore off into the shadowy woods. Back towards Moorgate
and the date she was supposed to have kept.
